It's very easy to prove that Jonah was alive inside the fish at some point.

†. Jon 2:1-2 . . Jonah prayed to Yhvh his God from the fish's belly.

But it's just as easy to prove he was dead at some point too.

†. Jon 2:6 . . I went down to the moorings of the mountains; the earth with
its bars closed behind me forever.

Mountains aren't moored in the bellies of fishes; rather: they're moored in
the earth's crust; which is exactly why Jonah said the "earth" with its bars
was closed behind him rather than the lips of a fish's mouth.

So; we have a man praying from two locations:

†. Jon 2:1 . . Jonah prayed to Yhvh his God from the fish's belly.

†. Jon 2:2 . . Out of the belly of sheol I cried

In other words: Jonah prayed from two bellies: the belly of a fish, and the
belly of sheol. Since the record shows Jonah in only two places— and one of
them is clearly the belly of a fish — then by default the belly of sheol is
located in the vicinity of the moorings of the mountains; viz: the earth's
crust.

But how is it possible for Jonah to be inside the fish while at the same time
inside the earth? Well; the answer is pretty easy if we but simply allow that
people exist beyond the demise of their organic bodies. In other words:
while Jonah was dead; his corpse was interred in the fish; and his spirit was
interred in the netherworld.

According to Acts 2:25-31 Christ, while dead, was in two places at once too:
in a grave, and in haides; which is the Greek equivalent of the belly of sheol;
which, according to Mr. Jonah, is located in the vicinity of the moorings of
the mountains. Within three days and nights Christ was re-united with his
corpse to become a whole man again; just as Jonah was.

†. Mtt 12:39-41 . . For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly
of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in
the heart of the earth.

Christ wasn't buried in the heart of the earth. In point of fact, he wasn't
even buried in the earth's soil. No, he was buried in a rock tomb on the
surface of the earth. How then was he in the heart of the earth? Well; the
same as Jonah. While Christ's corpse was interred in the rock, his spirit was
interred in the netherworld.

†. Ps 16:10 . . For you will not leave my soul in sheol, nor allow your holy
one to see corruption.

Dr. J. Vernon Mcgee would disagree with you. I, however, do not (scriptural gymnastics aside).

Dr. J. Vernon Mcgee

I've participated on twenty some-odd internet forums in the last fifteen
years and I think you might be one of only two or three people I've
encountered online who have even heard of McGee let alone listened to him
or read his material

I started listening to Dr. McGee on a regular basis back in 1972. I've
completed his five-year program from Genesis to Revelation going on eight
times now. My wife listens to him every day too. She started 1980. Though I
no longer listen to the Sunday sermons, I still listen to the Saturday
questions and answers.

would disagree with you

I'm very, very curious to know which part of my post you suspect Dr. McGee
would disagree with.

Dr. McGee spent an entire question and answer episode proving Jonah was dead in the fish and was resurrected.

it is interesting seeing your view point but how does hell and paradise fit in? before Christ's resurrection those that died went to either abraham's bosom or hell. also jonah might also have been talking figuratively or what he saw from a vision. i have never heard this mcgee speak so i cannot argue for or against what he said.

Christ's resurrection those that died went to either abraham's bosom or hell.

†. Luke 23:43 . . And Jesus said to him: Assuredly, I say to you, today you
will be with me in paradise.

The "paradise" Christ promised the thief was located in the netherworld.

†. Acts 2:29-32 . . Because he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn
to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants upon his throne, he
looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was neither
abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay.

The English word "Hades" is translated from haides; which is a nondescript
koiné Greek word indicating an afterlife where all the deceased go: both the
good deceased and the bad deceased. In other words: in Luke 16:19-31,
Abraham was in haides too only his section of haides is an Eden while the
other guy's section is an oven.

Dr. McGee would be the first to deny he was infallible and/or spoke ex
cathedra.
