I don't think we can ignore the subconscious and the affect music can have.
The subconscious records everything in our life. Even when we sleep, the sounds in our home, everything. Without prejudice.

Music has an impact too.
We choose either consciously or subconsciously what we allow to enter our minds through the ear gates. Music does have an impact. the music can affect our emotions, Buit it is the words that will affect our thinking. And those we choose to allow to enter.

Music cannot lure us into sin or evil thoughts unless we associate that certain music with sin.

There are many churches that operate as business and I'm sure it displeases God.
If a church doesn't operate like a business, they will soon be OUT of business.
Would THAT please God?

Luke 14:28-30 NIV
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower.
Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?
29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you,
30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

Christian music is made by messed up people for messed up people. He points to David in the Bible and says He was probably the best musician and poet in the Bible and yet He had sin problems too.
You nailed it.
"Christian music is made by messed up people for messed up people."

So then we launch a topic to criticize. Better be sure we have the timber out of our own eye first.

He will probably never be fully forgiven by the Christian and Music communities.
That's a problem.
If we don't forgive others, God can't forgive us.

Matthew 6:15 NIV
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

It has never been that a church was supposed to operate like a business. In fact if you've studied the gospel you would learn that they are to meet in peoples houses and tend to the needy such that there are no needy among them. Do you see that in any of the churches you support? I'm sure God wouldn't be against a building paid for by the members. But he is against paid clergy. We learn that from Paul's example as he worked for his stuff when preaching for free. It was a sacrifice and gift to the Lord for Paul to do that. Has your church lost this important principle?

John 2:15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.”

I suppose this means that you are not attending church, nor supporting any religious organization?
Paul grew up in a synagogue community. He knew full well how that worked.
Any ten families could afford a synagogue with a tithe.

Anyone who has tried the commune style Christian community has failed pretty quickly. ASAIK

I did. And so did you?

You judged today's church for being run like a business, and not following the example of the early church.
And then dodged my question about church attendance. (claiming it was judgmental)

So you fall for the scam churches but are attempting to pass judgment on a person for what? What have I done or not done that you feel you need to judge me for? You've made a lot of assumptions about me that I don't find pleasant.

Exactly.
Who are we to judge?
We are the church. When a predatory cult uses Jesus as the vehicle to rob people of their innocence, exploit them for slave labor, and live like kings off donations that are only legally suppose to sustain the church, we are obligated to judge And put a stop to it.

Would you say the same thing regarding the innumerable children who were, are, raped and molested by priests in the RCC?

We haft to make judgement calls on things. It seems to me that Jesus is warning us to be careful about who we judge. Once you got the plank out of your eye then you can see to remove the speck from your brothers eye. (We all need help from our Brothers and Sisters in Christ) The thing is we can get carried away on both sides. When you drive down the road there is a ditch on either side of you. It doesn't matter if you drive off of the left side of the road or right side of the road. Either way you end up in a ditch. The idea is to stay on the road. The straight and narrow road. That is the road of Jesus and the one that leads to heaven. All others lead to destruction. In this life it is easy to take your eyes off of Jesus, just like Peter did when He got out the boat and started to sink. While He was keeping his eyes on Jesus all was well.

I don't know that much about Hillsong specifically. But I know from experience that All Christian Entertainment brings some controversy. It is considered to be a hard balance between a business and ministry. People get their eyes off of Jesus, and other concerns take over.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Song by Helen H. Lemme

O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace

His word shall not fail you he promised
Believe him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace

O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace

I think making excuses for abusive cult practices is reprehensible.

Judgments? Scam churches? My, my.
I asked legitimate questions. Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit.
I offer support for those who are honest about their church involvement.
There are legitimate reasons for not attending. I still do, but that's my problem.

Music cannot lure us into sin or evil thoughts unless we associate that certain music with sin.

Music, can be created for the Spirit, or created for the Body.
Music, can be spiritual or it can be sensual.

Most of this, has to do with the beat., the rhythm.

Finally, some transparent dialog. Thanks.

Can you seriously hang that judgment on EVERY church out there? (liars and thieves)
The majority are fine. When we hear about this stuff you are referring to, it is a SCANDAL.
For obvious reasons. And this hurts the church at large, the Body of Christ.

So, what should we do? Abandon the church, the Body of Christ, because of a few scandals?
The church is doing plenty of good. But NO ONE wants to talk about that. Why?

Should we really be shouting from the rooftops that the Body of Christ are a bunch of liars and thieves?

Exactly.
And that saw cuts both ways.
When we make a practice of discrediting the church, who's side are we on?
Granted, we need to call out wrongs, but this seems like a witch hunt.
Seems to me that those shouting loudest here are those outside the church throwing mud.
