It's because you don't have an answer and are relying on what Jim wrote, even though in Luke, Jesus tells the disciples how to pray.

That's a very nice prayer.
But, if you do it like twisting a bead, then just go fishing instead.

Listen,

Prayer is conversation with Daddy.. Father God...."AbbA" and Jesus.

We talk, we listen, we worship, we praise, we make requests.... this is Prayer, its sincere, its more then just rote repetition of a phrase.

The Holy Spirit is given to those who repent. Are you saying you are not guilty of any of those things(Galatians 5:19-21)? That your "old man" is truly dead, and that you cannot relate to Paul who said "I die daily" Those things in Galatians can be done by just thoughts, not overt actions.
Yes... he said, "I die daily". The work of mortification [making dead] in ourselves needs to continue until all that is abominable to God and all that puts us at all in opposition to God is dead. Can a man with the Holy Spirit within quench that Spirit and yield again to the desires of the flesh? If he can then something is not yet dead. We cannot kill those desires ourselves, but by yielding to the Holy Spirit and following the lead of the Holy Spirit we allow God to do within us that which we cannot do.

Mr 10:26And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
Mr 10:27And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Perfect.

Now,

Where is the Spirit?

And Why is the Spirit, the "Son-Daughter" of God and not the body or the mind?
I would guess because the spirit is the epitome of the person. Our spirits are dead before coming to faith though. So where is the spirit of a man before coming to saving faith?

Paul also tells us to not 'quench' the Spirit [I Thess 5:19]. When we do, we are on our own for however long we are so quenching. God loses no battles. When we quench the Spirit, we are without God and are following our own lead or that of others and is that not the direction of sin? Can we in and of our flesh alone stop sinning?

I would guess because the spirit is the epitome of the person. Our spirits are dead before coming to faith though. So where is the spirit of a man before coming to saving faith?

Lets look at "dead" spirit.

That is taken from Genesis, 1, ...

"and you shall surely die"...

So, with God, all things are Spiritual and Covenant, and Light, and Life, and Truth, and Righteousness, and Love, and Holiness..

The Life in Christ is : Eternal Life
Jesus Himself is Eternal live, and when we have Christ in us, we have Eternal Life.
The spirit in a person that is "quickened" is born again.

So, The Bible says..."dead", regarding Adam's, spirit, but it didn't die.. It was separated from LIFE< that is In God.
So, when that separated from God spirit that is in US, is born again, it is restored into spiritual union with God, and He is Life.

Jesus in John 14:6, says..." I am The Way.. The Truth, and THE LIFE"..

Jesus said... I have come to give you LIFE and that more abundantly.

Jesus said......"all that believe in Me, i give unto you ETERNAL LIFE, and you shall never go to Hell (perish)""

John said, "you can know you have eternal life" as that life is Jesus, and being "in Christ". = born again CHRISTian.

See that LIFE?

Adam became spiritually disconnected or separated from the LIFE that is In God and Christ, when he rebelled and ate the Apple.
The bible refers to this as a spiritual "death"
Its not a spiritual death, its a spiritual Separation from God, caused by SIN.

We all have this, same issue, and that is why we go to the Cross, and find forgiveness of all our sin, in The Blood and Death of Jesus, so that God can then give us the new birth, born again.
This is to be spiritually rejoined to God's Spirit, as "GOD...is A Spirit"

To have eternal life, is to be spiritually joined to Jesus and God the Father who have no END.

"born again....SPIRITUALLY", simply means that we have been returned to the same Spiritual Union with God, that Adam had before He was spiritually separated from God, by his SIN.

I don't think God abandons a believer completely when quenching or grieving the Spirit.

EDIT: What's the exact difference between quenching and grieving? I think they're both the same.

Is that because Jesus who is in all the born again said.....

"i will never leave you or forsake you"?

Or is it because Jesus said that if you believe in Him, you shall "never go to Hell, perish".

Listen,

Learn just one revelation.. and this will Key you into many more.

1.) The born again Spirit, is not your body, and its not your mind.

A.) The born again SPIRIT< is the "Child of God".. "The NEW Creation in Christ".

The born again SPIRIT< gets the "NEW Body"

Now where is the Born again Spirit?

A.A) ""IN Christ"... ."one with God".... seated in Heavenly places"..

See that?
That is the REAL YOU< if you are born again.
Why is this vital to understand?
Because once you see this, then you SEE YOURSELF as God sees you at all times..

And once that happens, then you will be able to understand why there is "no SIN found IN CHRIST" and all the born again are "in Christ".

This will lead you to understand that....The born again are "not under the Law, but under Grace"

Yes I read it. He died for our sins. But we are still human--and we still fall. If we fall, we have an advocate. We tell Jesus we are sorry, and He forgives us. I do not believe any future sins of mine are forgiven, unless I ask for forgiveness.
You sidestepped my question--Why did Jesus tell us to pray "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
If you have any hate in your heart, any anger toward another, covet anything, etc, you are not sinless.
All sins are forgiven because of Christ's sacrifice, past, present, and future.

Jesus didn't tell us to pray "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." He told those Jews who were His disciples how to pray -- but none of them were saved or had received the Holy Spirit, i.e., they were not Christians. Our "trespasses" (sins) are forgiven, and we should forgive others the way that God has forgiven us.

You wrote, "If you have any hate in your heart, any anger toward another, covet anything, etc, you are not sinless". So Jesus was wrong when He got angry many times at the Pharisees? Or when both He and John the baptizer referred to them as the "brood of vipers"? (Matthew 3:7 and Matthew 23:33) or when Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves (Matthew 21:12) or when Paul wrote that the Judaizers should "castrate themselves" (Galatians 5:12)?

Jesus was entirely sinless and was angry many times at the false teachers.

YES.

"JESUS is the one time ETERNAL sacrifice for sin""

The blood and death of Jesus is the Eternal Gift of Salvation that just keeps on giving Salvation.

And,"""Jesus has redeemed us from the Curse of the law, because Jesus is the END of the Law for Righteousness"".

= This means, there is no LAW in dominion over the born again.

"the Born again are not under the law, but under Grace".

So, "where there is no law, there is no Transgression".

its the LAW that defines sin as sin as the person as a SINNER.
Jesus took that away from us.

"not under the law, but under Grace">

I believe my previous reply addresses this. We are in right standing with God due to faith in Christ, which clothes us in His righteousness.

But we still fall short and sin. Period.

If someone sins, they are a sinner. God acknowledges that we sin, but does not ULTIMATELY declare us as sinful reprobate, so long as we are in Christ.

That's about as far as I'm willing to go now.

What has become "In Christ" and "One with God".... "seated in heavenly places".... that is going to get a "new body"?

Also,

Sin, is defined as sin, by the LAW.

If there is no law, there is no sin, no transgression, as its the law that defines sin as sin.

Notice.

"the Born again are not under the law, but under Grace".

"Christ is the END OF THE LAW, for Righteousness, to everyone who Believes".

"Jesus has redeemed the born again, from the curse of the law".

"If someone sins, they are a sinner., "............ friend of #117

I would like to add my own clarification to this statement above , if I may.

If someone sins & they are an unbeliever OF God, then it changes NOTHING of their status. They are a SINNER w/o the blessing of the free gift of salvation afforded to ALL by the D,B,& R of Jesus.

If a believer sins by giving over to the flesh in thoughts, words or actions, we have an advocate ( lawyer, intermediary) to plead our case & render unto us forgiveness when we repent of these sins!

If we refuse to acknowledge we sin then per the word we make him a liar! If we persist in calling God, Jesus & the inspired word a liar, then God will give us over to our delusions, and then turn us over to a REPROBATE MIND & we will be DAMNED!

You are reading a verse that is directed at unbelievers.

Read 1 John 3:9.... instead, as that is directed to the Born again.

Also, we make God and Christ a liar if we say we have sin, when "God hath made Jesus to be sin for us", because "Jesus is the one time eternal sacrifice for sin".

Being born again proves that the person has God's Righteousness and Jesus has their sin, on the Cross.

See, its an untruth to define a Christian as a sinner when they are defined as a "Saint" "being now made free from sin".

Only the LAW can define a person as a sinner, and the born again are "not under the Law, but under Grace".

No, when one quenches the Spirit, he may be quickened again by calling out for help as Peter did to Jesus when he began to sink into the water [Matt 14:30].

If a person quenches the Spirit too often and/or too long he may find himself out of time [his allotted time before natural death] and end up reprobate or completely dead again.

Who knows how much time remains him or how many more, if any, times God will respond favorably to his call for help? How many times will God forgive us before we run the limit of His patience with us or we simply run out of time. Should we tempt God one more time? Will He not always restore us one more time? Hmmm?
