I played Chess semi-professionally. You wouldn’t stand a chance against me.

I surely hope so. Transparency is essential, not optional.
...and if I were a ball player I'd say that what you consider out of the park is a mere dribble......and that of being counterproductive :)

I watched a television program last weekend about the mythology of the west created by movie and television Westerns. I think it was on TMC. The West isn’t what Westerns lead us to believe that it was.

In a similar vein this college student writes,

”Since the beginning of the American movie industry, westerns have been seen as a defining genre of American film. They have created an image of the American West that has been ingrained in all Americans. However, there is a vast difference between the reality of the West and the image of the West that comes from movies. Westerns educate the public about the West with inaccurate information. They often weave just enough history into their plots that they seem real. By combining history with fiction they can rewrite America’s past in a way that pleases the audience. This process creates a mythical West that never really existed.”

(Janna Moser, “Westerns: Creating the American West”

The Chosen follows the same formula.

You fare no better with this analogy than you did with the last analogy. I was a ball player. Unlike Chess, I didn’t play ball semi-professionally.

You would be slightly better off speaking from what you are - whatever that is.

P.S.

Gutter fighters always cease the low ground.

You would be far better off talking about the topic rather than talking about me. It doesn’t matter one iota what you think about me.

You’ve already clumsily established what you think about me. Do you think you can improve on that? What would it accomplish that you haven’t already?

Goodnight.

When those who claim to be the guardians of truth refuse enlightenment, God will raise raise to himself those least esteemed to proclaim his Gospel......yes, even rocks and donkeys if necessary.

The privilege of Israel to be God's representatives yet slighted became the privilege of the Gentiles....even those least esteemed by Israel.

I have to say, to his credit, that Jenkins has said in interviews that 95% of The Chosen is not in the Bible.

That leaves the viewers of the program with, by his estimate, 5% that is in the Bible.

Viewers of the program are filling their minds with fiction.

When I read one reviewer of the program - who likes it - refer to the fictionalized Jesus as “goofball Jesus” that crossed a line for me.
I can’t believe people like this. You could make a great program with what is in the Bible, why add to it? The Bible has a stern warning against adding to it

People are looking for something that they don’t find in the Bible. Someone is always going to be there to gIve them what they’re looking for.

”The words I speak to you are spirit” - Jesus

“95% of The Chosen isn’t found in the Bible” - Dallas Jenkins

”Test the spirits” - John

“I’ll give the people what they want” - God

”I’ll give the people what they want” - Satan

Caution. This is a spiritual battle.

“Don’t believe me, believe your Bible!” - Herbert W. Armstrong (and a host of other false teachers)

“Join us again next week for another exciting program that you won’t want to miss.” - A common ending in The World Tomorrow television program broadcasts

You had better be a Berean if you do.

What is the attraction of an idol?

It satisfies a deep-seated emotional need that isn’t being met.

So many of the reviews I’ve read contain the same common theme: the powerful emotional draw of The Chosen. It’s an emotional appeal.

But hasn’t Jenkins said that people should read the gospels? Yes.

*So did Herbert W. Armstrong. So did and do (insert charlatan of your choosing).*

And the audience is reading the gospels. Right?

Wrong.

Of course some are, but see the alarming statistics on how often people are reading the Bible.

What happens when we push on someone’s idol? Great wrath is unleashed upon us.

Is The Chosen an idol? For some it may be.

Let us follow the example set for us by Jesus and the apostles. Is that suggestion reasonable or ludicrous?

Proposition: Jesus and the apostles fictionalized the Old Testament.

It shouldn’t require an army of theologians to persuade us that the proposition is ludicrous.

In order for you to be consistent you must make the same accusations against all who have raised concerns about The Chosen that you make against me.

I’ve quoted a great many of people who raised the red flag about The Chosen long before I gave it any thought at all.
Pathetic. Telling me what to do now. Ever read James 4:11-12?

Although I am not a crusader, like you, I still express myself here on these boards to you. Regarding other people who 'raised red flag;' do you suppose there are more fans or critics of the show? Appeal to Majority.

I know people who love it. That doesn’t change my opinion about it. It’s like making a novel out of the Bible.

You can choose to be inconsistent. I think being consistent is the better option and offered it to you.

You’re a fan.

The majority is always right. (Too subtle.)

The title of the show is not The Bible but The Chosen. The question was what does the title tell you what the show is about?

Thanks for clarifying. The show is fiction. The show is about a fictional Jesus.

Offer the people Jesus, not a fictional Jesus.
