Mary knew that Jesus was the Son of God.35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you [Mary], and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
Jesus called God his Father in Luke 2:

Jesus knew that he was the Son of God.17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

While Jesus was on earth, he humbled himself and called himself the Son of God. That was his title and his role.6 though he [Jesus] was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,b 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
