The carnivore diet is a fast track avenue toward healing metabolic issues that we have acquired through eating a trash diet. Everything we can grow on a ketogenic, ketovore, or carnivore diet can be raised/grown on a farm or homestead. Our food supply is so corrupted and compromised by man's tampering, many people have taken their diet to something as simple as possible. Cattle fed on a diet of grass only (no grains), for instance ...even pastures chickens (no grains) have been the easiest for me to digest. It has nearly 100% eliminated the acid reflux I lived with since my teens.
Most of us here have no room for growing vegies and fruit. Some people get past that by having allotments which are plots of council owned land people can rent.

And you are still diabetic on a vegetarian diet?
I've gotten down to a A1C of 7 and have lost 60 pounds, and if I keep off the pizza and fried foods (my weakness), I should be getting to normal levels. I see the doctor in a few days so we shall see what the tests show now..

I practically reversed my diabetes a couple of years ago but I was eating so little my migraine symptoms started coming back so I went back to normal eating.

I have always loved bread, specially crusty bakery bread, but I can't eat too much of it now as it upsets my stomach.

You should try Ezekiel Bread

It's God's own recipe and it contains NO flour.

You should try keto... you can still eat lots of stuff since you'd be eating good fat and other foods that don't make folks fat.

That's terrible, @Pearl! Is there room for some large containers for strawberries and greens?

Or possibly a real sourdough. Fermented foods can make a difference.

I'm a believer in the nourishing foods thing and understand a lot of @TLHKAJ is saying about the importance of meat and grass-fed, especially, but balance.

I wanted it to work for me badly but even making a bone broth had adverse reaction for myself. Something to do with a histamine intolerance.

What works for one person may or may not work for another and that is okay. If something works for someone then cool.

I met a young woman who had this issue as well. She has many health issues and really wants to try carnivore, but she cannot eat beef. She is going to try fatty fish instead, and possibly pastured chicken ...but probably fatty fish first. Sometimes, you have to work with what you have and go from there. I often have trouble with chicken for the same reason .... histamine response. It is a fairly new issue for me. I used to be able to eat chicken. The histamine response started about 7 years ago. I have to wonder why ....their diet? Or maybe some issues within my gut that needs healing. Some foods I couldn't eat before, I'm beginning to be able to reintroduce after being on carnivore for 7 months.

I've heard good things about sourdough.... it's a live food, they say.
Weston Price's thing says to ferment all grains, including overnight oatmeal. It's been a long time since I read it all, but I think it wad something about aiding in digestion and the grains are too hard on the stomach.

I also wonder what effect high levels of stress might have on our ability to eat certain foods. Just looking back, my stress levels have always been extreme, but it stepped up a few levels about 7 years ago.

I looked it up out of curiosity

To be honest I'm too tired to read it and I only read one automatically highlighted paragraph but I feel like I got it - mentally.

I have reactive hypoglycemia and can't have fruit or sugar. I almost died eating bananas for potassium so I learned quickly about my special diet needs.

But I am a big meat eater and love steak and fried chicken and such. I use a little soy sauce on my meats for flavor and I love it.

@Pearl I grew up around native Americans and they make the best "fry bread". If you haven't had it then it is a must as it is delicious. It's like salty scones.

It looks good. When I think of fried bread it's more like this:

Fried bread is a slice of bread fried in a frying pan. I like it with breakfast bacon or with baked beans.

And doughnuts are lumps of bread dough deep fried instead of baked. The Indian one looks more like that.

I definitely like eggs over easy on toast! Add bacon and it's super!
