I saw this reported on TMZ yesterday.

All homes should be made fire resistant when the rebuilds commence there.

It seems like every year there is a fire season.

Yes. There is. But this time the fires got out of control because of the rare very strong winds. So the aircraft couldn't fly to start dousing the flames for a few days.

Yes, had seen that video. Even if your house is shielded by using non burning external coverings, the inside is vulnerable to blown by the winds glowing embers coming in through air vents. House vents can be protected using the same methods known for decades using in marine engines where they have stacked formed metal plates and metal meshes quenching flames that prevent fire and explosions from exiting a running motor into a boat engine room. Flame suppression.

That's true. And the embers get under the roof, too.

When the news coverage was 24/7, I watched alot. There were hundreds of burning embers flying sideways. They said they travel for up to two or three miles.

Great decision for those insistent upon living in California. If I had all that money, I'd build the same kind of home in a state where it would cost half as much and actually have some acreage to show for it.

And btw, "climate change" has nothing to do with the fires.

The real reason for houses being consumed by fire are warm and fuzzy feelings and a lack of available money at the time of building which means decisions are taken to minimise the cost of the building which then impact on the buildings' resistance to wind, fire, flooding and the ground moving/shaking.

It is the compromising of good/safe building practices to minimise the impact of wind, fire, flooding and ground moving or shaking that lead to the disasters we see too often on the news feed from all over the world.

Sadly, to many people build their dreams on the foundation of ignorance and do not seek out a solid foundation, based on learned knowledge, to make pragmatic decisions when building their life dreams upon, for their future safety and peace of mind.

It's funny that people want to blame everybody else for the decisions that they make, even God.
