Jesus told his Disciples to buy swords. Even if they had to sell their cloaks to afford one.
In Gethsemane when he admonished Peter to put up his sword, Jesus wasn't talking about the people of God would die by the sword if they lived by the sword.
Because the Romans were occupiers and insured the occupied were disarmed.
No,Jesus was referring to the Romans.
That Hebrew Temple guard whose ear Peter cleaved off (another parable. They have the ear(s) to hear but they do not hear), was a guard because the Temple elders paid Rome a tax that then allowed them to operate under Roman oversight.
All the passivity passages in the NT, turn the other cheek,give a thief your cloak if they steal your purse,love your enemy, isn't Jesus. It's Canon.
Scripture must harmonize.God is not a man that he should lie. And he is the same! Yesterday,Old Testament (OT), today and forever.
God/Jesus did not love his enemies. His Hebrews did not turn the other cheek when encountering enemies. They did not love their enemies,nor did God. They,God,killed them.
NT God said....love your enemy. Turn the other cheek.
When OT readers know, OT God/Jesus never did that.
