Is repentance necessary for salvation according to the Bible?

  • 1. Yes — Repentance is essential and directly tied to forgiveness of sins.

  • 2. No — Only faith in Jesus is required, repentance is not part of salvation.

  • 3. Repentance is just a change of mind about Jesus, not turning from sin.

  • 4. I’m not sure, I need to study what the Bible really says about it.

I am speaking about someone who said they were saved, and seemed to follow the Lord for a time, but then chose to live in many sins for the rest of his life until death-- essentially denying the Lord-- is that person still saved is the Question?
Behold says YES. All through this thread so did you.
I've been saying that the person who appears to be in the body of Christ who later leaves, shows that they were not actually in the body of Christ. I've written this to you many many times. Hopefully this time will stick.

Your question is a complex question presupposing that the regenerate can become unregenerate. Are they still saved? No, because they were not saved to begin with. I keep saying this over and over.

Much love!

Is Repentance important to salvation?

Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Without turning away from one's sins being separated from the world unto the Lord (holiness) one will not be allowed in to the presence of the Lord.

Those falsely claiming this is "works" are ignorant of Philippians 4:13 where we learn:
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me"

Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

These people don't understand that when one submits their entire lives unto the Lord and abide IN Him.... the power of the Holy Ghost is what enables them to turn away from sin thru God's promises

2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This is how Christians are to escaped the corruption that is in this world
