Sorry, my thoughts are quite jumpy.
If you do not cut off the end of the first verse it says in contrast
should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
What I mean by "perish" in that statement is this: the all sins of all humanity have led to the perish of the world. Therefore, my view is that people tend to interpret this "perish" as the destruction of one's life.
The sins of all people in the world—past, present, and future—will eventually be turned into a curse through their actions. This curse will be upon the earth, making the planet's life systems unsustainable (a fact that has already been scientifically discovered).
This is why God said to Adam,Gen 3:17 cursed is the ground for thy sake;
Yet believers may also experience the outcome of this perish of the world—
( believers
should not perish )
however, those who believe in Jesus will receive eternal life and live.
( but have everlasting life. )
ever lasting life.
Return to the life that should as ever lasting.
I'm just saying what I saw in the Bible.
1.that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish,
2.shall
judge him
in the last day
If this is not a translation error, then it conveys one meaning: the destruction of this world.
And God will judge all mankind at the very end of this world's perish.
Therefore, my view is that people tend to interpret this "
perish" as the destruction of one's life.
John 5:28-29
28 "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
29 and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life,
those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
