Hey Triumph1300,

I’ve been mulling over your post about preparing for the coming collapse and potential calamities, and honestly, I’m stumped. It feels like you’d either need to be filthy rich or have survival skills on par with Mowgli to stand a chance. But even for the wealthy, how do you really prep for something like this? I recently watched Homestead (2024), and it got me thinking about what survival might actually look like.

The movie tries to depict life after a societal breakdown while serving as a cautionary tale about how even the best-laid plans can fall apart due to a series of mistakes. It raises solid points about preparing for an apocalypse, human nature, and moral dilemmas, but it occasionally slips into clichés and unrealistic assumptions, which weakens its impact as a serious take on survival.

Plot and Core Idea

The main character, a family man, seems to have it all figured out: he builds a fortified homestead, stocks up on resources to feed a large group, and hires professional soldiers for protection. It’s a rational approach in a world where society has collapsed, and hunger and chaos are the norm. But the film systematically shows how even this well-thought-out plan crumbles due to strategic errors and human flaws.

Key Mistakes in the Movie

Homestead Location:
The homestead is too close to a populated area, and its existence is no secret to the locals. That’s a fatal flaw. In a real survival scenario, with hunger and desperation rampant, people will flock to any known resource hub. The crowd becomes an unmanageable threat, destabilizing everything. A real homestead would need to be isolated and hidden to avoid attention.

Moral Dilemmas and the Wife’s Actions:
The protagonist’s wife, driven by compassion, starts feeding starving townsfolk. It’s a humane gesture but incredibly shortsighted. Instead of fending for themselves, the crowd grows dependent on handouts, escalating tensions. This plot point highlights the clash between morality and pragmatism, showing how kindness without strict boundaries can lead to disaster in an apocalyptic setting.

External Threats and Authority: A government official shows up, demanding the homestead “share its wealth” under threat of confiscation. This illustrates a harsh truth: even after a collapse, some form of armed authority persists. When the protagonist refuses to comply, the official returns with a S.W.A.T. team, leading to his death. It’s a stark reminder that even a well-defended homestead can’t stand up to organized force, especially when it’s cloaked in the guise of “public good.”

A Realistic Scenario

The movie veers into Hollywood’s predictable “happy ending,” which feels jarring against the grim reality it sets up. In a real-world scenario, things would likely play out differently:

Death of Key Figures: The homestead’s leader would probably die at the hands of the official or in a firefight. His death would leave the group leaderless, crushing morale.

Collapse of Defenses: A shootout between the homestead’s guards and the S.W.A.T. team would likely result in mutual destruction. Even if some guards survive, they’d be too weakened to hold off the desperate crowd.

Looting and Chaos: The starving mob would seize the opportunity to storm the homestead, looting food, seeds, fuel, and tools. Livestock would be slaughtered without regard for their long-term value, and seeds for future crops would be consumed in a frantic bid to stave off hunger.

Total Collapse: Without seeds, animals, or resources, the homestead becomes unsustainable. Survivors—both homesteaders and townsfolk—would face starvation. Internal conflicts and hunger would finish off any remaining hope.

This outcome would’ve driven home the point that survival demands not just resources but iron discipline, isolation, and the willingness to make tough, sometimes ruthless, decisions.

Trump Paves Road for WAR On Venezuela + Iran + Russia ALL AT ONCE

(Wants the Nobel Peace Price!)
You left out the elephant in the room: China. The US and China are already deep into what experts are calling a "New Cold War," with tensions over trade, tech, Taiwan, and military buildups escalating under both Trump and Biden administrations. It's been brewing for years, and Trump's second term has only cranked up the tariffs and rhetoric, pushing it toward something even hotter.

That said, even tossing China into the mix doesn't make the list complete. If the Democrats have solid allies like the EU and Japan locked in for multilateral muscle, the Republicans? They've pretty much got just one: Israel. And let's be real—Israel isn't so much an ally as the one calling the shots, with the GOP acting more like a loyal vassal, bending over backwards on aid, policy, and endless support amid the Gaza fallout.

This is how i shall prepare for coming tribulations and hard times .
Worry not over such things
The birds sow not , YET your Father takes care of them .
JESUS has this sheep . Why worry .
But do beware o churches of intefaith ecuminal whoredom. For ye have no deliverance
FROM THE WRATH OF GOD which shall surely come upon you . JESUS WAS DENIED by that interfaith lie
and no sheep should have unity with that . So do beware .
Because there is something far worse that cometh upon them all ON THE Day OF THE LORD.
Just a friendly reminder my friend and a dire necessary one too .

So now allow me some parting words
CURSED with a SUPER CAPITAL C , is the man whose hope was in man , in govts of either side .
But blessed is the man WHOSE HOPE and TRUST BE IN THE LORD .

A man is drowning at sea, praying, “Lord, save me!” A boat full of fishermen comes by, offering help. He shouts, “No, I’m waiting for God’s salvation!” Later, a rescue helicopter hovers overhead, but he waves it off, saying, “No, I’m waiting for God’s salvation!” He drowns and ends up in heaven, facing God. “Why didn’t you save me?” he asks. God replies, “What do you mean? I sent you a boat and a helicopter, but you refused them both.”

The moral? This story pokes fun at human pride and our tendency to miss help when it doesn’t look “divine” enough. As the saying goes, “Pray to God, but row to shore.” Faith is key, but we’ve got to act on the opportunities God sends our way.

Now, about those interfaith churches—you’re onto something, but let me take it a step further. How do we describe this generation of wolves in sheep’s clothing? Picture a man hiring a lawyer, paying big bucks for expert legal advice and defense in court. He trusts the lawyer’s knowledge and integrity. But what if the lawyer’s incompetent, spouting nonsense that misleads the client? Worse, what if he pushes the client toward a crime, setting them up to fail in court? That’s not just a freeloader—freeloaders just eat for free. This guy’s a fraud, a con artist, a wolf in sheep’s clothing who betrays trust.

It’s the same with some preachers. People come to them, offering money and trust, seeking spiritual guidance and biblical truth. But what if the preacher, like a bad lawyer, is either clueless and spouting nonsense or, worse, leading the flock into spiritual ruin? They take payment for pastoring but sow deception, setting up believers to stumble before God’s judgment.

As Matthew 7:15 warns, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Personally, I'm preparing more for death and trusting in the resurrection and eternal life than for scraping by in this world. As Jesus said in the New Testament (Mark 8:35 and Luke 9:24), "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it." The one who clings desperately to preserving their life at any cost ends up losing its true meaning and purpose. Life and death can have profound sense and value, just as they can be meaningless and fruitless without it. That's where wisdom and understanding come in—we need discernment to see beyond the temporal traps.

Let us not jump to conclusion without the required evidence that shows your claims can in fact be confirmed/qualified.

The problem I see is that people are acting God like to bring about an outcome that is only in God's providence to do.

It seems to me that many "Christians" have not really read or understood God's words in the scriptures.

It has to end at some point.
Isn't 85% of Gaza destroyed?

How difficult can it be to step in at this point and say stop
wasting bombs on it.

Trump Paves Road for WAR On Venezuela + Iran + Russia ALL AT ONCE

(Wants the Nobel Peace Price!)
I keep feeling war is coming for my homeland, but I don't necessarily believe that.

I looked at the USA war history this morning. It is extensive. From WW1 to WW2, korea, vietnam, middle east, etc. The nation has basically been for the most part at war since 1900, but take into account the civil war, battle of independence, and the mexico war, native American battles, etc, war on drugs which involves terrorists.

Also the fact that it all started as settlers from europe, asia and other regions fighting for liberation from over taxation (which can closely mimic bond servancy, slavery even depending on conditions and pay/tax rates). Add into that the fact that many settlers came with slaves themselves. Latter dash in a touch of anti-slave wars and liberty becomes freedom and justice for all.

Bring it all together with the spread of Christianity from God: Then the liberty, freedom and justice for all, equal human rights God desires reaches out to the ends of the earth. I don't really know why some wars erupt, but I suspect it relates to those things in general.

Cheers!
