The war in Iran is now FINALLY over for a change, and the Strait of Hormuz is being reopened right now, so I guess that's good news. But not everyone is so happy necessarily, and both Democrats and Republicans alike have hesitated to embrace this right away as a clear U.S. victory.

A handful of Senate Republicans have sharply criticized the agreement Donald Trump reached with Iran, accusing the administration of committing “the worst foreign policy blunder in decades”.

On Wednesday, the Trump administration released the text of an interim deal between Washington and Tehran to end the 110-day conflict, framing it as a “major win” for the US – even as the 14-point accord made significant political and financial concessions to Iran to reopen the strait of Hormuz and prevent a “worldwide depression”.

“Reagan is rolling over in his grave,” the Republican senator Bill Cassidy declared, in a statement posted on X.

“Iran’s nuclear ambitions were not curbed, and they have learned that threatening the strait of Hormuz works and will undoubtedly leverage it in the future,” the outgoing Louisiana senator wrote. “Now, Iran gets to build brand-new infrastructure under this deal.”

If you look closely at the deal it gives Iran the ability to play with the rest of the world, they can and know they can close that strait whenever they wish. Also, the idea that they could never get or have an Nuclear Weapon is foolish. The 300 billion development framework? -wow. I do understand why the GOP is not happy with this

It's only a Memorandum of Understanding.
It's not the final deal.
If you read it, there are still a lot of clauses and a lot of future agreements to work on.

Don't forget, Iran is not just the Islamic Republic of Iran. They took over the Iranian people who consider themselves the original Persians.
The Deal that is being worked on is between the US and the IRGC which is the Iranian Military.
There really are no others in power to make decisions.

When there is a Final Agreement it won't be between the US and Iran.
It will be a Final Agreement with I believe the United Nations.

The $300 billion is money that has been frozen and is located in Qatar.
There is a Board of Peace, and it won't be just the US helping Iran as well as Gaza and other nations in the region, to find a way to have peace and prosperity in the Middle East.
Problem was the IRGC was holding the threat of nuclear annihilation not just against Israel and America, but their neighbors as well, if they didn't do what Iran wanted them to do.

This isn't just a U.S war, they just didn't have the capability or the nerve to push against Iran.
Somebody had to do it.

Hopefully it works out as peace in the middle east. I don't think it will work out for us or the Iranian people.

Well, I am not crazy about entangling with that region either, but still if the US is set on war in the Middle East, would not it have been better if they just removed the Iranian dictatorship? lots of their people are fed with with the mullahs controlling every aspect of their society tbh
