Does the "husband of one wife" requirement mean that polygamy was common in the early church?

There is the theological side and the history side of the concept of polygamy.

The scriptures never condemn polygamy and the Mosaic Law regulated it and Yahweh took credit for King David’s wives.

In the Hebrew culture it was considered a blessing of God to have many wives and children.
As I said Martin Luther said he could not condemn polygamy because the scriptures did not.
As it is now it is not a sin to have more than one wife but for Christians it is best to just have one.

But in that case...

Even Monogamy cannot teach as much as good children of God, and polygamy is more difficult.

I read in the Koran that if you can't treat your wives with equal love, then you can't have many wives, I think this passage is about a person's honesty.

However, I found it very reasonable.

Think about Abraham,Even if he wanted to give equal love, his wife would not agree to the question of inheritance.

I find it interesting that people like to understand God's word in their own way, but the Bible makes things very clear, You can find the right answer even outside the Bible, maybe I should call it extracurricular reading,

God cannot be born by man, and God does not breed. God creates man, and God does not breed man. The Koran says so.


In the OT, God uses Israel defeats the enemy to teach us there is no other word/God. (The word was God,and the word with God.)

In the NT,God teaches us what these words are through Jesus Christ..

If you want to tell the word is God, then you also right.


If you want to tell God and Jesus are two different things, then you also right.

But the word never change, whatever you understand the word or not.

The word was God,and the word with God.
Now the word is Jesus Christ and God, and the word with Jesus Christ and God.
Jesus and father are one.

God is God.
Jesus Christ is Jesus Christ.

Father is father.
Son is son.

Trying to play the singular mention of wife into this topic as if that is the foundation for some imagined limitation placed upon all men, you're creating more problems than you're solving. What if the text had stated "wives" in that instance? Would you then claim that plural wives is then condoned?

This nonsense belief that Jesus made changes to the moral dynamics for marriage is nothing but a fabricated, false doctrine. If the text had been in the plural, I would also stand in opposition to someone using that as a defense for polygyny for all men. Either way, it's just plain wrong.

What matters is that which scripture shows to us. Had the Patriarchs, most of whom had plural wives, of our faith ever realized plural wives were a sin in any way or that it was against God's intent for ALL of mankind, they of all people would have known that and lived accordingly. That crap someone else quipped about God allegedly winking at that this alleged sin, they are the types who invent morality on the fly through their mean-spirited lives. They are of no consequence.

Actually, that is not entirely true. Gideon, who had MANY wives, we are not told one word about his having had issues as a result. The few who did have issues, such as Jacob marrying his wife's sister...well yeah, that is indeed going to result in trouble down the road for ANY man who seeks such.

So, please remain consistent with scripture rather than to swipe across it all with such a broad brush stroke until studying it for what is actually says.

Making “the husband of one wife” significant in are you rebuilding what was destroyed, or building up in edification fruit unto God. Proverbs speaks a lot of the woman who calls and tempts and perverts the way …in this example Paul could not persecute the body, and at the same time lift up what he once tore down. A double minded man has two wife’s? The wives of trying to please men, and at the same time referring to themselves as a bride whom (her heart) pleases God.
