For me, it's the Child's Play movies. The idea of a killer doll pretending to be just a doll is too good. I think Bride of Chucky is my favorite of the bunch because it's quite funny. But the first one is genuinely scary, so it's a bit of a toss up. :confused

Some other good ones:

1. The Descent
2. Thirteen Ghosts
3. Freddy vs. Jason
4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
5. The Thing (original)
6. The Fly
7. The Others (psychological horror)
8. The Sixth Sense
9. Jason X (my fav Jason film)
10. Ghost (a tragic love story that's also scary)
11. Event Horizon (cult classic)
12. The Adam's Family (1991)

Did you ever see the 2005 remake directed by Spielberg?

I haven’t seen it all the way through. I like the original better. It scared the daylights out of me when I was a boy.

My favorite scene from the movie - then and now:

* I like to think I would have done the same. RIP Uncle Matthew *
Really? You'd leave your niece there to watch you get vaporized for no good reason? He didn't even get to share the gospel before they turned him into a pile of goo.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.“ - Jesus (Matthew 5:9)

I can’t think of a better reason than that.

He didn't even get to share the gospel before they turned him into a pile of goo.

Occupational hazard.

Is that the movie Descent? True story about a caver who goes into the cave in I think Utah...and he gets terribly stuck. If so, I saw it for free on the Tubi app.

Good movie but sad ending. I like true stories unless they are too gory.

No,this isn't that movie. You're thinking of the movie, The Last Descent.

The Descent features a storyline about a group of women who go to explore an underground cavern system. They're lured there by a man who owns the property itself and encourages Spelunkers so to feed the creatures dwelling in the caverns.

Very scary stuff.

Oh you're right...the caver movie was The Last Descent...poor man died in there stuck. I don't know why cavers insist on going through a tremendously narrow passage....many have been stuck in them.

I did see The Descent when I was watching caver movies.

A professed believer in Jesus enjoying horror movies is akin to singing praises while participating in a war intent on killing others.

I don't watch horror movies. The Last Descent is a true story of a caver who went into a cavern in Utah and got stuck. It's the story of how they tried to rescue him but failed. The cave was boarded up after that.

I like to watch true stories as long as they aren't gory.
