What about where the OT 'righteous' who died = where did they go???

What did JESUS say on this................
Hebrews 11….tells us what Paul said about all those OT persons of faith….

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.“
So, through his faith, as we see recorded in the Bible, he still speaks to us. Did Abel live on after death…no scripture says so. He “speaks” today only metaphorically.

“By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.“
Enoch was “taken” so as not to “see“ death….but it didn’t mean that he didn’t die…..only that before he died he knew he had pleased God. If he lived on after death, what would be the point of that statement?

“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.“

In order to inherit something, or to be an heir, something has to take place in the future for you to gain the inheritance. As it says in the scripture quoted below….
These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar”

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.”

Again, there is a future inheritance. He was looking forward to it….the future Kingdom of God….the one he knew where Messiah would be king.

“These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.“

What was the reward? How did Moses know about the Christ? Jews knew Messiah was coming….and he would gain his reward….but in the future. He had no belief in life after death until the return of the one who had not yet arrived.

“And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets— who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

And
all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
(ESV)

None of the ones Paul mentioned above, received what was promised…something better was coming….and these ones would not receive the promises apart from the apostles. And the apostles and others who were chosen for a role in heaven, (the elect) would not receive their promised reward until Christ returned.

1 Thess 4:13-17….
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.” (ESV)

All was yet future.
So in answer to your question…“WHERE DID THEY GO”? The answer is…..nowhere. All those of faith mentioned in OT Scripture went to “sheol”….the common grave of all mankind….the place they expected to “sleep”, as Paul said above…and as Jesus said his friend Lazarus was. (John 11:11-14)

So dead people are still asleep laying the ground? Sure... right. That's an old Jewish myth, called Soul Sleep.
Not a Jewish myth at all, but a Scriptural fact. There was no belief in an immortal soul contained in Jewish Scripture.
Belief in an immortal soul was an adoption from the pagan Greeks that the apostate Jews took on in later centuries. The dead are all in Sheol….sleeping. (Eccl 9:5, 6, 10)

Jesus was Jewish and taught from Jewish Scripture.
Read that account of the resurrection of Lazarus and see where Jesus said he was….(John 11:11-14)
Apostle Paul said in 2 Cor.5 to be absent from the body is to be present with The LORD. End of debate.
Yes….he knew what had to happen in order to go to where Jesus had gone to prepare a place for his elect.
He knew that at death he would sleep until Christ’s return, and then the time would be right for all of his elect to be resurrected, but no one knew when that was going to be. He would be “present with the Lord” when it was Gods’s time for the “first” resurrection. (Rev 20:6)

+Then if premillennialism applies John 6:54 to what they believe the second coming is in revelation chapter 19 then who do the saints reign over if every unsaved person is dead according to the verse 18 below?

Revelation 19
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”
Good Morning Marty,

The "last day" is speaking of "the end of this Age" = "this current Age is ruled by satan, who is the god of this current Age/world system"

Rev ch19 & ch20 = When CHRIST Returns and satan is "locked up in chains and a seal placed over him so that he cannot communicate or influence his power over mankind"

Once CHRIST Returns and destroys the Antichrist and all who received the Mark a NEW DAY and NEW AGE BEGINS = 1,000 Years

God promised that not all flesh will be destroyed = Matt ch24

"And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved! But for the Elect's sake, HE has shortened those days"

The following is a link to cross refs of Zechariah 14:16. I'm not seeing anything in Isaiah 4 listed.

And here is a link to another cross ref site. I'm not seeing anything in Isaiah 4 listed there either.

What in the world are you talking about, answer the question? I did answer the question. Just because you might disagree with my answer does not mean I didn't answer your question. I already told you, Zechariah 14:16-19 explains who some of these are. You of course are free to show why Zechariah 14:16-19 does not support what I apply it to, and then show what it does apply to, and why and how it does. It's one thing to tell someone they are mistaken about something. It's another thing altogether to tell someone why they are mistaken about something, then provide the alleged correct interpretation instead.

And it doesn't cut it if, for example, you tell me that by placing Zechariah 14:16-19 after the 2nd coming this means literal animal sacrificing resumes. Except that is not my position. No way in a million years do I think animal sacrificing resumes, period. Let alone after the 2nd coming

BTW, why do you refuse to believe what the text states in Zechariah 14:16--- that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem? And if initially involving the same time period Revelation 19:21 is involving, how does survivors equal no survivors? You are not interpreting Revelation 19:21 in light of Zechariah 14:12, 16-19, I am. Obviously, we are not going to arrive at the same conclusions in that case, since I don't refuse to believe Zechariah 14:16, that there are survivors remaining, yet you do.

Let's just focus on this at the moment, yes or know, does the verse below say that every person on the earths flesh is eaten?

18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”

Zechariah mentions survivors who attacked Jerusalem thus the bible shows us that these are not the same events.

Instead of assuming events are the same how about answering the question.

Who is left for the saints to rule over if in revelation chapter 19 every none believer is dead?

”“Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”

The birds ate the flesh of all people free and slave great and small.
Stepping back, don’t we need to have God’s view of the timeline?

What was the purpose of the “Kingdom” that God Promised the Jews?
God appointed his prophets to inform his people about what would take place in the future.
They were to expect a Messiah who would “undo the works of the devil”. This Messiah would take them back to paradise.....the life that Adam and his wife threw away.

The elect are the “chosen ones”....but chosen for what? For rulership and priesthood.....”a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”. (Ex 19:4-6) Where was this kingdom located? For centuries the Jews expected an earthly kingdom with themselves in the role of kings and priests, ruling all the nations on earth. Even as Jesus was ascending to heaven, the disciples asked if he was going to restore the kingdom to Israel then and there...? (Acts 1:6)

Only after their anointing with holy spirit at Pentecost days later, were the elect given confirmation of their choosing, but they also received an altered idea about where the kingdom would be located. It was to be a heavenly kingdom with earthly subjects. God’s purpose in creating the earth for man, and man for the earth, was because life here was to be perpetual, living forever with no natural cause of death or pain or suffering....those things came with sin. (Rom 5:12)

So we have two separate groups with two separate destinies....two baptisms, and two locations, but all are worshippers of the true God and are ransomed by the blood of his son.

Since God is the one who chooses his elect, we have no say in it. These are chosen to rule earthly subjects....those not elected. (Rev 14:1-5)

When the judgment is administered, those who failed to heed the warning and bring their lives into harmony with Christ’s teachings will be the ones who become food for the carrion creatures. These are the unbelievers whom Jesus judges as “goats”......he will preserve the “sheep” through “the great tribulation” by ‘cutting short the days’ or “no flesh would be saved”.

Revelation 7 gives us a clear picture of these two groups....

“Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel. . . .

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” . . . . .

Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. . . .

For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
(Vs 2-4, 9-10, 13-14, 17 ESV)

Revelation 21-2-5 repeats this promise.....
“And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.

This is a restoration of God’s first purpose for mankind.....as you can see, “the dwelling of God is with man” here in this verse. The “bride” of Christ are seen bringing their rulership to mankind here on the earth.

So, not all on earth will perish at the judgment, just as all did not perish in the flood....8 righteous and obedient souls survived because they heeded the warning that God gave Noah and set about the task of saving themselves by following his direction, to the letter.
Jesus said it would be “just like the days of Noah” when he would again bring the earth’s inhabitants to an accounting. (Matt 24:37-39)

We have to ask ourselves why did the people of Noah’s day feel confident that Noah was just a “nutter” building a huge structure out in the middle of a cleared field...and telling the people what God was about to do? They ridiculed and ignored him....but to their horror, when the waters fell from the sky and the aquifers were released to the earth’s surface, and these began to engulf them...did they die as unbelievers? Too late.

Noah’s words would have been ringing in their ears. They stumbled at the messenger.....so, are people doing it again? Are Jesus’ true disciples again being ignored and ridiculed by a world that buried God a long time ago and began sacrificing to the god of science?

If Jesus said that “few” will find the entry gate to the road that leads to life (Matt 7:13-14)....and that they would be “hated and persecuted”, (John 15:18-21) even by those who claim to worship the same God, as Jesus and his disciples were....isn’t it time to wake up and see where we are in the stream of time, and what actually constitutes true worship?

If we understand who rules this world (1 John 5:19).....then nothing will be as it appears to be. The deceiver has had millennia to perfect his craft, but have we kept up with God’s truth? Have we accepted the counterfeit religions promoted by the devil in his world? He has catered to every taste....but there is only one truth....are we open to it?

Only God can lead us out of the maze. (John 6:44; 65)

But the bible says all unsaved people will be eaten by the birds

Revelation 19

Not all who experiences “the great tribulation” are unsaved! Didn’t you see that a “great multitude” will “come out” of that time of terrible trouble on earth....? They claim Jesus as their Lord and have washed their garments in his blood....saved but not sealed.

Those who are saved are two completely different groups.....there are those who are sealed ( a finite group) and “a great multitude which no man could number”...(infinite)....two groups, two destinies..one purpose of God....taking mankind back to paradise....where he put us in the first place.

I'm using the scripture to show that Revelation 19:17-18 is not talking about what you are talking about.

The bible doesn't contradict itself and when one verse states that "and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.” will be eaten, its showing us that its a different event.

All the prophesies in the OT pointed forward to this one ultimate accounting...at the time of Christ’s return.

Revelation informs us about who are alive and come out of the great tribulation....and who will be food for the birds....have you identified the two groups? If you don’t then all these questions remain unanswerable.

Things become so complicated when we lose sight of the big picture. Was it ever God’s purpose for any human to become food for animals or birds?

Why are we here? What went wrong? Why did it go wrong? How does God get it all back on track?

If you keep the story line simple, Genesis answers the first three questions and Revelation answers the last one......everything in the middle is how God accomplished it, leaving us types and shadows to illustrate his methods and the reasons why free will was worth all this trouble to preserve.

Think about it.....how does God see things? Not nearly as complicated as satan has portrayed them.

Does the verse below say all people free and slave great and small will be eaten?

Yes or no?

"and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.” will be eaten, its showing us that its a different event.

Does the bible contradict itself?

Yes or no?

Then that verse is not the same event at you thought.

In the big picture, what is the point of two “great days of God the Almighty”?

You have to understand what that “great day” accomplishes....

All of the OT prophets pointed forward to this one day of accounting for the people of all the earth....just like the days of Noah....a will be time for decisive action on God’s part to eliminate all the wicked people who cause conflict and bloodshed on this earth. It is the culmination of all that has transpired since the rebellion in Eden....a day of reckoning to bring everything back into place.

What took place in Eden is undone in John’s Revelation, and the outcome results in the thousand year reign of Christ and his elect, bringing all redeemed ones back into reconciliation with God.
Satan and his hordes are in a bottomless pit, unable to interfere with the rehabilitation of the earth and its inhabitants, which will include all the resurrected ones. (John 5:28-29) All will have that thousand years to regain the perfection that Adam’s sin took away from all his children.

What John is describing is that no matter what position any person holds in society, if they are accounted as unworthy of life, their bodies will be left like manure on the ground....signifying that none are deserving of a decent burial. Military commanders and slaves alike will suffer the same end. The carrion creatures will have their feast.

This is not the flesh of all people per se,....it is the flesh of all wicked people...these are the only ones who will suffer this fate....one for which they have no one to blame but themselves.

“The great tribulation” is the prelude to “Armageddon”....there will be survivors, because God will cut short the days on account of his faithful ones. No wicked ones will survive Armageddon.

Then what is the battle at the end of the thousand years? Wouldn’t that be a different day Of the Lord?

You said that they will have a thousand years to regain the perfection that Adam lost but that obviously doesn’t happen the thousand years ends in a big failed mess according to chapter 20:8 doesn’t it?

There is also no mention of Armageddon in chapter 19 either it’s a completely different event than chapter 16.

Also if no one knows when the second coming is then how are the beast and his armies gathered for the battle?

Do you see how your view makes no sense?

No one knows the day or hour.

God has given us many events that must occur before the Day of the Lord arrives = Matt ch24, 2 Thess , Revelation

Exactly.
I find the idea of saved man regaining perfection over a thousand year period absolutely ludicrous in the light of Jesus Christs finished work.
It shows you how little they understand the revelation that is Jesus Christ.

But this is only because you currently cannot SEE the BEAUTY of what God has planned for those who love Him.
