Please Jack, don't ruin this thread, will you please?
How can asking a totally legitimate question ruin the thread? Who do YOU pray to? I don't think STV knows. Do you know who you pray to?

God's Precious Word Of Truth (AV) Is Now Complete, And the office of 'apostle' is no longer, thus:

1) No longer any need of God Confirming His Truth with accompanying 'sign' gifts (prophecy, knowledge,
tongues, and healing), being Totally Complete For 'our faith and practice' Under God's Grace Today!
+
2) Under That Amazing Grace, we are now in the age of infirmities, where we find,

“And He { The Lord Jesus } Said Unto me, My Grace Is Sufficient For thee:
for My Strength Is Made Perfect In weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather
glory in my infirmities, that The Power Of Christ may rest upon me.”

+
3) Which, With God's Word of Truth, Rightly Divided, is
for you, precious friends?:

Lord, we humbly ask for a lot less Confusion in [ peacefully ] understanding / Handling
Your Completed Word Of Truth. (1 Corinthians 14:33 AV)

Amen.

Did you FAST? Fasting gets God's attention. That's why STUDYING the Bible is critical.
there is no 100% guarantee of physical healing in the Bible many things we dont understand our ways are not his ways nor i thoughts his thoughts. we simply dont know the Lord will. divine healing can happen . just we have no control over the healing..

So all of the healing promises in the Bible are lies? That would make John 3:16 a lie also.

St. SteVen said:
100% of those we don't pray for don't get healed.
You sure about that?

However, if God heals someone without being asked in Jesus's name, how is the Father glorified in the Son? (To tie back into the thread's subject verse.)
The saying is to encourage praying for the sick.
And in the context of hearings that happen in the moment, it's true.

Honestly, glorifying the Father in the Son is far from my mind in the moment.
I have plenty else to focus on.

- Did God direct me to pray for this person?
- Does this person want me to pray for them?
- Does God have a prophetic word for this person?
- If so, am I supposed to deliver a message?
- Do I have a solid pre-prayer diagnosis of the problem? (range of motion/amount of pain?)
- I'm checking in as we go to confirm improvement from the original diagnosis?
- Am I aware of spiritual manifestations in the process?
- Is the one being prayed for aware of such?
- Am I committed to see this through?
- Will I remember to follow-up with this person afterward?

This is an interesting perspective. I've only once felt that God was directing me to pray for a person, and I found the experience to be a bit disconcerting. Like I was being chided by the Holy Spirit for not figuring it out on my own.

One of my pastors confided in me that most of the prayer requests we get in church fall into the category of (his words), "Please pray for Aunt Bertha's hemorrhoids". (What, should we lay hands on the affected area of her body?) Most of the time, I don't even know Aunt Bertha. For follow-up, I suppose I could find the requester (if I even remember who it was) and ask how Aunt Bertha is doing. (Hemorrhoids aren't a typical conversation starter.)

I hang around the Prayer Forum on this board and I do pray for people that I don't know and will probably never see this side of the World to Come. A lot of it is driven by my own emotions, either because I like the person, or their situation evokes compassion and/or empathy. Follow-up is rare. I'm not sure this way is a proper approach to intercessory prayer, but we're told to "bear one another's burdens". (Galatians 6:2)

noooooo john 3:16 is promise of eternal life. that is so silly to say.. not everyone is going to be healed from sickness , if you feel that way on healing and if your on any medication dump it down the toilet go with out it.. never go to the doctor . we dont know God will .. i have seen healing take place .a woman given a death sentence of cancer . was turned around years later it came back. she passed away she was a woman of faith , suppose you explain that. maybe you could join a benny hinn crusade

It's so easy for Christians to pray for people. Just do it!

Matthew 21:22
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

ONLY for Christians!

I learned an important lesson from a missionary to China who attended the evangelical church I grew up in.
Our practice was to pray for people that we remembered needing prayer when we got home to our "prayer closet".

He asked me if I wanted prayer for an issue I raised with him. I answered in the affirmative, assuming he would pray later.
I saw someone across the room and excused myself to go speak to this other person. The Chinese missionary objected
saying, "Where are you going?" He wanted to pray for me on the spot. I agreed to let him do that. He then grasped my
hands and turned my palms upward to receive from the Lord. He prayed a simple and direct prayer for me.
This activity was a revelation to me.

More common was a promise to pray for someone that was quickly forgotten and never followed up on.

BTW, have you ever felt you were being told NOT to pray for something for someone?

You should have stuck with the Bible. Not a missionary. No wonder you said:

"And clarity is further confused by the definitions shell game.
Why do we need a secret decoder ring to understand the Bible?
This is Freakin' nuts. (no wonder I don't trust the Bible)"

Some faith healer told one of my friends that if she had faith, she would stop taking her insulin and God would heal her diabetes. That ended poorly.

ok then go to the nursing home and tell all the patience they are healed the greatest healing is when we pass and get our glorified body , you have took what i said and twisted it... so once again if you know of sick folks on medicine tell them to stop because they are healed . explain why someone dies
