your part way making sense but if your diabetic would you throw your meds away ? eat what you want ?
I had cancer years ago. I threw away my meds. Still here. I don't advise anyone, except to trust God of the Bible.

The short answer is "Yes."
But does that mean we have no authority in prayer?

James 4:2 NIV
... You do not have because you do not ask God.
Could you explain what you mean by "authority in prayer"?

That's the second time it's been mentioned in this thread. I don't have any power or authority; that's why I ask the guy who does.

I use BP meds that are proven to work. All I advise is STUDY the Bible. Learn God's promises.

Perhaps we need to compare other "ask and receive" scriptures.
@Cyd has this in her signature line. Notice the caveat.

John 15:7 (KJV) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
μένω
  1. to remain, abide
    1. in reference to place
      1. to sojourn, tarry
      2. not to depart
        1. to continue to be present
        2. to be held, kept, continually
    2. in reference to time
      1. to continue to be, not to perish, to last, endure
        1. of persons, to survive, live
    3. in reference to state or condition
      1. to remain as one, not to become another or different
  2. to wait for, await one

I long time ago, in the long-defunct Ekklesia forum, I started a thread on what it means to be "IN Christ". That and the prayer request for my son are the only threads I've ever started myself, and both get brought up in this one. Full circle.

Do you even read your own posts?

Why do we need a secret decoder ring to understand the Bible?
This is Freakin' nuts. (no wonder I don't trust the Bible)

STV cites the Bible he doesn't trust!

This seems to confirm the "whoever believes in me" qualification in John 14:12.
Unless here is more to this abiding in Him business than simple belief.
But why no additional qualifier in John 14:12?

John 14:12-14 NIV
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing,
and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

I learned an important lesson from a missionary to China who attended the evangelical church I grew up in.

You should have stuck with the Bible. Not a missionary. No wonder you said:

I admire the patience of @St. SteVen, I don't have patience with stalkers, and I would instantly report you.

You admire those who don't trust the Bible? That says a LOT about you.

Thank you Jesus for revealing what's in ProDeo's heart!

By following that logic, the reason my prayers for my stepson weren't answered were because I was not abiding in Christ, correct. (Uh, oh! Do I smell of sulphur?)

That can't be it. So what is the problem here?

I think part of the problem is the level of unbelief in America and the west in general.
Jesus could do only a few miracles in His hometown because of unbelief.
There are reports of those in other countries not struggling with these things as much.
Here are a few of my topics on the subject.

A biblical response to the claims of Cessationism (versus Continuationism)

...gifts such as speaking in tongues, prophecy and healing ceased with the original twelve apostles. This is generally opposed to continuationism, which teaches that the Holy Spirit may bestow the spiritual gifts on persons other than the original twelve apostles at any time. Essentially...

Cessationism versus Continuationism - The fallacy of "Signs Gifts".

...the Holy Spirit were signs to authenticate the early church. And consequently the miracle gifts disappeared when the Apostles did. Continuationism says that all the gifts were for the church and that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still valid today. The book of Acts and 1...
