So God is not highly moral, especially in showing kindness or forgiveness,
as in overlooking insults or not seeking revenge?
'The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times.'

(Psa 12:6)

Hi again, @St. SteVen,

The translators did not choose the word magnanimous when translating the Greek and Hebrew text, and so neither will I. I confine myself to what is written, for to go outside of it could lead me into error.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

Your problem is that you are falling into the trap of our original sin. You are eating from the tree of knowledge and attempting to use it to judge God's morality. You view eternal punishment as unjust in YOUR eyes. What if God's sense of justice far surpassed anything we could imagine? We at least know this, it is something that He is so serious about that He was willing to die on the cross for it. I don't like the idea of eternal fire. I have lost dear people who I love greatly and I am not sure about their destiny. There is no joy in seeing anyone suffer such a fate.

Would you consider yourself kinder than God?

The premise of this statement is so flawed that one can only imagine the extent of your error.
Oh please elaborate with your great wisdom, mighty sage! Please instruct humble student on the error of his view! :Laughingoutloud:

What do you think? Was Satan worthy to exalt himself above the most high? Yet he did it anyway, right?
That's my second question you've side stepped shepherdsword. I think I'll leave it; one can't have a conversation in this climate.

I didn't sidestep anything. I answered you. Of course Satan is not worthy to judge God. However, he does it anyway. Apologies that you have trouble surmising that from my previous answer.

I'm familiar with this mindset.
God gave us a standard of morality. Why would He operate at a LOWER standard than He holds us to?
Christ died to pay the death penalty for all of humankind.

1 John 2:2 NIV
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

I maintain that ten seconds in hell would be enough for anyone to get the message.
Anything beyond that is the most sadistic and pointless torture imaginable.
Is not God in the restoration business?

I would have to judge God's character in order to compare it to myself. Therefore, he is asking me to judge God. Try to keep up.
Why are you incapable of evaluating the kindness of God?
And your own level of kindness in comparison?

Would you incinerate your enemies?
Jesus taught us to love our enemies.

Are you kind enough NOT to incinerate your enemies?

Who are you to say he is operating at a lower standard? You are measuring it by your own standard of right and wrong. This standard is rooted in the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

1 John 2:2 NIV
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
He has also set a requirement of faith as necessary to participate in this salivation

Ro 10:9-11
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

I maintain that Holy God will do what is just. His justice can be hard to perceive from our limited perspective. We are viewing life's parade from the ground level and only see what passes directly in front of us. He sees the entire thing from beginning to end.

It seems you have never seen or held the pearl yourself, and thus cannot comprehend its beauty.
Oh please teach me! I mean, isn't what you can here to do? It seems you don't know the difference either!

Where did our God-given human conscience come from? (and when) ???

Romans 2:14-16 NIV
(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law,
do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves,
even though they do not have the law.
15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts,
their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts
sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)
16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets
through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
