No one would choose that.

Christians have the idea that people choose destruction and refuse well-being.
It looks like "blame the victim" to me, in order to white wash their horrible view of what they think God is up to.

You are assuming no one would choose that because you think it is just a matter of the carnal mind, and are discounting spiritual realities. Many would and do choose that because they are spiritually deceived and in darkness. These things are a matter of the heart/spirit, not the natural mind of man.

I find it odd we are given this detail as though it is hiding something significant about Judas' end.

The inclusion of such a vivid, almost grotesque description in the New Testament may carry symbolic significance, rooted in the Jewish understanding of the importance of God’s mercy. It speaks to how one who meets such an end symbolizes those lost in outer darkness, unreachable by the saving light of God’s mercy.

Look at the title of this thread .
NOW ask yourself how much love the one who brought it
has had for the truth in scriptures .
It should read lets love judas and hate the words of GOD that expose and correct sin .
You do realize what has happened .
Many now , under guise of these leaders , have the love of the world , NOT THE LOVE OF THE FATHER .
but they think its the LOVE of GOD . That is why we see so much anger
and resentment towards certain scrips that expose sin . And only a twisted v ersion of love
that hollers judge not correct not . Kinda odd they darn sure seem to JUDGE QUITE harshly the very words of GOD
And those who bring such words . This generation is being led into all out rebellion against GOD
against Christ and against the sheep .
ONLY to them being led THEY THINK its a love crusade to bring the world TO GOD . NOT GOD SISTER
it leads them as one to another who first rebelled AGAINST GOD
and is teaching them ONLY TO DO THE SAME .

I'm not sure why you linked me to your post, but whether that story was a parable or literal, it seems apparent that the rich man wasn't going anywhere but where he was in hell, in spite of asking.

I am sure you have already noticed sister , WHEN things presented by JESUS contradict the thoughts of men
ALL of a sudden it becomes it was not literal or etc .
THEY always use whatever parts of the bible that get in the way of their beleif ,
As being t his or that , meaning this or that , To continue to BELIEVE as they desired to beleive .
BUT YOU are correct sister .
THE MEANING OF THIS PARABLE sure does show us THE RICH MAN was not going anywhere .
No matter how he begged for comfort and to escape .
T he meaning of this is also to teach us to focus on CHRIST , on doing good
LEST one ends UP in such a place .
AND it also shows us that if one hears NOT THE LAW , THEY WILL NOT HEAR JESUS though he rose from the dead .
FOR EVEN THE LAW POINTED TO THIS JESUS , THE PROPHETS DID too .
Had you Beleived MOSES you would have beleived ME for HE SPOKE OF ME .
T he law and the prophets DID POINT to the ONE who would be crucified and RISE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD .

Most of Israel made it through the GATE. And I don't mean a horror movie. While Jesus was still alive, this wasn't true. But he is no longer the gate, and the numbers those in the book of the life is not as sparse as you might think.

Apostle Paul also emphasized this Truth = Galatians 3:7-9

Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”
