Jesus did not break the Sabbath. Are you speaking of healing? there was no commandment not to heal. Or plucking grain?

Deuteronomy 23:25

None was used. It is lawful to eat on the Sabbath
Let us Walk with the Holy Spirit thru the Scriptures so that we understand = Gal 4:1-5

Part 1
Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, 2but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. 3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

@Brakelite @amigo de christo @Lizbeth

Eating is permitted on the sabbath = working or harvesting or gathering food is NOT.

Exodus 16:15-26 = Give full attention to verses 22 thru 26

And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. 16This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ”

17Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. 18So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need. 19And Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.” 20Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. 21So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted.

22And so it was, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’ ” 24So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. 25Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field.
26Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will be none.”

JESUS intentionally broke the sabbath according to the will of His Father in Heaven = God's GLORY about to be revealed in His SON

Another anti-Catholic thread - filled with the usual ignorant drivel by fa gaggle of uninformed Catholic-haters . . .

John 15:18
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you."

I don't hate Catholics. (I had a reason for making the topic.) In fact I've had a couple of Catholic friends. But I think they were born again...not following rituals to save them but believing on Christ.

One was a Sister who entered her Order at age 17. She served at least 60 years and concentrated on her work since the Church paid for her living and all expenses. And the other Sisters were her family. So I can understand why she didn't leave the Catholic Church after all of those years.

Now my dad was raised Catholic and was an altar boy. In those days everything was in Latin so Catholics didn't understand the sermon or anything...and Catholics didn't read the Bible back then. Just did rituals and went to confession with a priest.

So after dad's altar boy days, he left the Catholic Church (he saw things there) and was an atheist or agnostic for most of his life. I believe the Lord did reach him before he died in 1975 at middle age.

My cousins on dad's side were all sent to Catholic school and Church by their Catholic parents. They had no interest in Jesus or spiritual things. As they got older, they drank, some gambled and they became obsessed with making money, traveling and buying things.

My mom (a born again Christian) who loved the Lord and lived a godly life in Jesus...the Catholic side of the family thought she was odd because she didn't drink or gamble.

I don't hate Catholics. (I had a reason for making the topic.) In fact I've had a couple of Catholic friends. But I think they were born again...not following rituals to save them but believing on Christ.
Catholics don’t believe that we are “saved” by rituals. We are saved by our faith in Christ - and our obedience of that faith. Baptism is a requirement of faith (John 3:5, Mark 16:16, 1 Pet. 3:20-21) – and NOT just window-dressing.
One was a Sister who entered her Order at age 17. She served at least 60 years and concentrated on her work since the Church paid for her living and all expenses. And the other Sisters were her family. So I can understand why she didn't leave the Catholic Church after all of those years.
So, you actually believe it wasn’t her faith – but just a sense of financial security that she stayed?

The Sisters I know are there because of their love for Christ.

Now my dad was raised Catholic and was an altar boy. In those days everything was in Latin so Catholics didn't understand the sermon or anything
NOT true.

I don’t know where your father went to Mass, or if he was just pulling your leg – but the vernacular has ALWAYS been used for preaching (homily/sermon) in the Latin Mass. The Liturgical prayers are all in Latin.

...and Catholics didn't read the Bible back then. Just did rituals and went to confession with a priest.
That’s an unfair generalization.

MANY Catholics over the centuries have read and studied the Scriptures.

So after dad's altar boy days, he left the Catholic Church (he saw things there) and was an atheist or agnostic for most of his life. I believe the Lord did reach him before he died in 1975 at middle age.

That’s unfortunate that your family had such little faith. Blame the individual – not the Church. Following Christ is not for the weak. We seek our strength in Him – and it’s an uphill battle in this world of temptation.

As for the “things” your father saw - you don’t leave Jesus because of something Judas did. ALL humans will fall short of God’s glory. The small percentage of clergy that are now paying the price for their crimes deserve what they got. Too many people blame God for the sins of man.

My mother was a faithful – and Biblically-knowledgeable Catholic for over 90 years. My dad came to faith when he married her and was a shining example of that faith. They raised 13 Catholic children. Many of my siblings left to join Protestant denominations for reasons of their own.

As for “drinking and gambling” – these things are ONLY condemned in Scripture when done in excess. – but so is gluttony. Consuming wine was an integral part of Jewish ritual life in the first century and before. Jesus Himself made 180 gallons of wine at the Wedding in Cana )John 2:1-7).

Drunkenness - not drinking is condemned . . .

Dont ever cave to the victim card . that is how THE TRUTH was and is being silenced .
THEY AINT got nothing else so they throw the HATE CARD .
Dont cave to it . Always remember and remember always
THEY ARE IN DIRE GRAVE DANGER who sit in such a place
And love dont let folks just drown in a lie .
You made a darn good post my friend . You owe this man no apology .
I have watched him and even tried to help him . The man will not budge .
HE or she who warns IS not the one that hates or condemns .
The one who hates and condemns IS the one who wont hear and refuses to repent . THEY hate THE TRUTH
and they condemn themselves . THE WARNER is not the hater .
The one who warns those in danger , IS N OT the hater . not the condemer
They warn because THEY DESIRE NOT the death and d estruction of those in danger .

That's NOT what I said. I said that We are saved by our faith in Christ - and our obedience of that faith. Ultimately, we are saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. HOWEVER, if we don't cooperate with that grace, it doesn't merit ut us a thing.

As for NOT following the "same Jesus" - this is true in MANY cases. The Mormons, JWs have counterfeit versions- and many Protestant sects seem to also have a different Jesus than the one preached about by the Apostles and His Catholic Church.

For instance - anobody who teaches Sola Scriptura id preaching a different Jesus that the Jesus from Scripture . . .

Tell me – was ANYBODY saved in the first 4 centuries, according to YOUR man-mad standard of “Bible Time”?? The Canon of Scripture wasn’t even agreed upon or put together for the first FOUR centuries.

Jesus didn’t leave us with a Bible – He left us with a Church to lead us (Matt. 16:18-19, Matt. 16:15-18, Luke 10:16, John 16:12-15, John 20:21-22).

The Bible wasn’t available to the masses until the invention of the printing press in the 15th century. MOST of the world was largely illiterate until the 18th century. What about THEM? Were they all condemned because they didn’t follow YOUR rule of thumb?

Educate yourself before making these kinds of outlandish statements . . .

Thank you.

It just came to my mind now about my grandma on my mom's side of the family.

Grandma and her 12 siblings had all been raised as Catholics. But at a young age, grandma got born again. And one by one each of her siblings were born again!

Grandma was a gentle, devout Christian and always was reading her Bible and praying. She would even pray for healing for people and believed the Lord for that. She was a good, loving example of Christ.

Faith was never pushed on to me but I can always remember my grandma and my mother praying, especially through difficulties.

Acts of mercy and love are the law, weightier than the minutae often proposed by many as examples of Jesus "breaking" the Sabbath. He did no such thing. He and the disciples picked grains of corn because they were hungry. The Pharisees in their hypocritical legalism placed their interpretations of the law, just as you are doing right there above, accusing Jesus of breaking the Sabbath when in fact He was merely doing what was righteous and good all along. You were correct in one thing... It's perfectly alright to eat on the Sabbath. Picking a fruit from the tree isn't harvesting. In order to sustain your personal arguments against observing the Sabbath you are taking the side of the Pharisees.

Matthew 12:1-8
JESUS Said HE broke the Law and did so intentional as HE pointed to David and his men eating the show bread which is UNLAWFUL

The GLORY of GOD is CHRIST = there is no law upon CHRIST and AFTER HE fulfilled the OT Law HE Enacted His Higher law of LOVE

SDA is seeking to make saturday as equal to CHRIST = as if we who are FREE in Salvation need to be under that OT law

Please READ Galatians 4:1-7 carefully and pray = the TRUTH will set you FREE

Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

i love your post here except for the error

Crystal CLEAR from Moses = gathering food on saturday sabbath is SIN = thus why Moses commanded they gather twice as much on Friday
EATING is NOT

JESUS absolutely broke the the because His Law of Love is HIGHER then the OT law of saturday sabbath = Matt 12:1-8
TODAY, i drove my truck to pray and GATHER Bagels for breakfast = i am FREE from the OT law for i am in CHRIST
HalleluYAH

So also, when we were children, we were enslaved under the basic principlesa of the world. 4But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those under the law, that we might receive our adoption as sons.

David ..............................
oh my near and my dear friend , you give much POWER to the SDA
when you say as you say . People watching all the time my friend .
THE LOVE OF GOD does not and would never trangress the
law . JESUS did not BREAK the law .
Nor trangress the sabbath , NOR would his love have broken it .
He did not trangress , HE simply fullfilled . And notice WHEN DAVID was IN what ...............
IN NEED . the man was starving and so were his people under him , THEY NEEDED FOOD .
Thus he was allowed to eat of the shew bread . NOT JUST for any ol reason . NO but because
THEY were IN DIRE need . Jesus did not break nor trangress in any way the original covenant
Given by GOD and MOSES . HE simply fullfilled it . You give power to the sda without realizing it .
And we sure do not want to do that . Just remind as did paul
Let no man judge you in meats , drinks and days . Do not add too by saying JESUS broke , trangressed the law .
To break the law IS TRANGRESSION of the law .

Why do I have to explain that? The Church has already taught them that rituals won't save them.
