People who take pictures in public, why?

I had one of my usuals come in today, who is generally average-normal, nothing too off. Not great, but not uncomfortable.

Today they came in on the phone and once they got off they had their phone raised up towards my direction and I could hear the camera shutter sound from their phone.

It could be nothing. It's probably nothing. In the age verification era, he could be taking picture of himself, but I asked supervisor if he could check anyway. I would really like the relief of it not being of me.

But I understand there are people who will take pictures of themselves in odd, strange places.

But why?! Or why of other people!?

It's probably worth noting I haven't had a traditional social media account in ten years for more than a day or two and I'm probably out of touch with what is normal. It's still bad etiquette.
