Does questioning Christianity lead to Atheism? (depends)
Is there a cure for my religious upbringing? - other than atheism, I mean.
Hello deconstruction. Atheism, is the obvious over-reaction to escaping a religious upbringing. Study on this issue shows people going in many different directions both toward and away from religion. This video outlines the frustration involved in deconstruction. Let's discuss.www.christianityboard.com
DECONSTRUCTION - How far is too far?
This is somewhat of a follow-up to my previous topic from June 23, 2023: https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/is-there-a-cure-for-my-religious-upbringing-other-than-atheism-i-mean.56346/ Here's another video that talks specifically about the process of deconstruction that Sara Martin went...www.christianityboard.com
Deconstruction, or Reconstruction - Renovating Your Religious Views
Deconstruction is a very scary word to most Christians. Granted, it sound destructive and harmful. When I discovered some deconstructing Christians, I felt as if I was going through a similar process. So, the word didn't bother me too much. I did feel that some of them had taken it too far...www.christianityboard.com
Plundering my religious upbringing - The desert island question
Having looked into deconstruction, and asked myself the tough questions, I have settled on a Deconstruction Lite approach.
I consider myself to be a recovering Evangelical. Many things I was taught, being raised evangelical have come into question.
Like:
- The Hell doctrine
- The origins and nature of the Bible
- Evangelical Apologetics
- Spiritual Gifts
- The church's response to LGBT issues
I attend a Pentecostal church, but the Pastor is very evangelical.
I understand where he is coming from and honestly love the guy.
It's a great church and wonderful people. The worship experience is top notch. IMHO
I value my church membership. But I understand why so many don't attend.
I keep a lid on my thoughts toward evangelicalism when I am at church.
In a small group setting I may ask some challenging questions.
Which makes most folks rather uncomfortable. But some understand.
On the forum I am able to speak out about these things. I appreciate that.
Do others find themselves in a similar position?

Then what happened? The written word of God:
![]()
Exodus 31:18: When He had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.
Everything else is technically just hearsay. Prophets and apostles allegedly heard it and wrote it down.
Is attacking the Bible the only reason you're here? Then what happened?
Moses was the first one to break ALL the Commandments. - LOL
The TCs in the Ark of the Covenant were written by the hand of Moses.
Not sure if that makes them hearsay. ???
Exodus 32:15-16, 19 NIV
Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands.
They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.
16 The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets. ...
19 When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing,
his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands,
breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.

All 10 Commandments at once. That got a chuckle out of me.Then what happened?

More like bazooka and mortar. - LOLI thought we were talking about brick-and-mortar churches.
Right.Deconstruction is a good principle in the face of and because of much that is learned/ programmed misses the mark. The multiple combinations of what has integrity and what doesn't is in our faces all through our lives.
That being said, the deconstruction process is also a precarious business. It is easy to dismantle one view for another only to swap the witch for the bitch......and who can hear/ learn that which does not fade or gather dust?
I'll send you a PM.I have a very very interesting audio presentation (mp3) by Ty Gibson I would like to share with you Steven. I have tried to post it to this forum but it wont accept the upload. Do you have another means of it reaching you?
