It rings true to me as being the main reason, with mankind being unified in it at the time (transgression come to the full..?...which triggered God's judgment). Astrology is very ancient eastern mystic idolatry which God soundly condemns all over the bible...it's of the devil. Seems like that would have been the first instance of such in mankind's history in a corporate way, and then the people would have taken that occult knowledge with them when the Lord scattered them...which is why we see such all over the world in various places with various manifestations of it......makes sense that they all had their origins in Babel.

It has never made sense to me that the Lord could have been worried that their tower was going to literally reach literal heaven where He dwells, but it makes much more sense that it was a "high place" altar for the purpose of seeking god-like power and knowledge from an illicit source (that leads to death, not life).

That is how that Greek word is meant; it's not about the elements of the periodic table of earthly material matter, but about a 'world' age.

The 3 world earth ages is what Peter was covering in that 2 Peter 3 Chapter. The previous 2 world earth ages did not destroy the whole earth, but only cleansed the earth's surface.

That is how 2 Peter 3:10-13 is meant also. And the proof is with all the Bible Scriptures about prophecy after... Jesus' future coming on the "day of the Lord" with His reign on this earth with His elect.

I believe the unity meant transgression had come to the full.....it became ripe for a harvest of judgment...it had filled up the cup of wrath. And it meant it was ruling the whole planet and human race and gave them so much power that the Lord wasn't going to allow....because though He will longsuffer, He will not ultimately reward and spoil people for their iniquity. But is God the author of confusion? Think that might have been a "natural" consequence of their sin and idolatry? (with God presiding over it) Satan's kingdom is divided against itself and that is why it cannot stand?

Look at our society now. ......this world is heading for judgment because of the deception/delusion that has been taking over Christendom this past generation....since the 60's could we say......new age, astrology, occult and Hinduism etc infected the west then in a big way. Psychedelic music and drugs etc too. Spirit of rebellion and illicit sex as well...thoroughly pagan/idolatrous. And along came "political correctness" at the same time, which I found out is a characteristic of new age and Hindu mindset. That silences truth and doesn't tolerate individual thought. I don't know if it plural or not. But it is plainly obvious it is not a place. Common sense alone tells us that. I agree... but it is a pattern in scripture of God's ways....for example, the Israelites were told by God to wait until the iniquity of the Canaanites had come to the full (or words to that effect) before destroying them. Mystery Babylon is another example......she filled up the cup of wrath to her double and not until then was judged/destroyed. If all the people of Nimrod's time were united in their sin, it meant the whole land was full of it, not just a few people, so it meant that iniquity had come to the full, ripened, so to speak, for a harvest of judgment....being cut down. Nimrods' mighty empire got splintered and scattered. House divided cannot stand.

WHY IS THE ZODIAC STUFF SO INTERESTING?

That is so wonderful, makes me worship the Lord. It's so lovely and faithful of the Lord that He remembered Abraham's other sons/descendants so many centuries later to guide them them to the Messiah when He was born. Guessing that Abraham would have told those sons all about the promises God made to him, and they would have passed it down so that is how the Magi knew to look out for Him..? I always wondered how the Magi fit into things. Amazing. Wow, there is always so much to dig out of the scriptures.

In answer to your question, I believe it has both been defeated and put under the feet of Christ, but also that we do not yet "see" all thing put under His feet, according to 1 Cor 15. Satan is prince of this world, so his kingdom is this fallen world and we see that it is still divided against itself, with wars, disputings and strifes. Whenever another soul is saved and translated out of this kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light we see more ground being taken from Satan and put under the feet of Christ. But also this world (and the devil) has an appointment day with God's wrath, to be destroyed and ended, and so "to finish the work" of God. As I understand it. How do you see this?

I too wondered about the Maji connection for years.

The Chaldeans were in Babylon when Daniel was. And the Chaldeans even spoke in ARAMAIC (language of Jesus) when they were called to help decipher the dream. I have a footnote in my bible which says from Daniel 2:2- the end of chapter 7 was all Aramaic. I have a pastor friend who just preached, a couple Sundays ago, about how the Maji from the East at Bethlehem were decendents of the Chaldeans in the book of Daniel.

Yes, the Magi were strongly associated with the Chaldeans who were believed to be Abrahams decendents.
DAN 2:10 The Chaldeans answered the king, "There is not a man on earth who can meet the king's demand; for no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.

Very interesting stuff and I appreciate you sharing it. Well, what may be known of God is written in creation, which includes the stars. Astrology takes it too far though, and doesn't glorify God.

I agree. But Jesus did not crush "all things" under His feet. He just inherited ALL the AUTHORITY to crush ALL THINGS. But the actual fulfillment of "crushing" he, that had the power of death. And that wasn't Satan it was the devil; "him that had the power of death the devil" Heb 2:14 is left for 'the body of Christos, which is not seated in heaven where Jesus is. But it is still upon earth and it is our job to now be "destroying every rule and every authority and power." 1Cor 15:26 And we are to do that before "then the end comes" 1Cor 15:24. Then Jesus will, upon His return; receive....."The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord (Jesus) and of His Christ (US who are overcomers)," Rev 11:15.

Jesus never had ALL AUTHORITY over death until AFTER his resurrection.

PHI 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 THEREFORE God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Many believers claim, because of this verse above that THEY HAVE ALL AUTHORITY. Not true. Jesus has it and gives it to US when we are confessing HIS INSPIRED words with our mouths.

King Satan's KINGDOM has many lessor KINGDOMS in it. And the devil offered them to Jesus in the Garden. Jesus never received them. Jesus wasn't after KINGDOMS....he was after the AUTHORITY of the KING....of ALL KINGDOMS. IMO.

LUK 4:5 And the devil took him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,
6 and said to him, "To you I will give all this authority and their glory; for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
