"""and most the time it is the women that speak in tongues and it is a blessing."""
Is the audience or tongue speaker able to understand or interpret what they are saying ?
If yes, can you give an example ?
""At Pentecost it was a different type of tongues, they spoke in different languages and each heard them in their own language.""At Pentecost it was a different type of tongues, they spoke in different languages and each heard them in their own language.
Speaking in tongues in Holy Ghost churches can be an incredible experience. I am sure some here can back me up on this. Its the hearing and the feeling in your chest and mind. Even if you are not the one speaking in tongues. You can feel the wonderful feeling of the presences of the Holy Spirit and sometimes you can see it. Looking acrossed the room at times I could see the effects on the people as it moved passed them. And when the Holy Spirit came around to me I could feel the motion in the air and that incredible feeling.
You cannot understand the people speaking in tongues, but the words have a strong effect on you.....inspirational. And you can see it having the same effect on other people. The feeling that God is there and participating. At times there is an interpreter and it is usually inspirational. Then at times you have people that dance and roll around when they are speaking in tongues. I get worried that they will hurt themselves dancing or rolling and I and others would get a hold of them to keep them safe and you feel what was going on with them. The Holy Spirit touches you and warms your whole body.
Imparting the Holy Spirit to others. The preach would bless people standing and hit them in the forehead and they would fall over and people would catch them. I kind of figured they were falling over because it was expected of them.....until it happened to me. When you come to it like you have been in Heaven....its great.
I have never had the blessing of speaking in tongues but I would welcome it.

""At Pentecost it was a different type of tongues, they spoke in different languages and each heard them in their own language.""
That is the purpose of tongues, to be understood by others including the talker.
Can you list an occasion today where 'tongues' is understood & interpreted by others ?
If not, then the only 'tongues' today are UNKNOWN tongues which is simply a 'talker' using it as a means of themselves praying to God but not God talking to them.

1CO 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:Does the Bible indicate that Paul spoke in tongues?
You are from Nairobi in Kenya. What language are you referring to above Brother MJ?I need to do more research on that you say they tongues at pentecost is different from what we speak

""Does the Bible indicate that Paul spoke in tongues?""Does the Bible indicate that Paul spoke in tongues?
If not what I explained he had not experienced.
And like I said sometimes there are interpreters.
And on your question....Can you list an occasion today where 'tongues' is understood & interpreted by others ?
There have been too many to remember. But some of them was on prayer and worship and hymns.
For example; Prayer is a reflection of your character. At one time I remember a request for a prayer chain. And another that charity should start within the church.

Because the Holy Bible is the authority which tells us so!So, are you saying that with regards to speaking in tongues, the sign, itself, to an unbeliever is that tongues are good? So Its a positive sign?
Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith, teach yourself first before you teach others, and before you become 'shipwrecked' as a result.I'm done FREDDY......Unteachable spirit IMO.
Seriously?Have you ?
I will leave you to answer your own question as I leave this thread and keep this scripture in mind I will post .
Even 'demons' know and obey them too!Philippians 2:12 Context
9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
I have been taught, but not just by listening to teaching about tongues that scared me when I first heard it. I went home and studied it for a week. And I didn't just study by reading the written word, but by letting the Spirit of the spoken word speak to me during that week. Then I got it, a week later, from the same Brother who scared me the week before. I have taught it and ministered it to many since. You see Fred, just reading the dead letter of the 'written word' ends up with just having a doctrine that puffs up. People I've ministered it to, all felt my love for the truth I wanted to share with them.Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith, teach yourself first before you teach others, and before you become 'shipwrecked' as a result.
My wife told me of a Chinese lady missionary visiting here in Alabama at the local church . One of the regular church members spoke a message in tongues during a church service . But problem was after the message in tongues was given no one offered an interpretation . Then the Chinese missionary spoke up and said the message was for her , it was spoken in Cantonese . Part of the message was for her and part was for her church back home in China . She said the message was delivered in perfect Cantonese , the lady that spoke the tongues message in Cantonese spoke Appalachian :) like me ."""and most the time it is the women that speak in tongues and it is a blessing."""

ya need a bigger stick to stir withYou seem to think women are given Pauline authority to speak in tongues, do you?
Correct , the church member spoke English of the southern USA style . She did not know Cantonese .The 'regular church member' does not know Cantonese ?
Social media has plenty of Church services recorded online for others to watch world-wide.Correct , the church member spoke English of the southern USA style . She did not know Cantonese .
Convincing truth for YOU here on this forum about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit is going to be hard to come by .Social media has plenty of Church services recorded online for others to watch world-wide.
As yet I have not found any Acts 2:4 'speaking in a language unknown by the tongue talker'.
Can you list any ?
