“My opinion as a Messianic Jew: It’s plain wrong to vandalize other people’s religious artifacts, but let’s be honest: Worshipping a statue of Jesus is totally pagan. Tens of millions of Christians in the world do not worship statues, they reject it as idolatry and that’s why evangelical churches don’t have Jesus-on-the-cross images in their churches, let alone worship them. Even the 2nd of the 10 commandments plainly prohibits it: ‘Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.’

The IDF soldier who desecrated the statue made a mistake but considering things soldiers do in war to real human beings, it is ridiculous that the state of Israel should even feel it has to respond to this.”

because both sides are hyprocrites . And none follows the LORD GOD and HIS CHRIST .
they preach the same false solution too . In slighlty differing ways of course to feed the people they deceive .
BOTH sides are under the sway of believing in a plan they BELEIVE will usher in world peace .

BUT their politics are different . MEANING one side is SO called pro israel while the other side is so called pro palestine .
AND NIETHER SIDE IS PRO GOD for they are not PRO JESUS .

I've seen reports of Jews that do not like Christians and don't like them at the wailing wall. I suppose that might be behind the smashing of the statue. But, I guess, the soldier found out everyone doesn't share his views.

@Behold lives in Israel part-time. I’m sure he could give us the rundown on the general attitude of unbelieving Jews toward Christians.

I don’t think the IDF has a warm heart for Christianity. They have good political sense and, imo, reacted quickly to assuage their biggest ally (the United States).

I would like to ask the IDF soldier what his thinking was as he did that .

I've seen reports of Jews that do not like Christians and don't like them at the wailing wall.

They say if you visit do not show overt signs you are a Christian , cover up your cross that is around your neck if you have one .

Would you leave a note in the Western Wall in Jerusalem ?

Would you leave a message/note in the Western Wall if you did get to visit sometime ? And what is your reason you would or would not . Some Christians I know have left notes in the Western Wall . I am not giving my answer yet but I would like to hear your thoughts about this practice .

That makes me sad.
At least the leader of Israel has condemned the action. He has vowed to pay for the repair of the statue and to discipline the soldiers that were involved.

Many say many things .
But a candel is not bought to be hidden under a bed but rather to give light .
As far as outward dress , i am more concerned with THE INWARD and the f ruits i be seeing in many
who even lip the lovely NAME of JESUS . I see bad figs , so bad they cannot be eaten .
FOR i see MUCH REBELLION being taught by , yes even a lot within christendom , and they call it love and being loving .
WELL its NOT THE LOVE OF GOD that is for sure . ITS of the world . AND IT DO and IT WILL
allow sins and unbeleif to remain. NOT GOOD , nor is it the LOVE OF GOD .
SO i suggest we all POINT TO JESUS and ALL things HE and later the apostels taught , and all sound doctrine .
