Yay or nay? Honestly, I would be concerned about the drone crashing or losing the pizza. Not to mention this also means delivery people will lose their jobs to technology.

The delivery robots in LA are very determined. You gotta admire a robot trying to do it's best.

Yes they certainly are. The first time I ever ran into one was when I looked up and there was one just several feet from me. It saw me coming and stopped. We were under a construction scaffolding.

I stood there, surprised. Then the robot tried to get out of the way but a big planter was blocking it. So I moved to the side and then it came down the sidewalk.

I think they are really cute. Seen about five of them now.

Poor robot in flooded West Hollywood street.

In this case, you have to wonder if the compartment is waterproof. :IDK:

If a person can control the robot or drone, that same person can deliver a pizza. Only one person can control a drone/robot, not more than one. Technology for Gps cannot work on the ground because of pedestrians and unintended obstacles.

My major concern is that you Americans call pizza a pie.
A PIE. Really. Only in America :Laughingoutloud:

I've seen these robots and it is interesting how they make their way around. They cross streets and avoid obstacles.

He said in the video that the robots go very short distances. Its interesting, but I didn't see a lock on the box for the pizza. I wonder if anyone hungry could just open it up and grab it.

I think you have to enter a code to open the box. The restaurant would give you the code.

They're driven by AI. They have cameras that use lasers, probably infrared, to see what's in front of them. So if you're walking on the sidewalk and step in front of one, it'll see you and stop.

That being said, there's still a human on the other end that can take control of the robot requests help. The biggest issue for them is dealing with steps, elevators, etc. The next generation of robots will be humanoid to solve this problem.

At a mall in downtown Los Angeles several years ago, there was a huge, white robot. It was my height and kind of chunky...lol. It had a large round "head" and a large cylinder shaped body. It rolled around and you could ask it questions if needed.

I believe Italians call it a Pizza pie. I order a pizza and nobody I've ever seen or saw in any Pizza franchise or restaurant called it a pie.

I did some research and found that they don't call it a pie in Italy they just call it a pizza.
Only Americans call it a pie. Anyway enjoy your pizza pies. clfh
