All I know is prophecy is said to cease at some point in the bible, and i dont believe anyone can really argue with me about that.
I believe the spirit of Christ is the same in all people when they are active in faith and abiding in Christ.. allowing the nurutre of heavenly attributes to come from them, but it is from Jesus, and not themselves.
I dont believe in people touching people and healing them either - i witness this stuff as a child and it was scary people i never wanted to be there ever again though i think i may seen one more type of church like it and then many different ones after that through out life.
I believe that God and Jesus have accomplished what they needed to and people who think they are still more to come - could be wrong so I just believe how I do....
So no one can really judge me for that. I dont mind sharing some of my thoughts honestly. I dont get to do it that often.
Prophecy ceases when that which is perfect is come, but Jesus is the only perfect one, and He has not returned yet. We do not yet know even as we are known.
I Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the
gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be
prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and
we prophesy in part.
10 But
when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but
then shall I know even as also I am known.
Laying hands on sick people is biblical. Mature believers can heal the injured and suffering victims of disease, through the awesome power of God inside them, that being the Holy Spirit.
James 5
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
