It is amazing how this could have ever been a real topic of discussion prompting Christians to eventually reply to debunk it, but that it the kind of affect Tik Tok now has on contemporary society. The basic implied claim that is (never officially stated that I'm aware of) but supposedly a cat will not step on A Koran to get at something it wants like a can of food, treat etc. and that somehow proves the supernatural truth of the Koran (because the cat can innately sense it's holiness) rather than a more Occam's Razor explanation that cat's take "the path of least resistance" and find stepping over or around a Koran more efficient at getting at the goodie in question.

This has never come up in any of my conversations with Muslims. I wasn’t aware before reading it here that there are videos made by Muslims which present the idea. Now I know that there are.

So,

Do Muslims assert that a cat will not walk on the Quran?

AI Overview had this to say about it -

“While some Muslims share viral videos suggesting cats refuse to walk on the Quean to highlight the book’s sacred nature, this is a cultural or personal belief, not an official Islamic doctrine.

The idea is often circulated as a heartwarming anecdote or a demonstration of faith. However, Islamic theology does not state that animals possess a built-in supernatural awareness that prevents them from walking on the Holy Book.

Key perspectives include:

• The Theological View: Official Islamic teachings (such as the Quran and Hadith) do not assert that cats avoid stepping on the text. While Islam holds the Quran in the highest reverence, mainstream scholars do not rely on animal behavior to validate its holiness.

• The Cultural View: Many Muslims strongly respect cats refuse to- often citing the affection of the Prophet Muhammad had for his own cat, Muezza. Consequently, many believers view cats as naturally clean and pure animals, leading some to interpret a cat avoiding a Quran as a sign of divine respect.

• The Skeptical / Scientific View: Skeptics and pet owners point out that cats do not inherently recognize the holiness of books. They assert that any animal behavior avoiding the Quran is typically coincidental, often driven by a cat’s preference to avoid awkward, elevated, or unfamiliar textures.

Ultimately, while the idea makes for popular internet folklore, it is not a tenet of Islamic faith.”

If a Muslim ever brings the subject up in conversation me, I’m just going to ask the Muslim if it is official Islamic doctrine and go from there.

I learned something this morning. Thank you @Pavel Mosko.

lol well I could have told you it was not a formal tenet of Islam. Interesting things do happen with modern day Dawah, folks at Speakers Corner and of course people plugging Islam on Tik Tok sometimes with vary inane reasons. So far the much more serious and relevant "Islamic Dilemma" seems to be stirring up things, privately getting a lot of Muslims worried behind the scenes. I also like the work Pfander Films and his work with archelogy basically taking Shabir Alley's Historical Critique and applying it to Islam, that is the classic case of "Those that live in glass houses should not throw stones". Right now it looks like Mecca was not even the original Islamic Holy city, but Petra actually was! According to the very early Mosques and where they point to etc.

But back on topic, overall the Cats and the Koran does fit some of the "Scientific Evidence for the Koran" narrative that you sometimes get with modern Dawah Apologists where they cherry pick the Koran for proof of modern science, while selectively ignoring the many areas where the Koran is wrong when it comes to modern day science. I did find the cultural aspects of cats that you mentioned very interesting. It's interesting the ways Islam echoes Judaism, but also makes other things completely Hallal that were actually unclean in the Old Testament.
