@Armour of God

I just want to make one final point and maybe it will help you out in your own life or help others out in their own life if you share it with them okay? I typed all this out and just let co-pilot add the scripture to it and perhaps this will help you even more.

Dreams of course no one can control. Dreaming is not sinful. But if a person see themselves harming other people or whatever, they should naturally understand that it's not good to do those things ya know or what, or people who have sexual dreams - sex is not wrong to begin with... anyway... as long as people are of adult age and consenting.

See, Jesus died for the sin of the whole world. He already took care of that at the cross. Scripture says, “He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2). That’s why we need a Savior — because none of us could deal with sin ourselves.

When a person looks to Him, learns from Him, abides in Him, dies with Him, and rises with Him into newness of life, they become spiritually alive. Paul says, “If we died with Christ… we shall also live with Him” (Romans 6:8), and “walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). That’s when a real relationship with God begins.

It’s not sin that keeps people from God anymore — Jesus already handled that. Scripture says, “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them” (2 Corinthians 5:19). The real barrier is people believing they can’t come to God because they’re imperfect.

But we’re all imperfect. Jesus is the One who bridged the gap. “For through Him we both have access to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18). He opened the way.

The problem is when a person believes what they did somehow blocks their relationship with God. There’s a lot of manipulation and fear‑based teaching around sin, and people end up focusing more on their failures than on seeking the Lord. But Jesus said, “Abide in Me… for apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4–5). Looking to Him is what keeps us from falling back into the old nature.

It’s like when Peter sank in the water — it wasn’t the storm that pulled him down, it was taking his eyes off Jesus. And yet Jesus immediately reached out His hand and pulled him up (Matthew 14:30–31). That’s the picture of grace.

So it’s not sin that keeps people away — Jesus dealt with that. It’s when people stop looking at Him and start looking at themselves instead of the One who saves.

I disagree with that.
I can't control my dreams.
Do you think thoughts can be sinful?
Thoughts can be sinful. Remember what Jesus said about adultery:

(Mat 5:27) "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.'
(Mat 5:28) But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Paul wrote to the Philippians:

(Php 4:8) Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

That surely presupposes that it is wrong, sinful, to let our thoughts dwell on things that are ignoble, unjust, impure, unlovely and of evil report.

Yes that's basically what I said in a later post

Sorry, I somehow missed that one.

"Jesus also said something like, if you look at a woman with lust on your mind then you are committing adultery in your heart.

But I can't control my initial thoughts, they just spring into my mind, I see a beautiful woman and lust immediately fills my mind.
I don't think that is sinful but if you keep on thinking about it and pondering it then it does become sinful"

Thanks for that. I searched for, and found, your post 15 when you replied to my post 22. Thanks anyway.

I agree that we cannot stop sinful thoughts springing into our minds, but as you say, we shouldn't dwell on such thoughts.

We're talking about sex dreams aren't we? :wavinghand
Somebody must've had a wet dream last night.

I wouldn't obsess over whether we committed a sin by dreaming of, say, sex or violence. But if dreams originate in our subconscious, does that not indicate that some part of us is still depraved and tainted by so-called "original sin"?

In your dreams have you ever realized you were actually dreaming ?
Yes. Sometimes the dreams are so weird that I even choose to wake myself out of it. And do.

Have you ever realized you were actually dreaming ?

Yes, in some actual dreams I've realized I was dreaming.
That's why I believe (but could be wrong) that if we sin in a dream that we know we are dreaming in then that action is deliberate sin.

I think you have to hold a lot of faith in the power of sin to believe that.
Dreams are figments of the sleepers imahgination, the unconscious person.
It isn't sin when we're unconscious.

But,to each their own.

Did you pray before you went to sleep?
If yes, then how could you sin?
Do you repent when you first wake up?

Since there's no part of the Bible that says we can be held accountable for our dreams,I think the sin question really isn't an issue.

Lighten up folks.

Yes, sinful dreams indicate a sinful attitude in the deeper self. Sinful dreams are not consciously generated, but they are produced by the sleeping personality, so they are not totally innocent.

The dream itself would be sinful when the waking self enjoys the dream. Apologizing to God for having the sinful dream would be good.

Soon, breathing oxygen will be considered a sin. Even in dreams. :funlaugh2

Every time we sin we need to repent otherwise we lose the Eph 1:13, Eph 4:30 HS seal ?
