To keep it respectful, let's avoid describing the events during the dream but classify them as sinful.
Hands up those who had/have them :hmhehm
.
In day to day life, you do the right thing yet come dream time sometime you don't.
Are you sinning ???

No.

We're in a state of unconsciousness when we dream.

I have dreams where I'm sinning but surely that's not a sin, I'm sleeping, unconscious, not in control of my thoughts or the actions in my dream.

Do you think it's a sin to have sinful dreams?

Some post-saved, dreams for me have confirmed the reality of GOD.
I've had dreams where in them I realized they were actual dreams.
That being the case I believe the in-dream actions were sin, though not in the flesh they were still sin.

I disagree with that.
I can't control my dreams.

What do say God looks at? And do people reap what they sow? Consequences exist for murdering people right?

So you agree that we can't willfully sin and be saved.
There is also repentance. God forgives our sins if we truly repent, right?

In your dreams have you ever realized you were actually dreaming ?

Sometimes. It's known as a lucid dream.
Have you ever had a dream that you were dreaming? It's known as a false awakening and it surely is something unusual

Lucid dreams are fun. I once tried to convince a person in my dream that it was a dream, and he looked confused. :funlaugh2

The dream itself, probably not, but if in-dream you know you are dreaming then you probably are able to control some of what you do.
You probably have never had a dream where in-dream you knew you were dreaming.-- >> LUCID dreams
Can thoughts be sinful ? :-
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Yea sure I have, quite often. I think everyone has had a lucid dream before

Jesus also said something like, if you look at a woman with lust on your mind then you are committing adultery in your heart.

But I can't control my initial thoughts, they just spring into my mind, I see a beautiful woman and lust immediately fills my mind.
I don't think that is sinful but if you keep on thinking about it and pondering it then it does become sinful

I’m not framing salvation around “willfully sinning” the way you are. Sin has already been dealt with at the cross. The real issue isn’t tallying sins — it’s who I’m giving my allegiance to. I either worship myself or I worship God.

Repentance isn’t me trying to scrub sin off my record. It’s turning my attention toward God in faith. When I look to Him, He deals with the sin. When I look to myself, I fall back into the flesh.

So yes, God forgives — but forgiveness isn’t a revolving door of sin management. It’s a relationship. The question isn’t “Did I sin too much?” The question is “Am I trusting God or trusting myself?”

Self focus is the trap. When self focus reigns the prison of your own making holds you in its clutches.

Where is Jesus when self focus is the priority? Forgotten? Abandoned? Not thought of as important? Do not see the connection?

Sin has already been dealt with at the cross

Ok so we both agree about willful sinning and repentance. It's this phrase
"Sin has already been dealt with at the cross"
that I don't quite understand. Can you please elaborate on what you mean by that?

From co-pilot

When I say “sin has already been dealt with at the cross,” I’m talking about what Jesus accomplished once for all in His death — not about whether believers should repent or avoid willful sin. We agree on repentance and obedience. I’m talking about the legal side of sin, not the behavioral side.

Scripture teaches that the penalty, power, and charge of sin were handled at the cross before we were even born.

Penalty: “The wages of sin is death” — and Jesus died that death (Romans 6:23, Hebrews 2:9). • Payment: “One sacrifice for sins forever” (Hebrews 10:12). • Removal of the record: “Where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin” (Hebrews 10:18). • Power broken: “Sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:14).

So when I say sin has been dealt with, I mean:

Jesus already took the full penalty, ended the need for further sacrifice, and broke sin’s legal claim over us. That doesn’t mean we live however we want. It means our repentance flows from what He already finished — not from trying to pay for sin ourselves.

1. In Scripture, sin is first a condition, not an action

Before anyone does anything sinful, Scripture says we are “sold under sin” (Romans 7:14) and “by nature children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3).

That means sin is a state of being, a power, a condition humanity inherited from Adam.

Actions come out of that condition.

Jesus Himself said:

“A tree is known by its fruit.” (Matthew 12:33)
The fruit (behavior) reveals the tree (nature/condition).

2. Behavior is the expression of sin, not the essence

Lying, lust, anger, pride — those are acts of sin. But the Bible treats them as symptoms of a deeper root.

Paul says:

“Sin… dwells in me.” (Romans 7:17)
He doesn’t say “sinful behaviors dwell in me.” He says sin itself — as a power — lives in the flesh.

So behavior is the manifestation, not the definition.

3. Jesus dealt with sin at the root, not just the fruit

This is why the cross is so final.

If sin were only behavior, Jesus could have just taught better morals.

But He came to:

  • take away the sin of the world (John 1:29)
  • condemn sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3)
  • put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Hebrews 9:26)
Those verses aren’t talking about behavior. They’re talking about the power, guilt, and legal charge of sin.

4. After the cross, believers still commit sinful behaviors — but sin no longer defines them

This is the tension people often confuse.

  • The nature of sin was crucified with Christ (Romans 6:6).
  • The record of sin was wiped out (Colossians 2:14).
  • The power of sin was broken (Romans 6:14).
  • But the flesh still exists and can act out (Galatians 5:17).
So yes, sinful behaviors still happen — but they don’t come from a “sin nature” that still owns you. They come from the flesh, which is weak, not evil in essence.

So is sin a behavior?

No — sin is a condition, a power, a principle. Behavior is just the outward expression of that condition.

That’s why Jesus had to deal with sin at the cross, not just teach us to behave better.

Dreams are generally something you can't control. It would be like getting upset that you can't control North Korean foreign policy. It just ain't worth borrowing that kind of trouble.
