"election"... was in God's mind before Satan fell.
So, this election, in your verse, is specific to being "in Christ"........so, you have to be there first........for the election to be in process for you.
Now the lying Calvinists teach that you are pre-destined to be elected.........and you have no choice.
Whereas Paul teaches that once you are "in Christ" then the election becomes engaged.
See, everything within SALVATION is based on first becoming "in Christ", and then a lot is Pre-destined to happen to you, once you are In Christ.
For example, you are predestined to "be conformed into the image of Christ".
So, just as a person who is born again, 2 mins ago, is now as righteous as Jesus.....as they START this way......as that is how you begin your Christianity..... 'made righteous".....= .you start finished, regarding being "made righteous"......and now being righteous, you begin your daily discipleship.
And Likewise......once you are IN CHRIST>..... (born again spiritually), then that is the starting position that brings many things that are predestined to happen, ONCE you are "in Christ".
But you're not predestined to be saved......you are given the opportunity....and once you accept it.. = once God has accepted your faith, then you are put "in Christ" and that begins many things that God has pre-destined to happen to the born again believer.
You initially wrote that it keeps them BELIEVING......... so, that is what you posted previously that i was just discussing in the (see above) post to you.
And yes, God is faithful to complete our Salvation., and thank God for that, or noone would make it to Heaven.

Yes, the Gospel is the Power of God.........and when you believe it, this power of God brings to you the new birth, and all the rest of what God does for us in an instant.
Christians who are badly taught, have a real issue with understanding what it means to become a Christian.
Most want to argue that a Christian is not made righteous, and they have to go and try to do it......which is impossible.
In fact, the righteousness that we receive from God, is "The GIFT of Righteousness".

There are 2 proofs that a person is a Christian, and posting verses and arguing that you can lose your salvation, is not proving a person is saved.
In fact, it tends to prove the opposite, as, its a curious thing to realize that if you dont understand Salvation, then can you actualluy be a Christian?

I meet people who are saved 50 yrs and can't understand how God saved them using the BLOOD and DEATH of His only begotten Son.
All they can talk about is sinning, and repenting of sin, and confessing it, and trying to be good., and losing salvation.... and that is not Christianity.
That is a religious pretender, hell bound., worried about keeping commandments and confessing sin.... and probably water baptized on the way .

Jesus is Eternal Life, so, He knows what He's offering is "the Gift of Eternal Life".
If Jesus is in you, then you have eternal life as He is eternal life.
"I have come to give them LIFE".. Jesus said.....and that is ETERNAL., and that is one more evidence for "The Case for Eternal Security".
Your verse is given before Jesus was crucified, and Its talking about the original Apostles.
However, when we receive eternal Life from Jesus, then : "you shall never go to Hell (Perish)""".
A follower is a disciple.
A Christian is a SON-Daughter of God, born again Spiritually.....= big difference.
Every Christian should have a private talk with God and say.....>"Father, im yours.....do with me what is best for you".
Most never even consider this type of total surrender.
Christianity is based on being born again.........its not based on behavior modification or water baptism or adoring Mary.
We have to always realize that God saved us while we were """YET SINNERS"".........not after we tried to be good.
"Jesus came into the world to save sinners".. and we all qualified long before we were saved.
The Romans 7 "challange" that faces all Christians is......"when are you going to stop trying to keep the law and commandments to try to stay saved, and instead rest in God's Grace understanding you can never be lost".
Most never find that revelation and that keeps them from truly enjoying God's peace.
Most mental illness is rooted in anxiety.
Anxiety is based on having no inner peace, and can't find any.
Its mostly just guilt inside them.
How to solve that?
Jesus said......."come unto me all who are heavy laden and i will give you REST". = REST from your worries and anxiety and guilt.
That REST is directly connected to God causing your conscience to stop tormenting you.....and there goes your mental illness.
