Wait, Jesus is "Melchisedek". He is after that order. Hebrews 7

We have to choose between the Melchisedek(Jesus) priesthood(that was changed) or the Aaronic priesthood,

They cannot be mingled.

Jesus was from Judah, disqualifying him, per the Law, from the OT Law for priests.

This is a huge change....

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

So, we cannot place ourselves between other believers to receive tithes for Jesus.

We cannot give tithe to Jesus. Nor can we receive it for Jesus. We are all equals as priests under 1 high priest(hood).

There is no mediator between us and Jesus.

We have nothing to do with the OT Law if we are born again.(and walking in the Spirit)
Agreed!

We are not to take any 'word or letter' pertaining to the Law of Moses and reintroduced in the New Covenant/Testament/Agreement.

The Spiritual Law of righteousness from Moses is about abounding in men sin, followed by bondage, curse and finally death eternally, which was set merely as a 'custodian' in the beginning.

Until whence the New Covenant given and made by Jesus Christ, where all born again or new creation henceforth come under the 'umbrella' of grace to eternal life.

The 'umbrella' that cover us from the former 'rain', even in off seasons, containing substance of that which has been 'abolished' and not suitable for the enviroment and people of grace.

Again to repeat, we're not to follow the faith 'of' Abraham, conducts which required of him alone, by the 'covenant' given and made by GOD in his time.

But rather, we're to follow the faith 'like' Abraham, conducts which require of us under grace, by the 'New Covenant' given and made by Jesus Christ in our time, period

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Romans 7:
14. For we know that the Law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Romans 3:
23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of GOD;
24. Being justified freely by HIS grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Romans 6:
14. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under hte Law, but under grace.

James 2:
10. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Galatians 3:
10. For as many as are of the works of the Law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law to do them.
11. But that no man is justified by the Law in the sight of GOD, it is evident: for; The just shall live by faith.
12. And the Law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
19. Wherefore then serveth the Law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
24. Wherefore the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26. For ye are all the children of GOD by faith in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:
15. Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the Law of commandments contained in the ordinance; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

The Methodist church am attending, born again believers within have addressed their convcern to the pastor.

Since the church had authorised 'tithes' and 'a tenth from their income', compulsory from the monthly salary in honor of the Lord.

And likewise there are many other churches worldwide pracfrice the same as well;. (besides other offerings)

Therefore the pastor in response gave a verse, saying that Jesus Himself required of it.

On this matter, to be continued in my next reply, thank you.

When Jesus was telling the pharisees to tithe according to the Law he meant it.

Good thing there are no pharisees or Sadducees in the NT church.

Your pastor thinks Jesus' OT command to particular people are for everyone today.

He is willfully ignorant of the context.

Has he plucked out his offending eyes or cut off his hand yet?

Right, he only keeps the lucre Law.

When Jesus was telling the pharisees to tithe according to the Law he meant it.
He meant it then because the Law was still their 'schoolmaster' until it is 'fulfilled'.

Matthew 5:
17. Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.

Therefore when was it all been fulfilled?

John 19:
30. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

How do we know that the Law has been 'abolished'?

Matthew 27:
51. And, behold, the veil of the Temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

This 'veil' is at the Most Holy Place in the Temple, and where GOD's presence resides above the 'Ark of the Covenant'.

Now since it's 'torn', signifies that GOD's presence no longer residing there, and the ordained Levi Great High Priest have no business there.

And hencforth the significant Temple and HIS presence that go ahnd in hand with the Law of Moses for the Israelites, have been 'destroyed' by the Romans, with not even one stone left standing.

GOD have since give and made with HIS church the New Covenant/Agreement/Testament through HIS Son who accomplished the 'fulfillment'.

Where is GOD's presence now and who are HIS Temple now?
Good thing there are no pharisees or Sadducees in the NT church.
Mind you, there are, resembling for one, those who reintroduce 'tithes' and 'one tenth of giving', among others in the Old Covenant/Agreement/Testament.

Matthew 23:
2. Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3. All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
4. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne; but they themselves will not move them with one of their finger
s.

The pastors or man of GOD in church give us sermons pertaining to our faith based on the New Testament, for that am to do.

But if one 'deviate' from the New Testament, example, go on about 'tithes' and 'one tenth in giving' among others, that i do not.

For the record, church you're no longer under 'hired shepherd' in the New Covennat, for they're done with by GOD beginning with Ezekiel HE already prophesied!

HE came and is within you the Good Shepherd is the Holy Ghost represents, but you're to be thoroughly discipled in the All Scripture=Holy Bible! (2Timothy3:16&17)

You're not anyone's slave but a fellowservant, even if you're a care taker of a church, apparently the least important position held and the least person you shall be on earth!

Rest assured under the New Covenant/Agreement/Testament, the lowest and unimportant you are and serve well gladly in anything.

The highest and most important you are in Heaven, greater than any pastors or men of GOD holding honor on earth, for even God 'washed' and 'wiped' the feet of His disciples setting example!!
Your pastor thinks Jesus' OT command to particular people are for everyone today.
He's not my pastor but a chosen leader by that sect who founded their church after John Wesley, and in ignorance of who he was.

Am attending the church because of John Wesley, who promised and laid down his life, that even 'plower' will know the word of GOD.

His 'goal' was that the All Scripture=Holy Bible shall be the sole authority over the church, from the rich to the poor, while he served as a servant making sure.

Every truly born from above, born of water and of the Holy Ghost believer have for themselves personally the 'Good Shepherd Jesus' who'll shepherd them.

Pastors and man of GOD are fellow servants with us who leads the fellowship, reminding us and stirring up our mind about the same thing, like iron sharpens iron.
He is willfully ignorant of the context.
'Blind guide to the blind', scribes and Pharisees of the NT.
Has he plucked out his offending eyes or cut off his hand yet?
Yet he's GOD's servant put in place, like even king Saul of Israel, king David still honored.

GOD must send someone to correct and warn, therefore we need in togetherness pray, thank you.

Christians are not required to live according to the Law to obtain salvation because that was accomplished by Jesus' death and resurrection.

However, some of the OT requirements shed light on how we ought to conduct ourselves.

Would most churches condone a man coming to the church regularly in women's clothing?
“A woman must not put on men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women’s clothing.
Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the LORD your God.
(Deut 22:5)

The NT refers to homosexuality but does not define it clearly as the OT does.
“ ‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman,
both of them have done what is detestable
. (Lev 20:13)

We know that giving money to the work of God is a NT practice.
Can the OT provide a guide as to how we give? (eg, Malachi 3).

Matthew 23:
23. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the Law, judgement, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Jesus said this when the Law was still 'in effect' and not fulfilled yet, furthermore supposedly these 'blind guides' should have done both in the first place righteously.

For the record, He did not address these to His disciple but rather in rebuke and correction to the scribes and Pharisees.

Therefore beware and be alert to 'yeast of the Phariseees' in the church itself, coming from the 'clergies' themselves, supposedly you should be wiser and not enslaved being unlearned.

Hosea 4:
6. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to Me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy GOD, I will also forget thy children.

Isn't the NT guide of Lord Jesus Christ clear enough which upholds the guide of the OT?

Romans 3:
31. Do we then make void the Law through faith? GOD forbid: yea, we establish the Law.

Only the New Testament/Agreement/Covenant through the born again church can shed 'Light' to the world.

While the spiritual Law or the Old Testament/Agreement/Covenant supposedly containing 'Light', but through men only shed 'transgression'.

Per the beginning of your discussion, the law is still in effect. But it is only applicable to all sinners. It condemns everyone. Including the tithe law. It is impossible to keep them all.
That’s the thing most people don’t understand. Only the Saints that are born again, by obeying Acts 2:38 are free from the law. And to remain free from the law, they need to walk in the spirit after becoming born again Christians.
Modern Christians are teaching that you need to adhere to “partial law“. That is silly. James said it’s all or nothing. And they know that.
The law was my schoolmaster, as a gentile, to lead me to Christ. That’s how I knew that I was a sinner.
Everyone else is born on planet earth is in the same boat.

Thank you very much 'Truther', but i need to clarify that the Law have been 'abolished', since Jesus Christ have fulfilled and call them 'It's finished'.

Since whether Jews or Gentiles, 'For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of GOD;' (Romans 3:23)

Henceforth believing and receiving Jesus Christ, GOD shall justify the Jews by faith and justify the Gentiles through faith. (Romans 3:30)

Romans 3:
28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the Law.

On the other hand, the world which is not saved are no longer counted their sin by the Law, nor the Law is still in effect.

Nevertheless, the Law can be a tool for one to know transgression and that one's a transgressor by nature. (Galatians 3:19/Romans ch.7)

But the only sin conviction the world shall ever be accountable, is not believing in Jesus Christ.

John 16:
8. And when He(Holy Ghost) is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement:
9. Of sin, because they believe not on Me;
10. Of righteousness, because I go to My FATHER, and ye see Me no more;
11. Of judgement, because the prince of this world is judged.

Shalom in the name of Jesus Christ

2 Cor 3 says the 10 commandments are a death ministry.
It’s better to follow the law of the spirit. The spirit will guide you into the do’s and don’ts.
As far as your highlighted portion, yes, Christians teach that you don’t have to follow the ceremonial or judicial laws of the Old Testament, but only moral laws.
Nobody gives them permission to divide the Commandments into segments that they think that is easier to keep.

If all we needed was the Spirit, then the Bible is irrelevant.
The Spirit will teach the believer what the Bible means and how it applies to his life.

The NT gives the permission to distinguish between the Commandments by repeating the moral laws.

The NT gives the permission to distinguish between the Commandments by repeating the moral laws.
When James said, when you have broke one of the laws, you have broke them all. He was not just talking about moral laws. He was talking about the entire Old Testament law. We do not have permission from the New Testament to distinguish the difference.

With regards to New Testament teachings from Acts to revelation, they are spirit led laws.
