In Luke 19:11-27 we have the parable of the minas, this parable is told because they thought the kingdom of God should immediately appear. In the parable there are ten servants, we know the fate of three of them which takes place after He receives the kingdom and returns. One gets ten cities, one gets five cities, and the other it isn’t clear but based on what the other two were given, presumably that servant would’ve received a city if they were faithful and not wicked.

So out of ten servants total, it’s known that fifteen cities were given out and reasonably, at a bare minimum, there were twenty three cities total for the ten servants based on the assumption of at least one city per servant. That’s a minimum of 2.3 cities for every faith servant to have authority over, it could be much higher.

The fate of those who didn’t want Him to reign over them is that they are slain in verse 27, that leaves only the faithful and unfaithful servants that are left. We end up with more cities to have authority over than there are people. What’s going on here?

We know that in the regeneration those that followed Him will sit on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes. Could it be that in the parable of the minas the servants refer to the apostles only and not the true believers in general? If so that leaves the issue of ten servants and twelve apostles.

Or do the faithful servants have authority over cities that contain those who didn’t want Him to reign over them and they then use that authority to “bring them hither and slay them before me”?

they thought the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

It did... for those that understand what the Bible says is God's Kingdom.

Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost arrived starting with the ministry of John the Baptist according to Jesus

Luke 16:16
The law and the prophets were until John, since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it

For those talking about physically (our entire being) going in to the Lord's presence... that's a whole different discussion

Maybe the parable was ment for those who didn’t recognize the kingdom was present, and they thought it would physically appear.

Do you think there are servants that have authority over cities at this present time? Or will that happen in the future? Or perhaps it has already taken place. What do you think?

That was the problem with the Jews... that wanted the Lord to take over the world right then and there

We see in the Book of Hebrews that Jesus has not assumed full control over this world yet:

Hebrews 2:8
Thou hast put all things in subjection under His feet. for in that
He put all in subjection under Him, He left nothing that is not put
under Him. But now we see not yet all things put under Him

And, we also see that the devil is called the god of this world which
will not change until Jesus returns to start His 1000 year reign and
throws the devil and his demons in to hell.

2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who
is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Jesus speaking of the devil, says he is the prince of this world.

John 14:30
the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

And we see that the last enemy put under foot is death which has not happened as of yet.

1 Corinthians 15:26
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Ok, I see your Premill. I’m guessing that you have the servants receiving authority over the cities taking place just prior to or at the beginning of the millennium.

There are at least 2.3 cities per servant. The average size city in USA is somewhere between 10,000 and 50,000 people. Let’s be conservative and say it’s 10,000. That means at the start of the millennium there will be about 23,000 non-servants for every servant that has authority over cities.

Who are all the non-servants at the beginning of the millennium?

You're worrying needlessly about things are are under the Lord's control.

I’m not worried about it, I think if the beginning of a Premill millennium doesn’t have a large number of non-servants then there has to be another explanation of the parable of the minas that makes sense.

Yes and part of walking with the Lord is trusting Him knowing that He knows what He's doing.

The Lord will manage this when the time comes... He's quite capable to taking care of bidness.

We have far more pressing issues to deal with present day...

Well, most Premils have no one or very few people going into the millennium that would be considered a non-servant person. If we just say the Premill position is correct regardless of it making sense with other scriptures then an Amill can say the same along with a full Preterist. Any and all end time views can be correct if we say just trust the Lord, He knows what He’s doing.

No, those in right standing with the Lord will be with Jesus in His 1000 Year Reign in glorified bodies empowered with the Spirit without measure so one believer can handle massive amounts of responsibilities no problem.
You premil and amill shtick is quite hilarious... keep it coming, and thanks for the laugh :watching and waiting:

I’m not arguing that the servants won’t be able to handle the responsibilities. I’m asking where all the non-servants come from in the cities that they have authority over. Do you have an answer for who the people in the cities are?

I don't care and you shouldn't either.

That's the Lord's bidness and you should let Him handle administration duties.

When He gives you your assignment then do what you are told to do.
Until that time comes... you're just wasting time fretting about this.

It's a none issue because this is the Lord's responsibility and He'll taker care of bidness.

Well, I do care. If someone were to claim Jesus is not the Son of God and that’s the Lord’s business and I should just let Him handle it, I wouldn’t trust that person.

We need to trust the Bible and if you can’t explain something like who is in the cities in the mina parable, then I simply can’t trust your view on this matter. It’s no different than a JW telling me to just trust Jehovah that they are right.

What part of this is the Lord's business are you having problems understanding?
This is something HE takes care of, not you, not me... so you are still wasting your time.

Majoring on a minor.

Look, what you’re proposing is no different than saying it’s the Lord’s business whether free will exists or not. I don’t know where you stand on that topic but would you accept someone telling you it’s the Lord’s businesses and you’re wasting time trying to have a discussion on it?

This is the eschatology forum and we dig into these things and if you don’t have an answer you’re not going to convince me or anyone else that your position on this topic is correct or accurate.

God decided to create man in His Image... that's how and why we have free will.

But, that does not mean we don't have responsibility for our actions so you're not providing a good example.

Well then by all means feel free to fret, worry, discuss things that you have no control over that are God's responsibility that you will have no say so in one way or the other.

There's large portions of Eschatology & Prophecy that are nothing more than speculation.

What's NOT speculative is the Lord assigning each person to their position when His 1000 Reign starts.
He and He alone will decide who will be doing what and where... so relax man. He's got it covered! thumbsup.gif

Well, how about this…

In Daniel 7:13-14 the Son of man is given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. In Ephesians 1:20-21 when Christ was raised from the dead, He was set above all principalities, power, might, and dominion.

It seems pretty straightforward that Christ was given the kingdom just after the cross. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus said all power is given me in heaven and earth. This statement was made prior to His Acts 1:9 ascension. Therefore it follows that the Luke 19:11-27 parable is talking about Christ as the nobleman when He was raised from the dead, received the kingdom, and returned as seen in John 20. In John 20:17 Jesus tells Mary not to touch Him because He had not yet ascended to the Father, in John 20:27 Thomas can touch Jesus; so the ascension, acquiring of the kingdom, and the return had all happened in a short time period.

Here's where the whole counsel of God comes in....

In spiritual matters yes Jesus is all powerful and in control, we can cast out devils along with all He mentioned in the Great Commission... but concerning things here on earth, He has not assume absolute authority over managing the affairs on earth as per Hebrews 2:8

This is one of the major reasons why the Jews rejected Jesus as the Messiah because He did not go take Rome over and become ruler of the world in real time during His earthly ministry.

It's painfully obvious that the Lord is not yet ruling the world. Those claiming He is are confusing the Lord with the devil as it's the devil that is still the prince of this world currently:

2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not
, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who
is the image of God, should shine unto them.

I’m not arguing against Hebrews 2:8, I’m arguing that He received the kingdom and returned prior to His ascension in Acts 1:9. The parable of the minas doesn’t require Hebrews 2:8 to be fulfilled first with all things put under Him.
