This is complicated....
First off there are a few definitions of Grace between denominations and the personal definitions.....Of course it involves Yeshua's love for us. Favor and forgiveness because of that love....not that we deserve it. But more than a divine emotion I think it is a power that has a very specific and necessary effect on us. But this aspect of it is not explained well in the scriptures. Here is what the scriptures have to say about Grace.

So it is not what Grace is that I am asking, its how does it work and its purpose and its effect on us. There is an unanswered question in the Bible, actually several. But there is this one. God went from separating Himself from humans in the Holy Holies. He loved us but He was violently opposed to sin. Zero tolerance to sin. If someone that had sinned came close to Him, He killed them.

Some of this involves the rules of Heaven and the nature of Yahweh and I would be amiss to try to speculate on them.

We went from God separating Himself from us to making us family. The whole thing is about family. We are sons and daughters of Yahweh. But Yahweh, God the Father was not changed by the New Covenant. Right now He cannot stand sin. If He could tell we have ever sinned He could not have a relationship with us. We have to be perfect for salvation and a relationship with Him to be possible. But we are not perfect. So how could any of this be possible?
This is what the scriptures say about being perfect.....
You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48
For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. Hebrews 10:14
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

And----->For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,.....so normally we could not have a relationship with God. There seems to be quagmire here.

This was one my quests during my walk with Christ.....There is nothing in the scriptures that explains how we could be in such a condition that Yahweh can tolerate us. Yet when Yeshua passed on the cross the veil in the Temple was torn in two. It was torn by Yeshua. We were no longer separated from Yahweh....No need for a Holy of Holies.

So anyway I pondered this for a while and accumulated two opinions on it. I say opinions because it is not in the scriptures. One from a Holy Ghost preacher around a campfire at Bible Camp and the other from a female Professor at Cambridge University during lunch. And I realized that the scriptures mentioned the effect of Grace indirectly.....> For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified

So we were perfected......but we are still not perfect, so how does that work?
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, Revelation 7:9

The effect of Grace illustrated by a white cloak or robe that covers our sinfulness so that Yahweh cannot see our sinfulness. It took me a little time to wrap my head around this. Something to do with the nature of Yahweh.
selectively remembering and seeing....For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more. Scriptures about not remembering our sins......some appearing in prophecy.....

The blood of the Lamb of God....Christ....covers our sins and is projected as Grace and functions as a white cloak that covers our sins from the view of Yeshua.
So you have the definition of Grace and the effect of Grace.
Complicated? So, basically you haven't a clue. You combine both ignorance and arrogance in your posts. You have simply been indoctrinated by men...and that makes you think that others need to carry your lunch pail? How hypocritical.

It's easy...grace is the "power of God us-ward who believe" according to Paul.

You say the Holy Spirit leads us into truths that are not plainly stated in Scripture, then use that claim to justify a doctrine Scripture never teaches. That is dangerous ground.

The Holy Spirit inspired Scripture. He does not authorize private doctrines that go beyond what He caused to be written. Jesus said, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). Paul said Scripture is able to make the man of God “perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

You insist that the Jordan crossing “must mean something.” But that is an assumption. Paul tells us why those events were recorded: “Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted” (1 Corinthians 10:6). He follows that with warnings about idolatry, fornication, tempting Christ, and murmuring. Those are the lessons Paul draws from Israel’s history. He never says that the Red Sea is one level of salvation while the Jordan is a second entrance into Christ, holiness, or the kingdom.

The same problem appears with “circumcised the second time” in Joshua 5. The context explains that those born in the wilderness had never been circumcised. The passage says nothing about Christians receiving a second spiritual circumcision. You are taking a phrase and reading a doctrine into it that the text does not provide.

There is a difference between recognizing an illustration in Scripture and building doctrine on that illustration. Doctrine comes from what God says, not from hidden meanings we think a picture may contain.

That is why saying “the Spirit showed me” proves nothing by itself. Every teaching must still be tested by the written Word. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1). The Bereans were commended because they “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).

If the Jordan crossing teaches a second entrance into Christ or the kingdom, prove it from the New Testament because it does not teach that. God “hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:13). First Corinthians 12:13 says, “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body.”

Those are clear statements of Scripture. A hidden meaning assigned to the Jordan crossing cannot be allowed to contradict them. The Holy Spirit leads us into the truth of Scripture. He does not lead us into doctrines built on the claim that an event “must mean something” when God never gives it that meaning.
I disagree with Episkopos on many things. But I do agree about holiness in principle. There are so many scriptures that point to a deeper experience in the Lord, and I have had a little taste of it. I'm not sure I agree about it being a second entrance....Epi seems to me to divide things up too much....I think of it more like the culmination of the process of entering.

Anyway, I believe it is being alluded to in these scriptures (paraphrasing):

Paul referred in one place to "you who are spiritual....."

He admonished those in 1 Cor 3 saying that he could not talk to them as "spiritual" because they were still carnal and walked as men.

Lazarus was raised to life........but still needed to have his grave clothes removed.

The Baptist said Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit AND with fire.

The OT pictures laying a sacrifice of flesh (ours) on the altar so that fire from heaven would come down and consume it.

John also said that Jesus would THOROUGHLY purge His threshing floor.

We are told in Heb 6 to go on to perfection.

In Galations 3 it says having begun in the spirit are we now going to be made perfect by the flesh?

Jesus is both the Author and FINISHER of our faith.

He is both the cornerstone (of the foundation) as well as the capstone.

He who began a good work in us will be faithful to COMPLETE it...

If you lose your life/psuche) for my sake you will find it.

Jesus saying you have had the bath and are every whit clean, but if I don't wash your feet you have no part with me.

And there is the account in the OT of a slave having served out his seven years, being set free, but refusing to leave and voluntarily made a covenant with the Master to be His bondslave. A picture of consecration to the Lord.

We need a deeper more thorough repentance and consecration than we started out with. What we started out with wasn't the wedding but only the betrothal. The vast majority of us didn't know the half of our sinfulness/iniquity in the beginning so couldn't repent of it all. But we learn of it as we follow the Lord and allow Him to enlighten us concerning the depth of our sinfulness. There are different ways to look at it I believe, but I think of it that the things we go through (chastisements, trials and tribs) help weaken the hold of the old man on us so to speak until we are ready to let him go and reckon him dead indeed....surrender him to the Lord on the altar. That is the preparation of the bride unto the marriage/consummation. There are things we have assumed were only talking about after physical death, but are entered into after the death of our old man (some call it dying to ourselves). I believe the church in our time has been setting the bar too low.

The carnal mind seeks "proof", but we are to walk by faith. The bible isn't a legal document and we are to serve in the new way of the Spirit.....comparing spiritual with spiritual:

1Co 2:12-15

Now we have received, NOT the spirit of the world (carnal mind), but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak, NOT in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

All I can say is to reiterate that the deeper things are not explicitly stated in the scriptures....they have to be mined out and revealed/illuminated to us by the Lord. Since the bible says those things happened to Israel and were written for OUR example.......then we do need to wonder and ask what does crossing a second body of water (Jordan River) signify to us, the church then? It must mean something. since it was written for our example. "He speaks to us in parables."

The problem is that you and @Episkopos continue trying to read more into the Bible than it actually says.

You write this is response to the post that details what the Bible actually teaches - over and over again - regarding progressive structure. You don’t have eyes to see.

Grace is God the Father telling God the Son to descent from heaven, to be born on Earth, show us the love of God and wanting the Son of Man to die for His fallen Creation for the forgiveness of sins and reconcile the fallen Creation to Himself in those 3 hours in total darkness on the Cross saying it is finished and then He died in total obedience to God the Father.

It's by Grace (Jesus finished work) we are saved.

Scripture is replete with analogies, shadows, types and symbols that reveal truth that is not explicitly stated. Paul and Jude were both masters at this type of insight. You have to have eyes to see. However, we do have to be careful as one can make the scriptures say whatever one wants by a misapplication of those principles.

The finished work is not grace...it is His sacrifice to win back the world from the devil and death. He defeated both through His sacrifice and resurrection. But this is a corporate work of God whereby only God deems who is saved and who is not. And to what degree. We can't read the bible and decide what destiny awaits us. God will judge His house and the world. That's why we are to fear. Most people will be shocked...either in a good way or a bad way, on the eternity that awaits them. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. Certainty is the beginning of folly. (that second statement is mine)

As believers we have much to lose as well as to gain. So we are to fear before the Lord and humble ourselves.

An infusion of God's enabling power!
AND in the case of an anointing in power, a SUBMERSION (baptism) into grace by the spirit. This anointing DRAWS out the life that is in the inner man when we are first baptized in the Spirit.

Being FILLED with the Spirit is like a river of life flowing outward from the source within us, Christ in us. Christ in the empowered inner man. Sin isn't possible in this case. It's like a flowing river. You can't introduce anything into a hose that is under pressure...the water gushes out. So no sin can enter in as long as the flow (blood of Christ) continues. And this power is by the cross of Christ that keeps the outer man sin nature out of the way...so that nothing in us is a source of sin. We are back like Adam in the garden. We follow God by faith and our will to obey Him alone. The magnetic power that keeps us stuck fast to Christ is the power of the cross...that separates us from the world in order to cleave to God.

The finished work is not grace...

Of course it is.

Matt 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.
Matt 27:51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

Joh 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

E.t.c.

God the Father sacrificing God the Son, an act of love, grace and mercy because both loved us!

And with God it is often upside down, in our world fathers will die for their children, not the other way around.

it is His sacrifice to win back the world from the devil and death. He defeated both through His sacrifice and resurrection.

Also true.

But this is a corporate work of God whereby only God deems who is saved and who is not.

Agreed.

Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Rev 13:8, 1 Peter 1:20

Meaning that before A&E were created everything was already decided by foreknowledge, that A&E would fall and Jesus would restore everything, even that before creation the book of life was already written. Amazing, isn't it...

As believers we have much to lose as well as to gain. So we are to fear before the Lord and humble ourselves.

Absolutely.

Episkopos, could you use your own words or phrasing or explanation to explain Hebrews 10:14 to me? I am thinking I remember you somewhere saying it means: “has perfected into forever” but I’m particularly wondering about those who are “BEING sanctified.” I would think they would all adore that verse but I am wondering if “being” should really be there…

The greek verb "hagiazomenous" is in the present tense denoting continuous durative action. This is why it is translated "are being sanctified" even though "being" is not in the text. It is also in the "passive" voice denoting that they are not doing this themselves.

That sentence is the whole problem. You said the deeper things are not explicitly stated in the scriptures and have to be mined out. That is not how God teaches doctrine. That is how a man makes something up and then says the Spirit showed him.

If that door is open then anybody can do it. He can take Jordan, or Lazarus, or a slave at a doorpost, say it must mean something, and then call you carnal when you ask where the bible actually says it. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar ~Proverbs 30:6. The secret things belong unto the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong unto us ~Deuteronomy 29:29. To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them ~Isaiah 8:20. You will answer to God for what you add.

I think you are mixing growth with a second entrance and the text does not do that. He hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son ~Colossians 1:13. By one Spirit are we all baptized into one body ~1 Corinthians 12:13. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature ~2 Corinthians 5:17. Paul called the Corinthians babes in Christ when they were still carnal ~1 Corinthians 3:1. They were already in Christ. That is not Jordan number two.

Jesus said he that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit ~John 13:10. The bath already happened. John said he will throughly purge his floor, wheat into the garner, chaff burned with unquenchable fire ~Matthew 3:12. That is not a hidden second blessing. Those Old Testament things were written so we would not lust after evil things as they also lusted ~1 Corinthians 10:6. Paul never said the second river is another way into Jesus.

1 Corinthians 2 does not give you cover. Not to think above that which is written ~1 Corinthians 4:6. Try the spirits ~1 John 4:1. The Bereans searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so ~Acts 17:11. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God ~Romans 10:17. Holiness matters, without which no man shall see the Lord ~Hebrews 12:14, but holiness is not a license to preach what God did not say.

There is no second one waiting behind your fake progressive chart.

If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed ~Galatians 1:9. O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth ~Galatians 3:1. Paul did not negotiate with men who added a stage to Christ. He named it what it is.

I can see it. I can see you and @Episkopos reading more into the text than God put there, then selling the extra as depth. They make much of you, but for no good purpose. They want to shut you out, that you may make much of them. ~ Galatians 4:17 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. ~ 2 Corinthians 11:13.

They that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly ~Romans 16:18.

Learn not to think above that which is written ~1 Corinthians 4:6. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar ~Proverbs 30:6. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God ~1 John 4:1. The man who will not be tested by the written Word is not being spiritual. Says you!

I cannot imagine a more obvious paraphrase of progressive structure than when our Lord said in Luke 12:47-49 (Voice)
47 Now if a servant who is given clear instructions by his master doesn’t follow those instructions but instead is complacent and apathetic, then he will be punished severely. 48 But if a servant doesn’t know what his master expects and behaves badly, then he will receive a lighter punishment. If you are given much, much will be required of you. If much is entrusted to you, much will be expected of you.

And also Luke 16:10
10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

To whom much is given much is expected implies progressive structure. We are tested a little and if we pass, the test becomes more significant. Our Lord himself was tested for 40 days, culminating in being tempted by directly Satan, presumably the most difficult part of the 40-day challenge. You deny this? If so, then what is the limits of applying these verses?

This is excellent! I have experienced this to a smaller degree but am watching and praying for a full infusion. It cost all but the return is well worth it. The refreshing coolness of God's presence is all we need.

(have to put a scriptural reference for those with a mechanical understanding)

Jn 7:37-38
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water
