The first 11 chapters of Genesis, literal or figurative?
That gets to the point.

There isn't a single answer, and the answers aren't confined to those two options. The workS here come from periods before Israel existed. The editor (Moses?) is of Israel, though.

Genesis 1:1 - 2:4: Mythological, of Canaanite origin
Genesis 2:5 - 4:26: Euhemeric, of Edomite origin
Genesis 5: Corrupted in transmission, but the original was likely literal. Of Edomite origin.
Genesis 6 - 9: Parts can be proved to be literal. Other parts are uncertain. Of Uraritic origin, but transmitted through the Canaanites to Israel.

My hope is in the "author", not in the book.
The book is man-made.
Why would God give us a book that is not inspired?
In my view, the Bible was our doing.
But that doesn't mean it was inspired in places.

These things can be very serious.
Many of those who deconstruct became atheist.

I recalled this comment after reading the following in my X / Twitter “For you” feed this afternoon -

“Deconstruction is often presented as an intellectual struggle.

Yet biblical sexual ethics appear again and again at the point of departure.

Sooner or later, the real question surfaces:

Will Christ rule my desires, or will my desires rule me?”

Simple question, easy answer.

A.) Until Jesus The Christ = is joined unto the believer regarding their new birth in the Spirit, the person (unforgiven sinner) will remain in spiritual darkness while trapped within total bondage to their unquenchable flesh. : (chained to carnal desires).

This is why Jesus told us that : "I have come to set the CAPTIVE Free". And This is why Paul teaches all the born again = that WE are "made free from sin" "in Christ".....as a Eternal "New (Spiritual) Creation", having received "imputed righteousness".
