Rational people would be prepared to kill a person gunning down children in a school whether the shooter was a Christian or not.
Christians shouldn’t be gunning down children for any reason - unless they live in a country that is at war with the United States?
It’s never going to be necessary for me to kill followers of Jesus.
The proposition: Jesus wants his followers to kill one another, when necessary.
Then you better hope that Jesus is pleased with and approves of those who kill his brothers and sisters.
It sounds as if you think you understand Jesus' teaching better than His closest followers, such as Peter & Paul.

I understand it the same way that they did. They didn’t teach the followers of Jesus to kill their enemies, nor did they teach the followers of Jesus to kill one another.
Peter & Paul taught that the government had a responsibility to use force when necessary.
Never did Jesus condemn anyone in the military ... in fact He commended their faith ... at least twice.
Jesus did not teach, nor did He practice, extreme pacifism ( John 2:15, John 18:6, Luke 22:36)
The majority is your guide. Go with them.
The only thing that matters is whether or not Jesus - about whom you have said that his teaching is divorced from reality - agrees with you.
Well if you believe Jesus is God, He killed Ananias & Sapphira, and Herod Agrippa.
I believe Jesus is the Son of God. He didn’t kill anyone during his earthly ministry. He hasn’t killed anyone, yet. He will when he returns.
Who did the apostles kill? Who did they teach the followers of Jesus to kill? When did they kill them?
Jesus as the Lamb of God did not kill anyone ... Jesus in the Church age killed at least 3 we are told of.
You and I are not apostles.
I just believe what the apostles taught the Church about the use of necessary force to curb social evil.
I teach and preach that the followers of Jesus are to sound like, to act like, to be like the Lamb of God.
When people see the followers of the Lamb of God they should see the Lamb of God in us.

The apostles didn’t kill anyone, nor did they teach the followers of Jesus, the church, to kill anyone. The church understood this for the first three centuries of its existence. We know this from the writings of the Ante Nicene church fathers.
That’s right. Should we imitate the apostles in what we say and do? Do any of the apostles ask / instruct us to?

I don't try to imitate the apostles ... I believe what the apostles taught.
