I know this is a controversial matter. I know that many here are now going to call it pathetic, but honestly after I read the New Testament - and am simply objective - it is like the New Testament wants to tell me that Jesus returned around 70 AD. That the Beast was Rome and Babylon was Jerusalem. But somehow this is also confusing.

Are you hoping someone will talk you into it? Or are you hoping someone will talk you out of it entirely?

If by Rome you are meaning Nero, and that the beast can be named, this should logically mean the 2nd beast can be named as well. So what was the name of the false prophet that worked hand in hand with Nero, assuming he is the beast. Can't have a first beast without there also being a 2nd beast. Unless John lied to us in Revelation 13.

Think of it like Batman and Robin. No one only knows of Batman but never heard of Robin. Use the same logic. If they know the beast, they also know who his partner in crime is. Who was it that was connected to Nero like Robin is connected to Batman, that is meaning the false prophet?

Which parts of the NT, after a simple honest reading, seem to point to Christ returning in the first century?

Jesus came in Judgement on apostate Israel in 70AD.

Rev 1:1The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

7“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”[b]
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him

I believe that the beast is an demonic being influencing Rome and its leaders in the first century

Rev 13:They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.

I also believe that Babylon the great city was Jerusalem

Rev 11:8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified

Rev 17
6 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled. 18 The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

The woman is "the great city" and the beast Rome destroyed her for Gods purpose

Who was the 2nd beast then, the false prophet? Preterists seem to be able to you all about the first beast, then basically *crickets* in regard to the 2nd beast. Why is that?

He didn't ask about the 2nd beast did he? That's why I didn't mention it.

Why are you so aggressive in your comment and assume I never post about the second beast or state who I think what the false prophet is?

Many times I have, and I have even started threads on the false prophet.

I though you said a few months ago that were trying to be more respectful and friendlier in you post to people.

You also made false accusations and avoided what I did post and only commented on what I didn't post.

Much of what is written, like the beast and Babylon accounts, etc. are images that represent all that is true. However, they can also distract from certain very simple truths simply because they leave one to imagine their meaning leading to many possibilities of what one could believe. We do better to keep things simple, like this:
  • Jesus left and went to the Father.
  • The Father is spirit.
  • Before leaving Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit.
  • The Father is Holy and spirit. and Jesus is One with Him.
  • God said He would pour out His spirit upon all flesh.
  • Jesus said in the book of Revelation, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Which could only be done in the spirit.
  • The day of Pentecost came, which Peter confirmed was God pouring out His spirit upon all flesh--the coming of the Holy Spirit; and people began to be born again of the spirit of God, which is "Christ in you" personally, and Jesus is God...which can only be defined as Him returning.
  • Paul confirmed how that day would come, with a "but" on when it would come, saying, "but each one [person] in his own order."
  • And so it began.

I know this is a controversial matter.

Controversial? Ha... no, it "IS" a false doctrine! You are becoming like honey that attracts flies here—the false teachers and laymen who promote Preterism and their first-century fulfillment theories coming down on you. By opening the door to these doctrines, you risk giving false teachers a platform to spread teachings that lead people away from the truth of Scripture.

Paul warned that grievous wolves would enter among God's people and that men would arise, speaking perverse things to draw disciples after themselves (Acts 20:29–30). We are commanded to test every teaching against Scripture (Acts 17:11) and to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3).

The issue is not merely whether Preterism is controversial; the issue is whether its teachings stand up to the whole counsel of God. We must not allow first-century fulfillment theories nonsenses to distort the biblical teaching concerning, the stones of temple falling, the army, the beast, Christ's glorious return, the resurrection of the dead, and the final judgment.

Do not become bait for 70AD false teachers. Be a Berean: examine the Scriptures carefully yourself, expose error, and stand firmly for the truth.

The second coming has not happened yet. Rome, Nero etc etc were simply types and shadows of the true fulfillments to come just like there have been many antichrists in the past but we are still waiting for that last one.

Matthew 16:27-28
For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay each one according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

In this case: Since the Beast was the Roman Empire, that means the false prophet must have been Roman. The fatal wound of the Beast (Roman Empire) must have been the 68-69 AD crisis. So I GUESS the false prophet was either Vespasian or Titus. Then in 70 AD the Beast destroyed Babylon (Jerusalem).

Seek Truth,
Yeshua never left, you are reading the wrong words, can be confusing. Focus on the words in red His words some examples:
John 14:18 (KJV) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
John 14:23 (KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Matthew 28:20 (KJV) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The false prophet I believe to be a demonic being influencing apostate Isreal who conspired with the beat (Rome) to kill Jesus.

The Pharisees were supposed to direct the Jewish people to their Messiah, but instead they had the people reject and kill Him and had the people state that they have no king but Cesar. That is the perfect example of a false prophet.

Its also interesting that the false prophet the second beast is also described as a clean animal, all of the other beasts are described as unclean animals.

Revelation 13
11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon

How did Jesus describe false prophets

Mathew 7
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

The prophecy states clearly that all eyes will see Him when He returns. Certainly, this did not happen in AD 70, and such an event would not have gone unnoticed. Jesus also told us what would happen when He returns, and none of these things has happened yet. Do not be deceived or confused by the claim that Christ has already returned. Jesus warned us not to believe those who say He has come in secret (Matthew 24:23–27). His return will be visible to all (Revelation 1:7), He will come with the clouds of Heaven (Matthew 24:30), the angels will gather His elect (Matthew 24:31), and the dead in Christ will be raised (John 5:28–29). Jesus also said that all the tribes of the earth will mourn when they see Him coming in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory (Matthew 24:30). Furthermore, He said that after the tribulation, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken (Matthew 24:29). Where did any of this happen in AD 70? The destruction of Jerusalem and the return of Jesus Christ are not the same event. We must let Jesus' own words guide us and not force His prophecies into a past event that does not fulfill what He said would happen.

Blessings

So do you think that the false prophet may be apostate Israel?

The second coming has not happened yet.
Flavius Josephus:
"Besides these, a few days after that feast, on the one and twentieth day of the month Artemisius, [Jyar,] a certain prodigious and incredible phenomenon appeared: I suppose the account of it would seem to be a fable; were it not related by those that saw it; and were not the events that followed it of so considerable a nature as to deserve such signals. For, before sun setting, chariots and troops of soldiers in their armour were seen running about among the clouds, and surrounding of cities."
