Hi everyone…
Look here at these great promises from God in Revelation 3:10-12:
Revelation 3:10-12 (KJV) 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, [which is] new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and [I will write upon him] my new name.
In verse 10, Jesus tells us that “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” At first I thought I was understanding the verse pretty good—until I patiently looked at it again and noticed it says they kept the word of His patience. God is so good to us.
So what is the “hour of temptation” from which the church of Philadelphia is kept? It is the “hour” when Satan the “Tempter“ appears as THE Antichrist and claims to be Jesus Christ. Does this mean the Church will be carried up into the sky? No, of course not. It means that those who have God’s seal in their foreheads (brain) and know the Truth have remained faithful to His Word—in other words, they understand the verses by diligent study and prayer and will not be deceived by Satan. Christians will remain here on earth, standing firm for Jesus’ sake, equipped with the full armor of the gospel, ready to teach and spread the Word of God—that’s the two-edged Sword!
In verse 11, it says, “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.”
Hey, we also have a crown awaiting us! …cool! I want one of those! ….and we are to hold firmly to what we have so no one can take it from us, especially that ol’ devil Satan. This verse reminds me of how convincing he will be.
Verse 12: Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
The “pillars” are the steadfast and faithful Christians—OVERCOMERS! I want to be one of them, too. Now check out carefully what the verse says next and try to appreciate the wondrousness of it! The overcomers will receive a new name. I believe this passage points to the coming marriage: the bride takes a new name—the name of her husband! Wow!
All these promises are to the faithful Christians who endure to the very end, who will never bend a knee to the Antichrist when he appears. That’s why Christians won’t flinch in fear when the going gets a little tough. Jesus won’t let us down no matter what!
