Exactly! But now you are moving beyond “the meek will inherit the earth” and into the territory of walking in the Spirit in His holiness rather than just treating your neighbor as well as you treat yourself. You don’t do away with the first to establish the last - He WILL be merciful with the merciful, if you plant in treating your neighbor in the way God says is right, you WILL reap mercy from Him.

The transcendent standard is the one that is impossible with men. In comparison to that transcedent standard, THAT is the one in which your treating your neighbor as God sees is right is like filthy rags.
I think it is rather the source of the righteousness that determines whether it is filthy rags or not. Scripture says it is our own righteousness that is filthy rags. Like the Jews went about seeking to establish their own righteousness, whereas we are to submit to the righteousness of God. We are dying out even to our own "good" not just our "evil". Our own righteousness and "good" falls short of the glory of God....it is tainted and imperfect. The only sacrifice that is acceptable to a holy God is that which is heavenly (perfect, unblemished)......the righteousness which is of faith.......man's own righteousness is strange fire.

Your own self-interest blinds you to the true agenda...that of wanting an ongoing guaranteed forgiveness, basically an immunity from prosecution for sin. What the unlearned don't realize is that there is more than one kind of sin. And iniquity (based on naming and claiming) is the worst sin of all....the like of which religious pretenders indulge in gleefully. If you don't realize that those who teach such things are condemned by the Lord, I can't help you.

I am pretty sure I sin less than 5 years ago.

How about you ?

Any progress to mention ?

religious hubris can make you think you are getting better whereas you are just getting more proud. So you are just getting more and more entrenched in your pride. It's the pride of your supposed better performance that snares you.

That's not true. No one knows why a righteous man does righteous things. And for you to think you know means you are seeking to establish your own righteousness.
Scripture says it is our own righteousness that is filthy rags.

This is a very minority position concerning righteousness...based on seeing righteousness in a religious way whereby we may justify ourselves. In the sight of God NO man can justify himself....for any reason.
Like the Jews went about seeking to establish their own righteousness, whereas we are to submit to the righteousness of God.

Evangelicalism does the very same thing based on beliefs. People keep dodging the truth while they seek to satisfy a carnal mind.

Submitting oneself to the righteousness of God is not the same as claiming to be God's righteousness for Him.
We are dying out even to our own "good" not just our "evil". Our own righteousness and "good" falls short of the glory of God....it is tainted and imperfect.

That's right. God's way in Christ is a perfect way in holiness.
The only sacrifice that is acceptable to a holy God is that which is heavenly (perfect, unblemished)......the righteousness which is of faith.......man's own righteousness is strange fire.
This is muddled thinking. Only God can determine what is of faith...only He can make us enter into the holy place to offer up a holy sacrifice. Again modern evangelicalism determines for itself what is of faith (actually just beliefs) in order to CLAIM to NOT be offering strange fire.

How do you know this about him?
At least they had the courtesy to ask you if you're progressing.

That was the expected answer, you are forgiven.

How about answering the question I left for you.

Your hypocrisy is astounding.
Why do you get to be judgmental while you accuse your opponents of being judgmental?

And why does your all-inclusive religion exclude Protestants but embraces all other 'errant' Christian religions? Is Protestantism the only Christian religion that isn't allowed to be, in your view, wrong?

Doing just one thing wrong erases any hope of being counted as righteous by the things you do right.
I’ve suggested a chapter to you about this at least three times. Here is a very relevant verse:
All his offenses which he has committed will not be remembered against him; because of his righteousness which he has practiced, he will live.

So that negates everything God established and commanded in the setting up of the temple for sacrifice for sin? Really?

Since you don't do that perfectly you cannot be seen as righteous by God on the basis of how well you treat others.

Without the Priesthood and Sacrifice of Jesus there is always the stain of when you didn't treat others well that keeps you from being seen as righteous by God. The guilt of your unrighteousness has to be taken away through the ministry of the High Priest and his Sacrifice for you to be seen as righteous by God.
You make no distinction between treating your neighbor right and holiness. You mash them up together and so you wind up with neither and only wind up with your own assertions.
a relevant verse says (going on memory here) they will teach them to distinguish between what is holy and what is common.
You have mashed potatoes with a side of assertions.

I don't judge myself on what God might see in me. You would have to ask God. There is no part in me that is trying to rise above reality or be superior to anyone else. I really don't care so much. I see myself as a member of a much larger whole.
How I do judge my performance is toward the positive. How much do I feel His presence? How attracted am I to His word? How many times do I stop and thank and praise Him? How lost in Hi ways DO I allow myself to be? How are others receiving me? (I only care what the humble think)

You apparently don't know what that means.

Something being 'holy' means it is something, or someone, who has been made clean and set apart for a divine/holy purpose. That's what happens to a person when they believe in the sacrifice of Christ for the forgiveness of sin and the turning away of God's wrath. They are made clean and are set apart as holy vessels to be used to fulfill a holy purpose. That holy purpose is to do the righteous things they were set apart to do. When we misuse our holy vessels, our bodies, and don't properly distinguish between what is holy and what is not holy (common) we profane that which is holy.

Stop dividing holiness from righteous living. Holy people are set apart to live righteous lives.

Righteous behavior IS what it means to live holy!
You are fully not understanding either righteousness or holiness. I hope you never have to judge humans...

The bible says that Zachariah and Elizabeth were both righteous before God.

Luke 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

So was their righteousness a HUMAN righteousness, or a DIVINE righteousness?

You do know that God did not desire sacrifice but rather right living toward others? He spoke many times about this.
I desire mercy, not sacrifice, a peaceful harvest of right living, you do not delight in sacrifice or I would bring it, burnt offering and sin offering you did not desire, I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls, I did not speak to your fathers about sacrifice on the day I freed them from their bondage, to hearken is better than to sacrifice. There are so many verses that show this.
Go and learn what it means to say one is trampling the blood of Jesus underfoot because truly, you do it.

None of this will get you into the kingdom of God.

It's amazing that you can't see you are guilty of the very same thing you say Protestant Evangelicals are guilty of, lol. You're no different than the people you judge and criticize!

Protestantism is good for a very small minority...but a lot worse for most. Declaring oneself righteous based on beliefs would never occur to a Catholic, for example. So then for the most part Protestantism is a Pharisee making machine. People read themselves into the bible the way children read a heroic story and pretend they are the hero. What is OK for a 3 year old is not OK for adults. Pretend heroes crucified Christ.

So I se most modern evangelicals as pretenders.

The Levitical sacrifices were only types and shadows of the reality. Laying the shadow aside does not mean you also lay the reality they represent aside. You are treating the blood of Christ with contempt. You profane the blood of Christ when you treat it as common and nothing special. That is the ONE sin that God cannot forgive. You can't have the benefit of a sacrifice that you do not believe can forgive you.

Go and learn what it means to say one is trampling the blood of Jesus underfoot because truly, you do it.
You do not know what that means. If you did you'd realize that by rejecting the blood of Christ for the forgiveness of sin and for the turning away of the wrath of God you are trampling on it, profaning it, treating that which is holy as common. It's a terrible thing to fall into the hands of an angry God! Heed the warning. Turn around while you still can. Assuming you still can.

Hebrews 10:29
29How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
