it seems now as in the earliest days "no one can see God and hear His voice and live"- they had the prophets, and the Apostles and early disciples had Christ and we now have the Church - twinc

Hmmm.... Well, i don't recall reading about we can't hear his voice and live. Did I miss that in the Bible?

You have opened a can of worms with that statement! But I actually agree that the Church (especially its leader) is important in hearing and even seeing God. That leadership must be true, however. And beware that it isn't leadership meant to bundle tares!

Again, you are opening a can of worms... And I guess I just joined you and poured hot sauce on them worms!

I don't truly think Voices and Visions are a thing in USA, Canada, upcoming countries, basically. as we have the Bible and the Church. However, I think that in countries where these things aren't prominent they still experience such things. There are multiple languages that do not have a translated Bible so I do believe that God can use these things for them.

Well twinc, the church ( by which you mean your Catholic church I presume) 'To me' is not "The Voice of God"!!
I the wilderness the People of Israel said to Moses.."we don't want to come close to the mountain...you go up." They didn't want to come close to God..but to stand a way off, while Moses ascended the mount..

Heb 1.1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son." And, as we have a personal, living, relationship with God though Jesus Christ His Son...we need no middle man to speak to God, or hear from God.
Jesus said:- " If you have seen Me you have seen the Father." And, no one dropped dead!

By the way twinc...you start threads, but you don't finish them...you didn't finish or answer your thread :-
Dreams and dreaming !?

if in a hurry with desire to jump the gun see my post 'The Painter' - here perhaps you may care to comment on Jn 5:37 & 6:46 and Exod 33:20 & Jn 1:18 & 1Tim 6:16 - we do not like the Apostles have a personal, living, relationship with God - twinc

holier than us lot I guess - but probably only a more developed imagination - must accept what He says in the Bible as stated or do you think the Bible must be all wrong and not you - twinc

"Where there is no vision, the people perish... Prov 29:18

Now, my old friend, we who see for the most part like me see through a glass darkly, but our vision should continue improve until we see face to face as per I Corinthians 13:12. That is the vision. There are spiritually blind people, but there is no good reason for them to remain so. God has made a Way for us obtain a vision and then to improve that vision as we walk with Him.

had Christ and we now have the Church -
Actually so far off course you missed your destination.

Joh_15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Joh_14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Joh_14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

so we have, Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit, and because of what Jesus has done, we that is us who believe, can now see God, yet so many would rather religion.

Mar_7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

a vivid imagination is not the same as a vivid vision - many are gifted with various degrees of imagination and even claim to hear heavenly voices in their head that are merely talking to themselves either aloud and openly or silently - twinc

pretty much the conclusion one must reach about the op, at least absent your rebuttal of the points raised imo.
No one can hear God's voice and live? what?
We do not have access to the same relationship that the Apostles had with God?
They had Christ, but we have the church?

Jesus already.

Of course you are correct twinc, but only God is qualified to make the final judgment on another person with regard to imaginations and/or visions.

God has never changed and therefore would it not follow that He has never stopped speaking to those who are in need and ask of Him?

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matt 5:6

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Matt 7:7-8

as per usual - it happens again and again - off at a tangent and all mixed up as here what is not under contention or contest that God speaks but how He speaks - this we are clearly told in the bible but there is a refusal to accept and/or obey viz 'did God really say' etc - as regards Matt 5 and 7 this was not spoken to us - we have already been found as Christianity and Christ have been found for us - Jews and other good folk will seek and be born again and find etc - twinc

And, of course, according your rule of thumb, then much of the Bible is not supposed to be read. So why do we bother since you've already determined that it is not directed to our eyes, ears and hearts?

One of these days, twinc, you are going to surprise me by writing something that is really helpful to me.

Would it be wrong for me to simply say, "Give God the glory!"

For one having more than my 73 years, while you may have some wisdom for yourself, you do not seemed to have not gained enough wisdom to be able share it in an understandable way with most others. Is there a reason for that that you would be willing to share?

okay lets do exactly as you ask/say "Give God the glory" - by doing as HE says and has suggested and not as you or I suggest seeb Matt 16:19 & 18:18 - this is definitely not addressed to you or me - twinc

Unfortunately, twinc, knowing your position from so many encounters previously, is that I know that according to your understanding of Matt 16:19 and Matt 18:18 the words were not addressed to me. Until we can get past that, we can hardly proceed. It will take God to do it and He will only do what we will allow Him to do. You have even taken position opposed the current Roman Catholic position for you effectively renounce most or all of the changes of Vatican II. This effectively makes you part of a protestant denomination holding a place along with the 40,000+ others that apparently exist today. Of course, yours is better than them as well as better than the one which does support all Vatican II changes.

So, even though you may even doubt my place, I will nonetheless say:

Give God the glory!

- why don't you - seems you think Matt 16:19 & 18:18 were addressed to you - all this rubbish is according to you - btw my thinking on this, that or the other does not make the Church wrong nor does your thinking do so - twinc
