Tell me something. With Ignatius writing at the beginning of the 2nd century to a Church far off (Smyrnaea) - how long do you think it took back then for a title to spread and become established?? There was no internet, no email, no snail mail, no newspapers, no 6:00 news - NOTHING but word of mouth.

This shows that the title used by Ignatius used, "The Catholic Church", was LONG established in the 1st century.
Was the Church that Christ built called "The Catholic Church" on Pentecost? Probably not. However, when the Apostles were alive, this became not just the description - but the TITLE of the Church - the SAME Catholic Church that exists today.

You can complain all you want but the paper trail and the history and the teachings are on OUR side.
All YOU can do is whine about it . . .

You're not listening. I have no problem with the Church being called Catholic. As I said, I am part of the Catholic Church.

Side note: Rome roads were well established in the second century and Paul made good use of them.

Actually - you're not.
You're not even a member of universal Protestantism.

Now THERE'S an oxymoron . . .

And now, you're lying again.

I have said over and over and over again that Protestants are non-Catholic CHRISTIANS.
Why do you find it necessary to lie instead of debating honestly??

In the document Dominus Iesus, St. John Paul II explained that Protestant "churches" were NOT churches, in the fullest definition of the word, but "ecclesial communities". He stressed that they were indeed Christians.

Not sure why you feel the need to lie so often . . .

So why are you not focused on what we have in common with the rest of the body of Christ rather than pushing tribalism?

I'll answer that when YOU answer MY question about why you lie so much.

Also, BoL, why not provide a list of all of your mistakes on this thread ( or, lies as you like to call them)? It might improve your credibility....

Well, yes I am. I am a member of the Catholic Church. And I am a Protestant.

The oxymoron is "Roman Catholic". No such critter exists.

Vatican II was a necessary refocusing of the RCC and the council wisely included many Protestant theologians in the process. We are not enemies; we need to continue learning from each other.

THANK YOU...I have said that before...but no one seems to "get it". ( or wants to)

When will some people SEE that God sees ALL of His people as ONE...He does not see us all fragmented...our forefathers have done that for us all...
We ALL have one common Enemy..and it is NOT each other!!

I totally believe that Satan and his hoards sit rubbing their hands in glee.
They quake, tremble and fear , that we will finally all become ONE in Christ..and under His headship as one Body. So arguments and divisions are the bread and candy for the devils. They love and thrive on it.

Your post so blessed me... thank you again. :)

Dualism demands enemies. If you do not adhere, actively promote the laws and culture of the tribe, or provide the right answers to other tribal members who constantly question loyalty; you are labeled on outsider....and an enemy.

Tribalism is dualism in veiled disguise. Christianity declared dualism a heresy from its conception and has been resisting it ever since. Unfortunately, the teaching is insidious, especially among fundamentalists. Like all narcissist tendencies, without an enemy to point to, dualists fear annialation.

The very reason BoL is demanding my loyalty to his Tribe is due to his fear of the annihilation of his belief in his Tribe. 'Only a true RCC member is loyal to the Tribe and to all true members!' Therefore, everyone out of step, is lying and must be declared an enemy. Yes, I see you, BoL.

Rome roads were the equivalent of the Internet in the second century
NOTHING was even remotely equivalent to the internet in the 1st century.
Everything still had to be spread by letter and word of mouth.

Repeating that mantra doesn't make it so.

As St. John Paull II said in Dominus Iesus - as a Protestant, you are related to the Catholic Church, albeit, by divorce.
However, your ecclesial communities are not "churches" in the full sense of the word.

Can you define dualism in the context you are speaking about for me? Thanks

This response is called 'leveling'. I do not belong to the Tribe, therefore even the most bland statement like my comparison of Roman roads and the Internet must be confronted and dismissed immediately. Any agreement with an enemy is considered a loss and flirts with annilation - same reason Trump doubles down on everything His says rather than working towards agreement

I am sharing my opinion on an opinion board. Everyone who posts here is sharing their opinion
Uhhhh, no.
Proliferating a lie makes you responsible for that lie.

Opinions are one thing - LIES are quite another.

And there you go lying again.

I don't demand anything from you but the truth - which seems to be an impossibility for you.
I couldn't care less which sect you have allegiance to.

Anyway, how does my insistence that you tell the truth make me a "dualist"??

I am tempted, but far too lazy... to go back and check through all your posts and count just how many times you use the word "lie".
It seems a great favourite of yours! :)
