that is a pretty good thread OP imo, you might go ahead and stick in there "Mark thinks you should contemplate 'Who told you that you were naked? before you reply."
Never ask a question to which you don't know the answer!
But I'll do the other O.P.

Could use one just about now.
Crazy about how we could argue that God demands obedience.
I'll never get over it...
hmm. Is "Here, have all of that that you want, but understand what the consequences are" "demanding obedience?"
wow, did you see how closed quotes right next to each other just worked without a comma? wait, does a comma go there? :)
and you think that other argument so crazy? lol

well, you would just have to have experienced Pentecostal Standards to really get what i mean, even though it also exists in the RCC, just in a slightly different form, it really isn't called "standards" i don't think.

Standards in this context might be thought of as Preferences trying to be commands, or something like that. In the RCC this is handled more culturally, you are natch going to dress and wear your hair length pretty much within the guidelines set by your peers, right, or you are going to go outside those lines and be considered...outside the lines. Right? But Standards is different, there is no outside the lines tolerated, like if you trim your hair in some sects you are in trouble, like that. Or if you are male and don't trim your hair. It gets much more...involved, than that, too

Well there is supposed to be but according to christianty and these forums we seem to either have many or one with a personality disorder
Thanks to the reformation...
Which, at the time, was necessary.

Oh. You mean MAN'S standards.
Like a woman I used to know who went to a Church that didn't allow women to wear make-up or pants.

That's legalism. Although it could be found in the scriptures.
Paul said a man is not to dress like a woman, V V, and woman shouldn't bring attention to themselves, jewelry, and all that.

Jesus wants an internal change, not an external change.
Although I agree that we shouldn't go around looking like Cyrus.

which has virtually disappeared in the RCC in the last umpty ump, right? They are way ahead in reconciliation to the people imo; there is practically no "outside the lines" in the RCC, at least in the Dioceses i know. Prolly provincially or something, dunno

You keep saying I'm Catholic.
I don't mind, it's just that it's not true!

You're pretty much right but not in everything and, yes, it does depend on the parish or Bishop.

You can't go to the altar to receive communion in clothing that is not decent.
You can't receive communion under certain circumstances.
Can't think of anything else right now.
