Haha! Well John..you did well...not sure they would convince anyone, especially @bbyrd009 :D

I could not thing of any instance at all in the OT. Not any that would convince a sceptic... but yes..this one is my contribution..... Isaiah 28:11
"For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people.
To whom He said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear."

ok, prolly better not to do a repeat of the Job thing, suffice it to say that Amadeus is often called out for not giving a clear answer; he is accused of "stammering lips," so to speak, even though this OT example seems to be referring, is referring to it in a different context.

the nature of speaking in tongues--and why we cannot find it directly in the OT--is also the reason why we have so many different concepts of it, and we haven't even considered "Tower of Babbel" here yet, where it all started; and where...the nature of SiT clarifies, imo. We all speak a different language, see. Paul's "gurgling and cooing like a baby" is also relevant here, although i do not mean that to be a condemnation, at least per se, like i would have yesterday; like Paul seems to have. Paul is not condemning children @ "When i was a child, i spoke like a child" iow, he is...ha well, enough for now

Yes, I'm called out, but sometimes what people ask for is very clear to me and there is no question for me. A clear answer may be a black and white answer but sometimes black and white does not work hypothetically. Jesus knew when to give no answer, because someone was asking amiss. I wish I always was as certain as He was.

What is the real trouble? One is that there are too many people who effectively play games with regard to speaking with tongues. Another is that some people have decided that tongues are never part of God's plan today and only the devil [forgive this reference] uses people's gullibility to accomplish purposes. This brings us back to not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

You are really just almost if not exactly right on the money here my friend. God does tell the His-Story in scripture, but scripture can be and is used to tell other stories besides the one from the right hand of God. When dealing with this or any subject really we should always be aware that there is also that left hand.
Church goers [I many of those who attend services faithfully] will seldom if ever admit that they might be working in or from His left hand.

A new born may work innocently in the wrong way, but eventually he needs to mature. This holds with carnal or spiritual.

imo this last reflection is projecting something onto Jesus that likely is not true in the way that the statement suggests, imo. Jesus prayed for stuff that was not in God's will too, right, once anyway, sort of. right?

yes, me dissing your tongues, you suspecting mine, been doing that my whole life, all the way up to last night even, when in truth all of these perspectives--all the way from one babbelling falsely through their woman in congregation, through to baby gurgling, and...onward from there, more rungs on that ladder iow, as Paul's "when i was a child i spoke like one..." suggests.

prolly sounds like nonsense to some ppl, i guess though, huh? :)
