Why did God need to give us free will, or did He need to? Do we really have it?

Exactly. But they aren't asleep. They just aren't consciously aware of their actions and what they're told to do in that state. They aren't using their free will but doing what they're told to do regardless whether they want to or not. Their free will was taken from them or you could say their free will was overcome by various devious methods.

I'm not referring to anything it says in the "Book" except for as it relates to wickedness and wicked acts that people do to each other. And what I'm referring to is very wicked and what some wicked, evil people do to the minds of others. ...Ok I'll be more clear about it. I'm referring to mind control. People under total mind control do not have free will. They do exactly what they're told to do regardless whether they want to or not.

Very few people willingly volunteer for mind control. In most cases, they don't walk in by their own choice or walk out by their own choice. They are forced. And most of the time they can't even remember anything afterwards....
