Everything has to be read in context.
Mathew 7:15-23
We will know false prophets by their fruit. Grape does not grow in thorn bushes.
Good trees produce good fruit
Bad trees produce bad fruit and VV
Jesus goes on to say that every tree that DOES NOT bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mathew 7:19
Not everyone who cries Lord, Lord will enter into the Kingdom, but those who DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER. Sounds here like simple faith is not enough. We also must do the will of the Father.
Some believe God is happy with them, when in reality He is not, and on the last day Jesus will tell them "Depart from Me, you who PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS."
Right, and those who do not have the Holy Spirit and who are not born again produce bad fruit. They do not have the root of salvation which is Jesus Christ himself.
Jesus says to enter by the narrow gate.
Mathew 7:13
Jesus says to beware of false prophets.
Mathew 7:15
Right, and guess who Jesus was speaking to below. Jesus Christ himself (death, burial, resurrection) is the gate to salvation, not works.
John 10:1
"Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
John 10:7-10
Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.
9I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Where does it say that Jesus is speaking about the saved and unsaved?
Jesus is talking about those that practice lawlessness.
There is no mention here of saved or unsaved...
These are some examples of sheep who hear and wolves who distort the truth, believers vs non believers.....
John 8:42-47 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
John 10:25-30 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than allc ; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30I and the Father are one.”
Act 20:28-30 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God,[fn] which he bought with his own blood. 29I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
unfortunately I hear some faith only persons proclaim that even if they live a life of sin, they are still saved.
This idea comes from the faith only movement which is unbiblical, neither Jesus nor any of the N.T. writers taught this concept.
Sin is not the issue in this world, it is lack of belief in the death, burial, resurrection. Believers will battle sin until they die because of the fallen world we live in. What do you think sanctification and discipline is for, John 8:7, 1 John 1:8, Heb 12. Do you enjoy throwing stones GG?
You just agreed that Jesus did not abolish the law. The law is good and holy.
Romans 7:12
Then how do you reason that we don't depend on it to keep saved?
If the law is not abolished,
and God demands obedience,
Doesn't this mean that following the law keeps us saved?
No, following the law helps you live a good life while the blood of Christ keeps you saved.
John said that not following the commandments makes us a liar.
No, what makes you a liar is disbelief in the death, burial and resurrection. Less you enjoy calling God a liar?
Heb 6:16-20 People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. 17Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
1 John 5:9-14 We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
Jesus did His work on the cross. Do we not want to do our work?
Mathew 16:24
Faith and belief has everything to do with our daily walk with the Lord.
How else do you believe we'll be sanctified if not by following the Master?
We keep the faith because Jesus died for us...we walk with Him out of love.
What if we stop walking with Him?
Romans 11:21-22
We must continue in our walk or be cut off.
Rom 11 is using allegory language. Using parables, allegory or metaphorical language to disprove facts is unbiblical. We work (out) our salvation, not work (for). It is God working in us, not us working for self. God bless.
Phil 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Phil 2:12-13 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Hearts are far from Christ when there is no desire or understanding that to love Him is to obey Him.
John 14:21
And that is what sanctification and discipline is for, it is God working through us for His purpose. Non believers have no desire because they do not have the Holy Spirit indwelling them every day.
