Guns are the best example of a ‘lack of faith’ and the consequences of a lack of faith I can think of.

You are presenting the proper reason for having any weapon for self-defense, or defending your loved ones. It does NOT translate into an immediate execution, but even executions of evildoers by the powers that be are permitted by God (Rom 13:1-5).

And loving your neighbors can also mean getting rid of evildoers who would harm your neighbors. If a murderer or rapist is disabled for life because he attempted a home invasion, that is righteous.

Phineas executed two evildoers and he was deemed righteous by God.

Numbers 25:7-13 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
7 And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; 8 and he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. 9 And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

10 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. 12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: 13 and he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

This is with the understanding that a christian gun owner is relying on Jesus Christ on doing the right thing since He did come into the world to save sinners whom I am chief. There may be situations where He will lead a christian not to kill, but some sinners do have that tenacity of asking for it.

What I am trying to say is christian gun owners should not have it in their hearts to kill a home invader, but trust the Lord that they will not kill any one in the process of protecting their families, including taking the option to escape from the home being invaded if the Lord so provides it. That means going with the escaping family to continue that protection, not staying back to deal with the threat.

Okay, this is where my thoughts are in the moment, lol. I do not believe Jesus would have us be helpless if you, your family, friends, and yes pet's too were being attacked or harmed by some intruder in your home. Although, I have a problem with 1-Stockpiling weapons in case the govt. goes Marshall Law. (what will all those weapons do if they drop a bomb on you)

2-Other than war (which I HATE, but understand is at times necessary) I see NO need for any kind of automatic or semi automatic weapon (which can be converted easily to full automatic) in a civilian home.
If yer gonna use it for hunting, wow-just go to the zoo, same thing, no challenge. Or target practice-not much challenge their either o_O.

I have no problem for those who are able to handle a weapon so -like you said @"ByGrace" they cannot take it from you and use against you, lol...but just NOT an automatic one. Also our trust, is obviously in Jesus first and foremost...we are still in this world and should use caution and common sense...JMHO!!!
I want your emoticons!!!! :)

About 35 years ago I had semi-auto rifles, cans of 1700 rounds of 7.62 /39 ammo, two vests with 400 rounds, on stripper clips, just ready to rock and roll, ready to take on the enemies, be it Government, or anyone else!!!!!!! I was raised handling Weapons, we were expected to know how to handle and be safe with Guns. well to make a long story short, How could I maintain this attitude and then profess being a believer! Yes the people I was around all swore that they would have to take my guns out of my cold dead hands. well I realized that if and when they started to go door to door, the first house that refused to relinquish their guns, would be turned into a block of Swish Cheez and the rest of the people would just start throwing their guns to the street!
If there is a civil war it will take strongholds with more than just pop-guns, the Military is far more Armed than the average person!
Just that I have been down that road, brought on by the one true enemy!

Yes, totally agree. Last resort and if there is no other option, shoot the knees...jmo :)

I believe that Jesus will protect me and my family. I also know that if my family is threatened or endangered I am willing to protect them no matter what.

I used to street witness years ago and went without fear. I would leave my house at midnight and ride my bike to Hot Springs on Saturday night during the horse racing season. I never felt one bit of fear.

I have no fear for myself but am willing to do whatever I have to to protect my family. As I say that I am convinced that the Lord will hide us from that circumstance.

My father died in the VA as a WWII vet. Both my brothers are DAV, one an army medic from the Vietnam era is 100% disabled.

My boyhood friend Dale was killed when he hit in the way of a bullet when two family members were fighting. He was 15.

I own guns and always have. I've hunted and fished since I was a boy and so did all my family. I have a concealed carry permit for my hand guns but rarely carry.

My wife is disabled and just can walk. She is a target every time we go out in public, especially if we're separated. We trust God for our safety but that doesn't mean I'm asleep to my surroundings. Once my wife was targeted by a person that insisted on helping her though she refused. This stranger left in a hurry when they saw my big son was with her and nearby.

Men that are Christians are compelled by their country to serve in the military. They have no choice. I've never met anyone who wanted to take a life but have known some that were forced to do so by evil men.

"we were expected to know how to handle and be safe with Guns." <---I think that is a good thing. Cause, you never know if you will need pull on that knowledge one day! God forbid you do.
It's the attitude behind the gun as well that concerns me.

Another good post Truth!

Is killing someone the same as self-defense?
Is killing the same as murder?
I believe the answer is no.

Someone can kill someone but not murder them.
Also, basically man does not want to use a gun...they have to be trained to even use it correctly.
Trained to kill.
Doesn't sound like something from God for the Christian.

So, in your estimation, every soldier and law enforcement officer is doomed, even though soldiers ad policemen are trained to kill the enemies of their country, or the criminals of their country (if necessary).

Possession and use of a firearm does not necessarily mean always taking a life (which is your original assumption). A person who has trained with firearms for accuracy could easily disable a criminal with a shot to the leg or the arm. Even simply confronting an assailent with a gun could cause him to run away.

It seems to me that if I lived in the wilderness with bears, etc., that I would get myself a couple of Doberman Pinchers and let them have fun with the wild life.
That includes moving back to the projects

My time ago pastor moved into a housing development while awaiting his new house to be built
Gangs hung out there nightly
And guess what?
This 50 year man who was about 5'8" at best with a bald head and no muscles was right in the middle of them every night
no crime while he was there
got a couple saved, a few others to church
amazing what one can do when they have the confidence of God walking with them

God bless that man for heeding God's call! Yes it sure is amazing what He does through us when we have that faith.

Don't forget that one does not bear the sword in vain when it is used to deter evil. If the authorities, armies, and governments never use force to kill evil, then where is the deterrence from future evil?

So it's more like.... trained to shoot to kill in the service of deterring evil, but not trained to shoot for the love of killing.

Well as a rule you usually say good stuff...unless it is anything to do with Trump.
But maybe there is hope for you, and you aren't too far left of left!

Do you lock your doors at night? If so, that might be a sign of weak faith.
