I feel this is a much debated subject.
People like to read more into Scripture than what is there.
I've read of pastors who believe Jesus gives everyone a 2nd chance after death because he doesn't want anyone to go to hell.
some believe that when Jesus went to hell, he preached the Gospel and gave everyone from old a 2nd chance.
But the Bible doesn't say that.
Or does it.
Anyone have anything to say about this?

I don’t know the answer to your question but I have thought about it. James 5:15
says, “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” I realize this is a prayer of faith for someone before they pass. But we have all said those prayers for those we doubt believe. “...the prayer of faith shall save the sick,” and “the Lord shall raise him up;” and “if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven.”.

Is this only among believers? Are we not already forgiven when we put our faith in the redemptive work of the Son of God? The Son said the Father will give us whatever we ask for in His name. I’ve prayed over a sick person that was in a diabetic coma and asked God to raise him up, to save him, and to forgive him of his sins. He never woke up. He was in his thirties. Afterwards I saw his name under where I write request for salvation. Will God give a child what they asks for in faith? We claim faith all the time...can we not claim it beyond the temporal into the eternal. God doesn’t operate in time. Not saying it is right but I would say...a prayer of faith is also without time limits.

James 5:11
[11] Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Revelation 5:8
[8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Revelation 8:3
[3] And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

Revelation 8:4
[4] And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

Well....I can honestly say that we have attended a lot churches since
my wife and I got saved from a very terrible lifestyle.

And during this time from 1980 up till now I have never ever
heard a preacher telling us what you quoted.

Thank you
Good answers

I particularly have an issue with 1 Peter 3:18-20;
People want to tell you what Jesus preached but the Bible doesn't say.

I’ve heard the Lord went solely to rub in the face of those in prison that didn’t believe in the days of Noah. It doesn’t fit His character. It says He “preached” to those spirits in prison, and I for one, believe that is what He did.

Second chance For Salvation AFTER bodily death?

No.

Why?

A Body's Life IS its Blood.
A body without its Blood (life)...knows nothing.,,it is a dead body.

How Shall a Dead Body, VOID of its Life (Blood), make a Choice To Accept The Lords OFFERING of Salvation?

Where in Scripture are Dead Bodies RISEN out of their graves, To Hell, for Judgement....IMPARTED again with Blood Life, that The Could ASK To RECEIVE the Lords Gift of Salvation?

God Bless,

There's a church in my area that teaches this.
I read their statement of faith and it clearly says that we could be saved after death.

back it up with Scripture

1 Peter 3:18-20
[18] For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: [19] By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; [20] Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

With longsuffering God waited for the preparing of the Ark....and went to tell the “sometimes disobedient”.

In the days of Noah, only eight souls were saved by water. ONLY eight. But the risen Christ...the New Ark...the “Just” for the “unjust”. Do you believe God waited with “longsuffering” to preach doom to them? Or do you believe it was evil spirits of demons God waited with “longsuffering” to see they are also doomed?

There are people waking around right now that are dead. The life is in the blood of Christ.

Unfortunately, there are NO second chances after death: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.. (Heb 9:27). The narrative (not parable) of the Rich Man and Lazarus confirms this. And every exhortation to preach the Gospel to every creature also confirms this.

As to Christ *preaching* to the Spirits in prison (1 Pet 3:18-20) that Greek word kerux essentially means "proclaiming". But what did Christ proclaim to the spirits in Hades? Since it could not be an offer to be saved (a second chance) Christ was proclaiming His victory at the Cross. There were three groups of spirits in the netherworld: (1) the righteous dead, (2) the unsaved dead, and (3) the evil angels in Tartarus (outside of Hades). They all heard that proclamation.

HEBREWS 2
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

So Christ's proclamation would have been that He had destroyed the power of sin, death, Hades, Hell, and Satan through His sacrifice on the Cross.

What kind of church is that?
Roman Catholic?
LOL
No!
Why does everyone think the Catholic church is so weird?
And don't say: Because it is!!

The CC believes you must decide BEFORE you die, then it's too late.
It's hell, or heaven with a brief stop in purgatory for 98% of all persons.
The Pope might get a free pass, or maybe not --- considering.

It's a non-denominational church, I think. I never attended services there and don't intend to. Their statement of faith is a little booklet --- too much for me. And, when I hear one wrong doctrine (or that at least I BELIEVE to be wrong) I'm outta there.

Where in scripture does it tell of the three groups He proclaimed victory to? Thank you.

My beliefs: yes, there is a chance after death, particularly for those who never had a first chance to accept Christ because they lived in a time/place where His words were not preached.

Now, I'm not going to try to convince anyone else of this because that's not my style. I'm also not a sola Biblia person.

A second chance at what? We will be judged by our deeds not by our beliefs or who we say we put our trust in. The proof is in the pudding, as they say.
