"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
since JWs believe that we are close to the end despite. Matthew 24:36

does this verse proof that Christians Should knock and doors and give a wittness.

The Revelation 3:20 verse is about Jesus knocking upon the door of the church (Laodicea), and the individual members heart therein that He may have entry. It is a knocking and calling by Jesus to be allowed in, since Jesus will not force His way in.

It (Revelation 3:20) can be used as an example of Jesus ("stand at the door and knock") giving the Gospel ("If any man hear my voice") call to accept Him into the life, and thus in conjunction with Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Romans 10:13-18; James 5:10; 1 Peter 2:21; 1 John 2:6, and so on.

The WTS, in that sense (as others like Seventh-day Adventists, Baptists, Evangelicals, and even LDS, knock on doors), is not wrong (though the WTS is wrong about a lot else), and further examples could be given, of Paul going out to public places to preach the gospel, and teaching from house to house, to the Prophets inviting to repentance in similar places, to their personal visitation (sending by God) of cities (Jeremiah, Jonah), of kings (Elijah), and commoners, to their visiting homes (such as Elijah and Elisha, and others did), as Jesus also "came unto his own" (even leaving His home in Heaven to come to this house) (His own house in the wilderness, His own people in Jerusalem, knocking to be allowed to be their personal Saviour; for though He died for all, many personally rejected Him).

As for Matthew 24:36, while no man knoweth the day or hour, YET (for the Bible does not ever say we shall not ever know (but in fact says the opposite; Jeremiah 25:30; Joel 2:11, 3:16; Amos 1:2; Job 40:9; Psalms 18:13, 77:18, 104:7; 1 Samuel 2:10; 2 Samuel 22:14; Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32; John 12:29; Acts 1:7; 2 Peter 1:17-18; Revelation 14:2), we shall know after the close of probation for mankind when the Father speaks it forth Himself), we can right now know, when it is "near" (see also Obadiah 1:15; Zephaniah 1:14), and "even at the doors" (Matthew 24:32-34; Mark 13:28-30; Luke 21:8; see also 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11; James 5:9; Daniel 12:1; Luke 13:25; and etc.), for a person is told to "watch" for their would be "signs" given in the church, and in the world.

So while no man, can RIGHT NOW, have an exact date/time (for prophetic time as a test for God's people has ceased since the ending of the prophetic time of Daniel 8:13-14,26; Revelation 9:15, 10:6), we can know the very nearness because of the events transpiring, so not YET the "time", but right now the events.

We can know that we are close to the end, by several things, including Genesis 1; 2 Peter 3:8; Psalms 90:4; Isaiah 46:9-10; Matthew 13:35, the very prophecies and timeline given in Daniel 1-12; and in the Revelation, the events described in Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21, and in the Epistles of Peter and Paul.

This is what proves we must preach in any form we can...on the street, door to door, shop to shop, to our neigbours over the fence etc etc

Luke 10: 1 - 5

"After these things the Lord designated 70 others and sent them out by twos ahead of him into every city and place where he himself to to go....Vs5 "Wherever you enter into a house, say first 'May this house have peace'...."

So Jesus gave the instruction to preach to people in their homes. He sent them out to do that work. If we carry on that work we are following Jesus instructions and when he returns he will hold an accounting of all christians. Wouldn't you like to be able to say 'Yes, i did as you instructed'?

Do you think the spirit was leading Jesus when he gave the instruction on how to preach and where to preach?

Jesus was speaking specifically to THEM. We need to go to God ourselves to get His instructions....and the power to do those instructions. We don't follow a bible.....we are to follow the living God.

lots of people choose to follow their own path. But the one Jesus followed has been recorded and preserved for us in the pages of the bible. To follow the instructions given by the Apostles in the bible means to follow Jesus, the Word of God.

We can follow an example in righteousness. But in holiness one needs to actually walk with Jesus. He is alive. Why wouldn't we go to Him as if He wasn't available?

Yes true, we must walk with Jesus. And we can do that by imitating the example he set for us. That example is clearly explained in the scriptures. We can learn a lot from them.

You already have his instructions. (Matt. 28:19).

Yes....but imitation is is very limited. Monkeys also imitate...but they don't have a human life. We have a divine life locked up within us that comes alive in His presence. So we need to do a lot more than imitate. We need to actually enter into His life.

So then you can afford to NOT go to God? What kind of doctrine seeks to avoid an actual contact with God? I always wonder at the obvious error that is perpetuated in all errant doctrine. Why limit God?

No has said anything about 'not' going to God. You already have your instructions. (Matt. 28:19-20).

Oh please. One could apply this verse, which you didn't give the reference for, to any one if they wanted. Why doesn't it apply to you instead of others? Maybe it's you who Christ never knew, but you just think He does. (Matt. 7:23)

(Matt. 28:19-20) is the Great Commission. It is to the believers and followers of Jesus Christ whoever they are. Thus you have your instructions.

No we don't have to go door to door. But there is nothing wrong in going door to door. It is but one method. This passage in (Rev. 3:20) is actually teaching about the visible church in the last days and how it is characterized. It is rejected by God. Instead of being on the inside, Jesus Christ is on the outside, knocking on the door and asking those who want to, to come out and follow Him.

So, have you gone yet? Or are you tarrying? Still trying to find God? Still waiting for those 'precise' instructions? Just looking for reasons to do nothing?

I believe (Matt. 28:19-20) is pretty precise.

Since many people like to read into that passage that we are all supposed to be missionaries, going into all the world (which the passage does not say, BTW, since we are told to whom He is talking.), then they have put themselves, and everyone else in disobedience if they are not traveling throughout the Earth in evangelism.
We cannot go nuts, and decide that every word, spoken to anyone, anywhere in the Bible, was specifically addressed to us, sitting in our hometowns in the year 2018.
