Learn the parable of the fig tree! We are the last generation =the Fig Tree generation.=Google Jack Van Impe= "" The Parable of The Fig Tree Comes To prophetic Life ""

Joel pictures Israel as the fig tree (Joel 1:7).. Israel’s existence today is the fulfillment of the reference in Matthew 24:32 to the blossoming of the fig tree.
Our generation is the generation that will be the last on earth before the rapture and then the return of Jesus. PTL

So, for the younger ones here who will be alive then, approximately what year would you say "your generation" is going to hand over the reigns to the next generation? A specific final date... just the year will do.

I just wondered, because both Jack Van Impe and Hal Lindsey have been saying that "we are the last generation" stuff since they were young men... and they are 87 and 88, respectively.

I believe that interpretation was a mistake. The only one that would make sense would be to interpret genea (generation) as a nation or race, meaning that the nation or family of Israel would not disappear from the face of the earth until all things were fulfilled (regarding the events mentioned in Matthew 24).

Verily I say unto you, This generation* shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (v 34)

*Strong's Concordance
genea: race, family, generation
Original Word: γενεά, ᾶς, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: genea
Phonetic Spelling: (ghen-eh-ah')
Short Definition: a generation
Definition: a generation; if repeated twice or with another time word, practically indicates infinity of time.

When you consider that Israel had ceased to exist from 70 AD to 1948 AD, that makes perfect sense. Indeed Replacement Theology came into existence because of this.

Most think 70 years is generation. IMHO With the signs we are seeing today I don't see even ten more years before the return of Jesus to defeat evil and set up His kingdom on earth and know the rapture comes first

Another poor attempt of a person who often cuts and pasts other people blogs and opinions. Just my observation.

You're on the right track. I also believe 1948 is the time piece.

People confuse Judea with Israel. Then they get further confused by reading about Israel in the bible.

1. The diaspora that took place in 70 AD was Judea not Israel. Israel was dispersed among all the nations hundreds of years before that.

2. AS such...Jesus never knew a country called Israel.

3. The modern state called Israel is NOT the biblical Israel anymore than putting a sign on a building makes it a church.

In Romans 11 , God reattaches the broken off branches through faith in Christ. We, believers in Christ are biblical Israel. Not the broken off branches.

God knows our thoughts even before we think them and God knows what the Jewish people will choose to do in the last days and God's Word says ALL Israel SHALL be saved!!!
Romans 11:26 26 and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written.

All Israel = us and the broken off Jews who accept Christ.

Really? Where do you come up with these doozies?

But he [Christ] answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (Mt 15:24)

I said....country. Look at the maps at the back of your bible. Now go to the time of Jesus and look for a country called Israel.
That was a spiritual call....not a national reformation. God doesn't have a UN. God isn't into human politics. He's trying to get us interested in heavenly politics.
