How about the prophecy on King Hezekiah? He was told by the prophet Isaiah to set his things in order as he was going to die. Hezekiah prayed after the prophet had left and in answer to his prayer God sent Isaiah back to advise him that he had been given 15 more years.ha, good one
not sure i like the precedent you are setting here, but i see your point.
Hard to call that bad prophecy though, i mean God did not even rebuke him?
You just don't go looking for them because you think you can. With Paul it may have been a real crawling through the grass kind of snake [a reptile], but I consider more often that it would be a man who speaks poisonous words with the tongue in his mouth. Again, we should not be looking for such a man in order to prove ourselves, but if we are where we are supposed to be in God and we meet such a man we can hear his words and be unaffected. We would continue along God's highway of holiness toward the goal rather than being poisoned by a false doctrine that would kill us spiritually.mostly just gotta wonder if you believe you can handle poisonous snakes without consequences too?
so you think this makes Isaiah's 1st prophecy into an error somehow? Kinda, huh. But obviously we have a blind spot here somewhere rightHow about the prophecy on King Hezekiah? An error, no, but it was ultimately wrong, wasn't it? But, maybe we are looking at the wrong thing here:nice

wow, good points. For whatever reason i am led to go review Jonah's "prophecy" here, which also did not come true i guess. Something about he didn't want to go to Nineveh bc he was pretty sure the Ninevites would be persuaded and turn or something? And he didn't like them? Dunno where i got that, might have made it up lolAn error, no, but it was ultimately wrong, wasn't it? But, maybe we are looking at the wrong thing here:
When a prophecy is given only once it may be as Isaiah's prophecy, subject to change if the hearer makes certain changes. As for instance when Joseph interpreted the dream of Pharaoh, he said that the interpretation would happen because it the dream was dreamed twice. Consider the meaning of the words twice or double in scripture in this connection. Consider that Joseph, the son of Jacob received a double portion instead of Reuben. Elisha received a double blessing because he saw Elijah at the end.
we read this, but we don't really get to read the payoff to them, i wonder why that is? Or at least i am not reading it, might be right in front of my face lolConsider that Joseph, the son of Jacob received a double portion instead of Reuben. Elisha received a double blessing because he saw Elijah at the end.
Yes, the prophecy of Jonah to Nineveh is similar. Because they repented they affected what would happen. They prevented the curse of God receiving instead the blessing. The Ninevites effectively did what Hezekiah did. He prayed and received 15 additional years. The Ninevites repented and received approximately 150 additional years. [See Nahum where the time of the Ninevites runs out for sure that time.]wow, good points. For whatever reason i am led to go review Jonah's "prophecy" here, which also did not come true i guess. ya, i forget why he is characterized the way i did it, i would have to review. There is some line he utters that indicates that, if i remember right.Jonah should have been happy that his message would obtain a positive result.
What was the payoff to Elisha? That one might difficult. We could make note of the "miracles" and events of Elisha vs Elijah and perhaps, but that's probably not going to work anyway.we read this, but we don't really get to read the payoff to them, i wonder why that is? Or at least i am not reading it, might be right in front of my face lol

<Comment removed>Isaiah 17 King James Version (KJV)
17 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts.
4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
I have shared that earlier in the year I heard the Holy Spirit speak and I posted what instructions the Lord gave here on this forum.....one thing that kept rising up in my spirit is keep your eyes on Israel....for the prophesy concerning Damascus is soon coming to pass and I kept hearing September marks a time of sorrows.
When this prophesy is complete it will make way for the final prophesies to move into place.
This year Israel has attacked Syria and targeted Damascus nearly every month since January....The tensions between these two countries are escalating on a daily basis....
No city has been destroyed and rebuilt as many times as Damascus....but this destruction will be it's final end.....it will be a city no more....ever....never to be rebuilt again.
nice

"But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live." Jonah 4:1-3
It seems he was saying he knew that God would be merciful if those people repented. He was apparently angry at God for making him go through it for God surely already knew the final result.
it is a lesson for a believer who has put themselves in Jonah's place i guessPoor Jonah, he was such a coward, lol! I find his story kind of funny, how he tries to run away from God! As if
Tru dat- Can't hide from God!it is a lesson for a believer who has put themselves in Jonah's place i guess
I haven't seen you around much and am praying for you.....well, I am here to humble myself and ask for forgiveness.....I was wrong in hearing from God about Damascus....I look back and see where I set myself up for such a bold statement and it was lack of seeking Him through prayer thoroughly....nevertheless I shall refrain from speaking in the future....I am not so confident about hearing from Him accurately lately.....so please accept my apology and pray for me. Thank you!Stay here at least till Oct 1, so we can have a good discussion about september events.
I haven't seen you around much and am praying for you.
My husband died in his sleep in 1999 and for me it took all the way until last year when I finally let go and quit grieving....so I truly do understand. God is very near you right now and will not leave you while you are grieving. Prayers....and a hug for you!.Thank you.
I need it.
I went through a dramatic event and it has a long term effect on my life.
But time will come for healing, it might be a long road, but God is still in control.
Praise God.
